Great vid thanks. Just got mine and apparently they have changed the manual. It now states that dry firing voids the warranty. Guess ill have to get some snap caps. Cool looking gun and cheap to shoot. God bless
Thanks, After your review I bought one, and so far I like it, had no prob removing fired shells, I found for me it does shoot low so I may take a bit off the front sight.
That's gonna be a fun one for sure. Can't wait to try one for myself. I think it's awesome that they deviated from the normal, loading gate style, six round, SAA platform while keeping the slick 1873 look. Not that there's anything wrong with the traditional way but different can be a lot of fun sometimes. Great job DB 👍
I'm going to check and see if these are available in Canada. Looks like a nice wheel gun. Won't order until after your range review but will try to locate.
will also be a nice gun for seniors who can't rack a slide or fix a FTF or FTE and struggle to load a magazine. 9 shots of 22 magnums will surely stop or deter an intruder.
i bought a 4 & 7\8 in barreled heritage arms that came with a 22lr & 22 magnum cylinder. i have been considering getting a ruger wrangler but i think the sidekick would be alot better option. i definately like the swing out cylinder versus the loading gate. i wonder if the grips are interchangeable with the wrangler? aweome review, cant wait to see the shooting impressions.
This looks very much like a Hi Standard double nine except for the changeable cylinder. Did Hi standard by any chance sell their design ? I believe the only other Sidekick that I ever shot was an Iver Johnson but it was nothing like this gun.
Would like longer barrel (9") and better sights. And lightweight version would be great too. That would make an ideal survival/woods walking gun, loaded with a shot shell under the first round chamber would make it excellent for dealing with slithering reptiles too. The cylinder release being too close to the end of the barrel is a safety concern
This is like the old hi standard 22. They were very durable and are worth a lot now. The manson family used one with a 9 inch barrel during their murder spree.
Just ordered one in Australia. I know......shock horror!.....(queue the conspiracy theorists) we can get pretty much get anything here with the right permits despite the usual mis-information. Excellent review. Greetings from South Coast NSW Australia.
Surprised that you didn’t mentions that this design does not use ‘transfer bar safety system’ but a ‘hammer block’ incorporated into the pistol and only disengages when the trigger is pulled back like the ‘transfer bar’ system to the pistol to discharge, however it is a different safety method. Should you have the hammer cocked the safe way to lower it is the same as other transfer bar/hammer block systems. Being extremely careful should you have live rounds in the cylinder, hold the hammer back so it does not move forward, press the trigger to release the hammer. Take your finger completely off the trigger then lower the hammer and this will allow the hammer block to engage to safely lower the hammer without striking the firing pin. There are probably other video’s explaining this type of safety on TH-cam. However your video was very well done in discussing the Diamondback Sidekick 22/22mag pistol. It does catch your eye with it’s features for this type of pistol.
I love Diamondback firearms...very well built and thought out designs. for a reasonable price...hope I can find one for myself for a non-bloated plandemic price
TY S/A RE'volvers R True USA items! Fell in LuV w/them many moon's ago. So start saving up maybe by summer got nuff $$ 4 one! TY 4 ur fine video's Always #!
How do you make a rimfire OK to dry fire? The firing pin isn't mashing against the cylinder? Something has to give. But a couple of other new rimfire handguns designs are making the same claim. Could you show a close up of how the firing pin/breachface interface works?
I love everything about that revolver except the frame is Zmak alloy. I don't know which one; zmak 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 7, but each alloy has different properties depending on the amounts of alloying metals (aluminum, copper, etc.). If you could find out and let us know it would help (me, anyway).
@@GBGuns only because I'm old enough to remember saturday-night-specials and have a feeling of revulsion for those cheaply made firearms. Like being unable to trust a semi-auto that only has an ftf once in a couple hundred rounds - but I won't carry it. I just don't know that it could take the abuse my old single-six did when I was young and stupid. Just me.
@@GBGuns well, I know they're a quality brand; didn't mean to imply otherwise. It's the association of the metal with those that gets me. I'll probably argue myself blue in the face until I buy one, just because I think the innovative engineering of it is pretty special. Don't mind me if I'd rather they used 7075t6 or even A380; just my prejudice against zinc
I bought one. Big mistake. Had to send it back. Kept locking up in double action. Failed the function test. Got tired of Diamondback's "jumping through hoops" program and ultimately told them to keep it and put it in a wet and warm place. Be warned.
Great review and interesting to know they are now making western style revolvers. That said... I'm pretty well played out with all of these companies making copies of excellent old revolvers on tiny calibers. At the very least .38/.357 versions would be of far better use.
It is going to be a on demand gun, but you can't find them anywhere. The dealers just laugh at you when you say you want to order one. So what's the deal with the ads, or can you tell us where we can purchase one and get it soon. The politicians have everything bottled up....
@@GBGuns I was not impressed by the weierauch either. The weight is spot on, but it has the build quality of a 1950s cap gun. I was expecting ALOT more.
These guns are absolute junk. They have no practical accuracy, the screws rattle loose after a short shooting session, and they have problems with ejecting rounds, which are related to the Cerocote build-up in the cylinders. Mine was literally keyholing rounds and shooting a 15-inch group at 10 yds off of the bench. Save your money and buy a Heritage. Mine has to go back to Diamondback to see if they can fix this dog. Unfortunately, I am not very hopeful that it is fixable. So far customer service has been satisfactory though. JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK. Thanks for the review, though, and I hope yours is better than the one I got.
Like the loading swing out cylinder. Modern school, yet old school classic look. 🎩☯️♠️
just a cheap and poorly made copy of the high standard double nine from 1958 that was a real gun!
What about this is poorly made? What was your experience with it?

