I found a way to do this without holding back the stitch. Works on all but the last stitch. The one you hold can go on the next peg until you are ready to put it back on the empty peg. Works for me it seems right now. I kept messing up holding it back lol. I just started doing this last night before I went to bed and it seemed to me no reason why this would not work.
