Favorite moments: - Big Bird calling out for the Muppet Show cast in addition to Kermit - Link Hogthrob shouting "Remember the Alamo!!!" @ 4:18 - Floyd chanting "We will NOT be repressed!" when the play gets too hectic - "Song cue!" "You're welcome!", not to mention Bert & Ernie and Grover's cameo during the song - all of Piggy's bits
You're right about 1 thing though. In addition to Kermit, Big Bird calling out the others from The Muppet Show instead of his Sesame Street friends? That seems unusual.
Fozzie: "Where will it all end?" Kermit: "Well in their case it ended with the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America." Fozzie: And in our case? Kermit: What else? SONG CUE!!!!
"WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN" years later that song would be played by a Dixieland band at Jim Henson's memorial service at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine
Perfect ! My daughters grew up on watching Kermit, Miss Piggy, Big Bird, Elmo, Bert & Ernie and my favorite the Count. They learned so much before entering nursery school and in an enjoyable platform. I loved watching Sesame Street with them. Phyllis Hall, Owner of Hillcrest Guest House, St. John, US Virgin Islands
Happy President's Day, Big Bird! I'll never forget your famous saying, "Look at all these people, there must be like thousands, maybe even hundreds, who knows, dozens may be involved.". I was kinda like you when I was 6.
another time muppets and seasame street came together was in a muppets family christmas and every single muppet that had been made by that time was in it so was jim and doc the final scene pans out to see room full of muppets and in kitchen jim and sprocket are getting ready to do dishes while everyone else is enjoying new and old friendships while singing. muppet family christmas was in 88 or 89.
This is by far one of their best live perfomances. I anyone has footage from their appearance on the Royal Varity show from 1977, please upload it. Thanks.

the kids are the ones in school learning about it every year, so what makes you think the adults know more? but i think your comment is more insulting to the intelligence of the puppeteers and writers than to youth like myself
If Count Von Count replaces Gonzo for The role of Dickinson I’d love to hear him say’ “Now Mr. Adams Are These The Acts of Transylvanians” and Kermit would say, “No Count you’re supposed to say.”Englishmen”, not “Transylvanians”” 😆😂🤣
Gonzo is the true patriot. He's an illegal "alien" who found success with Earthlings by assimilating into our culture while retaining his own personal "heritage". That and the chickens. Every great patriot owned chickens.

Most of the dialog they say when they are doing the play is actually from the show 1776
I noticed that too.
Unfortunately, none of the songs...they used a song from How To Succeed In Business when the 1776 score was RIGHT THERE!!!
In loving memory of Caroll Spinney, Jim Henson, and Jerry Nelson.
Don't forget Richard Hunt!
@@kylekeller3398 yes, must not forget Richard Hunt!

1:25 neck twist
"Their were no pigs" now that's a burn.😂
Having just performed the musical 1776, I say this is hysterical!
3:04-3:14
I love how the very next shot after that line gives you a glimpse of Link Hogthrob up at the top.
Imagine if the Muppets were to revive this and put in the cast of Hamilton in the mix for today.
Never have I wanted something more. Imagine Lin Manuel in a rap battle with Kermit.
The big bird puppet used here is from season 10 to season 13 of sesame street.
WOW! I didn't even know this existed!
The Muppets are #1 in the world!
Miss Piggy tells Kermit he looks good in his Thomas Jefferson outfit. Doesn't she mean his Thomas Jef-frog-son outfit? :-)
#WOCKA_WOCKA
"What benefits? Crippling taxes? Cruel repression? Abolished rights? Kermit, this stuff is not funny!!" LOL
1776 the musical looks great
This is what most people know of American history.
HAPPY 45th ANNIVERSARY, CTW!!!!
Wow! I never knew this even happened. And I still get surprised when I see the combination of Muppet Show and Sesame Street characters like that!

Happy Fourth!
2:17 is when the scene begins.

I was a baby in 1982, 1 year old, still in my native Belgium until 1994, then moved to the US.
Teeheehee...Waldorf and Stadler still up in their box and Sam just standing awkwardly in the corner. XD
My history teacher played this for the entire class
THE MUPPETS WON THEIR FIRST OSCAR!!!!
I am just waiting for them to break into song with "Sit Down, John."
I just can't believe that Carroll Spinney is big bird in this show I thought that he is still at Sesame Street.
Kermit The Frog And Fozzie Bear Are One Of My Favorite Muppets
when was this aired?
Who Composed The Music In This Patriotic Special?
@Jennennett
He is the soul of Sesame Street while Elmo is the heart
Wait a minute 7th of June? NO WAY! The 2nd Continental Congress took place on my birthday? WOW! 🤩🇺🇸
You are welcome. Good day.
Now this is how you learn AP History in high school

Piggy: "There were no women in the Continental Congress?"
Kermit: "There were no pigs."

Queen victoria kitchener waterloo ontario canada
Its sad when a bunch of puppets know more about the founding of our great country, then most of our youth.
God Bless America!!!!
RIP Jim Henson
Never Mind
That's great. Happy New Year 2013
I heard Charlie Sheen talks to Big Bird too.
I love the Brotherhood of Man, and that the music is composed by the late Frank Loesser (1910-1969).
Is it just me or is the stage shaped like a swastika?
Poor Miss Piggy

He's not an alien.