Let’s see if it meets the scheduled release date, cuz I’m interested.
Thanks
Looks like a great little plinking/woods gun! Can't wait to see the going prices! Great video
i watched another they said $320
Been interested in these since they were announced

They brought back and reproduced the High standard double nine.
Great video. I love a good wheel gun.
Looking forward to "What's for Dinner " range fun. Nice to have both cylinders. 👍😎
That looks like a lot of fun!

nothing is available in canada
Great video as always! Always pertinent and useful information. Neat little revolver.
Like that it looks like a Western revoler, but is DA. Hope it sells well and they make a DA version in 357 mag.
will also be a nice gun for seniors who can't rack a slide or fix a FTF or FTE and struggle to load a magazine. 9 shots of 22 magnums will surely stop or deter an intruder.
I agree I would dump my SCCY 9 mm for this.

Sweet man!
This is a great pistol i love it
Very interesting… I’m going to try to find one in the next 6 months.
Would love to see a full size model as a 12 shot with a 5.5" barrel.
wander if they will do a .38 version?
Maybe 🤠
I just bought one of these. Can't get it right away in MD. But I will have it soon.
Does it suck?

this is almost an exact copy of a Hi Standard but not the quality.
wow...!!! 😍 😍
These are impossible to find right now. I definitely need one…….
They'll be back, as the most recent release I'm sure they'll be in production for a while
Very nice heater you got there.

The cylinder release being too close to the end of the barrel is a safety concern
So when will you release the shooting impressions for the Mossberg MC2sc?
First to Patrons, general TH-cam a few days or weeks later.
Are there beefier replacement grips?
This is like the old hi standard 22. They were very durable and are worth a lot now. The manson family used one with a 9 inch barrel during their murder spree.
I have GOT to GET one of these!$ It is like the Hi-Standard Double-Nine and i shot those and could kick myself for not having one$!😳😘😁
Looks nice; really want to see the shooting impressions.
Hi, want to know if the sights are blocked by the hammer spur in double action. Thank you. No reviewer has shown the sight picture in double action.
Not entirely blocked
The 1873 is best at point shooting anyway
Just ordered one in Australia. I know......shock horror!.....(queue the conspiracy theorists) we can get pretty much get anything here with the right permits despite the usual mis-information. Excellent review. Greetings from South Coast NSW Australia.
Expect to pay $350.00 for these for the first year, they will sell out fast.

Maybe those cheap little pieces of plastic are meant to be used as snap caps? Are they rimmed at one end?
No, they're a chamber plug. The Sidekick is safe to dry fire.

I can't show you the hammer to cylinder contact, but thechambers are counter-bored. It says so in the manual as shown in the video.

I am not sure about the zinc frame.

Does it take 1873 grips?
That I don't know. The suze is similar but it's hard to guesstimate with three dimensions of variables

Sounds like your dealer doesn't want to work for you. They should be able to order from the major distributors, maybe even direct from Diamondback.

So you bought a western looking pistol that has none of the western function???
Why not buy a Ruger?
Because we don't Ruger in this house
No rugers, but a really low rent Taurus is ok....makes sense to me.
