He definitely was a memorable villain of the 1980s. Commando is one of the best action films of the 1980s it was a great decade.
Commando still kicks ass. I watched it not more than a week ago for the 14 thousandth time. It’s slowly closing in on Predator.

The key to Vernon's performance was the Aussie accent. They didn't dub him or get him to speak with an American accent.
I also liked Vernon in Innerspace (1987) where he played the main henchman/assassin Mr. Igo who is sent to kill Tuck (Dennis Quaid) upon being miniaturised and injected into Jack (Martin Short)
He didn’t have a single spoken part, that makes him all the more memorable. A mute but deadly adversary.
Jesse Ventura was good in Predator. Vernon would have been epic.
Oh...my...God...my mind has been blown. The slouch hat would have suited him better too, being Australian. He would have tried to shoot the Predator...between the baaaaaaalls!

i was about 7 or 8 when i first watched commando and ive never blown up a another human, dropped anyone from cliff or even wanted to try green berets for breakfast. ive never pulled a knife or stabbed someone. ive also never thrown a circular saw blade at someone and chopped off a scalp. this movie or any action film has been detrimental to upbringing or mental state
i was 5 when i saw commando and before i was 6years i had seen it more then 100 times seriously
I was the exact same age. I will say, however, that since then, I have pinned a man to an industrial boiler with a steam pipe by throwing it through his torso. It killed him within seconds.

I kind of see now why Vernon didn't have time to bulk up for the role since they put him in right after firing the other actor. It would have been par for the course going up against a ripped Arnold.
