I like the way you left the back strap for the finish but there was really no need for it. The undercut was very shallow and that is way more of a hazard. Everyones a critic right. Nice work though. I like the dog out there.
Nice job. I like your setup with the ax, helmet, and the neck covering. Nice Humboldt notch. I was trying to identify the saw. I want to say 395?. Wish I had a dog for a cutting buddy. He probably wouldn't know the escape route though HAHA. Good job
To churd, if you refer to putting the slope of the face cut on the bottom of the face, it is to help the butt of the log get to the ground faster. Also it puts the waste on the root flare of the butt, not the sellable log. Since faces are not cut out with axes anymore, the sloped part of the face need not be on top. Humbolt look normal, conventional backwards to us.
nice job man, shame the tree huggers writing the bad comments don't know that a lot of replanting goes on in the clearcuts, I,m envious we got get tree that big to fall in the UK
Yes but they are also dangerous, I was on the Rifle river in Michigan tubing and a 30" dbh ash tree decided to fall across the river, my girlfriend and I were about 50' away a few more seconds and we woulda ate it!
Sorry my reply took so long, but I stopped caring about you. Just went through some old favourite videos, and I was confused by the way you think you can block me from replying. How's that supposed to work?

you've obviously never fell big cedar in the high country in the interior. that back piece is what saves the tree from falling over before your done.

OH wow! that is one massive tree. It would take forever to cut that thing with my 18" saw.

@churd243 It makes it less likely that the log will kick back over the stump.

For anyone saying oh poor tree, the center was completely rotten.
+Alex Matthews Could be true. But trees like that provide shelter, food and nesting spots for birds and other wildlife.

So tired of people saying this, that is how red cedar naturally grows, tree is perfectly healthy with a hollow core
@@zambofan22 trees like that also kill people. how would you feel if it was next to your house?

The Griswold family Christmas tree
That's a nice "smiley" you got there...well done. :) Is it just
me or was that cedar rotten in the middle? Thanks for the video.
Work safe. ;)
