Oh snap I just realized that I said modal interchange is when you borrow a chord from a relative mode. I meant to say when you borrow a chord from a PARALLEL mode. C minor is the parallel minor key for Cmajor. Sorry yall 😊
That's a really good question. I'm still doing research on that at the moment to figure out which borrowed chords sound best. Maybe I'll make a video about it when I get the answer 😊
You can also think of the Gm - C - F as a secondary ii V into that F. Then there’s the minor ii V back into the Am. So instead of memorizing 6 different chords, you just remember 2: Am ii-V F ii-V. Love the videos man, and always appreciate the time you put into these lessons.
Tks so much, I have heard there cords hundreds of times, but never played them. Now they are in my head and I can’t remember the songs they are played in. You mention that you had a teaching program. Where do I find that information
Mad, it's usually difficult for me to concentrate on tutorials (ADHD). But I am genuinely so brought in and taking in every word. Amazing vid, cheers for the lesson

how do you know when to do modal interchanges? do you just borrow chords whenever you feel like it?

Yooooo I didn't even see it that way! Thanks for dropping that gem.
This is an excellent tutorial! You made everything you covered as clear as I've ever heard it explained--even the non-diatonic parts. Thank you.
So with the E wouldn't you put E7? because D is in the chord? Also would it be ok from I C chord, G C E to go to IV F chord, A C F instead of F A C?

@7:51 Isn't the 5 of A minor an E minor chord?
