Had the pleasure of driving one of these for the first time as a teenager, and instantly fell in love. Was doing 80 in a 55 and did not notice! Great memory, and great ride.
I actually bought this car from Volo it’s very nice, starts, runs good! Needed some brake work and AC work but that was it! I get lots of compliments about it every time I drive it also had it ultra cleaned up, ceramic coating Looks even more amazing then what I thought it would
I own a 1979 Lincoln Continental Collectors Series 400cid 6.6. I live in the Netherlands, and to fill up the tank fully I do pay 2,14 EURO per liter gasoline, so a full filled up tank cost me 209 Euro that is about 243 dollar.!!!!! We have no gallons here only amount in Liter. But I love the car it is all about comfort, drives well, roomy. The last of the mastodonts!
@@VoloMuseumAutoSales Hello!,well it's my only car I own so I drive in a lot but not every day .I can use the bicycle or the underground to getuigd to my work to save soms money ha,ha
Beautiful. Surprised it fit on the turntable. So glad to see that dove gray leather interior instead of the expected bordello red velour that was slapped into so many silver cars of the day.
Hello Jay. What a super way of getting into the classic car scene and at such a bargain price ! A you say it needs just a little love to make her the envy of every would be collector ! As always , Thankyou Jay .
It’s a beauty but it’s odd how the steering wheel is so warn considering the low mileage and the ash trays, front and back, have really been used. Maybe the family just sat in the car with the AC running while enjoying some chew and Pall Malls. lol. I didn’t have the sound on so sorry if he talked about this.
The steering wheel itself is in superb condition The part you are speaking of is the plastic cover that runs across the wheel It’s a common issue, not made well Same issue on my Buicks and Marquis Easy $40 buck replacement, no need to trash a car for a $40 buck part
Government fuel and emission regulations killed the great American land yachts. Lincoln was the last of the big three to resist downsizing and 1979 was the last year for these full sized luxo-barges. The only real upside to the move towards electric cars is that it could make a lot of the regulations that have limited sedan size obsolete.
Those are beautiful cars! My late father used to have a 1977 Continental Town Car, dark blue with slightly longer wheelbase, something like 19'' inches longer than standard. It used to work for US White House so great history as well and I loved that car. Perfect for long trips! Sadly my father sold it to Sweden, would be nice to know how is that Lincoln doing nowadays.

I wonder how fast/slow this big Lincoln is with only a 2bbl 400 under the hood? One of the first cars I ever drove was a 1976 Ford Country Squire that had the 400 engine. Power wise it wasn't too bad but this Lincoln must weigh at least 500 lbs. more. For me real luxury demands ample power which is something this Lincoln probably lacks. Otherwise it's a beautiful car.
Not sure of the horse power. The 400ci/2bbl engine had 1970s anti-pollution controls on it. I'm going to guess around 180hp. I worked at a auto repair/tire shop called TALLEYS in New Caney, Texas in 1979. The owners bought a full size F150 and the Lincoln Continental. Just like the one in the video. Because it was Ford's last year to build such vehicles. Both vehicles were pretty impressive. The F150 had the 460 in it. The Lincoln could get out of its way pretty good for such a land yacht. It was fun to pump $1.00 gallon gas in it. I use to joke with my Boss's Wife, "can you shut the engine off so the gas pump can catch up." Those were the days.
Correct but really not important to me I had an alpine Bluetooth head unit installed in the glove box , JL speakers all around, a 5 channel Alpine amp and a 12 inch Alpine sub woofer Sounds AMAZING! And dash still looks stock
Damn shame you have that car priced as high as you do with such a small engine and the front seats in such crappy condition.. if it were in better shape and had the 460 engine instead of the 400, I'd have probably bought it by now..
I "owned" (the gasoline bill$ OWNED ME!) a '77 Lincoln "Town Car" (this HOG was called that because you had to have an O.P.E.C. AGREEMENT to drive it BEYOND 'Town" LIMITS! I HATED THIS IMPRESSIVE (overgrown) Ford Galaxie (LTD?!) NOBODY COULD ACTUALLY DRIVE THIS (silver-painted) PIG!

I’ve received offers for the car already by people at gas stations and even by my mechanic The car is in superb condition, I drive it almost every day, no issues, We’ll 1 issue, the AC gets really cold I have to keep it on low
Who's smoking what in your pricing department 🙄. This low mileage original classic is $27,000 and a bare bones Dart clone is $50,000? 🤔 If I had the coin I would put a deposit on the yards of Lincoln in a nanosecond!

Can't beat a Continental for comfort and luxury.
I had a 1972 White with white leather. Cruising easily down the highway on your favorite leather sofa. Turned corners like a boat.
Sounds about right. 😆

Lucky you!! 😎
I owned a 1980 Lincoln Mark VI for 8 years, my living room on wheels, and I loved it! Best car I ever had!

🤔hmmmm. A modern electric Continental? Would be very interesting to see.
Stunning, vanguard had one a little while ago in similar condition, they were asking 50k
50K?? LMAO!
Just beautiful. And I mean beautiful!
If this had cloth interior I’d be all over it
What a beautiful and elegant car it is!!
😎👍
As smoth and silent like a Mouse in slippers 🎶 🎶 🤟 thanks Jay
Wheel covers, hub caps are questionable. Otherwise, amazing.
Imagine if every person on the planet had one of these in 1979. There would be no 2021 if so.

That fits in the room by millimetres.
Yes, it was unbelievably close!!
Just looking at it🤔...
It's the biggest car I've
seen on your site!
Have you even seen the 1959 Cadillacs on his site? They are huge.
My dad had one in emerald green
Wow uss enterprise in the 🦇 batcave thanks Jay grams for this wonderfull lincoln luxiry car No 1 ✌️✌️✌️💎💎🌟😍🎶
Is this car from Pittsburgh? I swear I seen this car here on a selling ad.
It doesn't appear to be but maybe it was before being brought to us? 😶
Nice video, but you don't show us the flaws that you're mentioning.
That bumper probably weighs as much as a Miata!
I'll pass on this one Jay, it's too long for my garage.
Sure you don't want to use it as an excuse to expand or rebuild a bigger garage? 😜
No room to expand, I'd have to move too! LOL!
Im surprised that big ass car could even fit in that room.

I have an under ground garage at my house I keep all my classic cars there I can hold 8 cars, I still have room for 3 more 😀
These are the kind of vehicles that make you think you're doing 50 when your'e actually doing 75-80
true!

I looked it up. The 400 made 159hp in 1979. Less then I thought. If it had any get up and go. It had to be all gearing.
@@lindycorgey2743 That's really a poor HP number for a 400 CI engine. I think my 1976 400 was rated at 180 HP, can't remember the TQ though.

The 460 engine was not offered in 1979, only the 400 so nobody had a choice unless one did a replacement.
Worn seats? They cleaned right up Not even a dirt line can be seen now And a 6.6 powers the car just fine no complaints here
