Hey hey GlitchedStreams! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad the video game out on time and that it was helpful! This is easily the biggest competitor against the RODE GO to date in the 2.4ghz arena, I look forward to see how Saramonic continues to develop their systems as this is a huge update from the original Blink500 system! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Absolutely! It was thorough, well-spoken, and overall super informative. But I do agree with you, if Saramonics has anyway of tweaking the firmware of these, I would LOVE to see a meter instead of a waveform on the screen
Maybe even check out the Comica Boom X-U as well. I've had zero dropouts with it compared to nontop dropouts with the Rode. I shot a video outside standing maybe 10' from my camera with my transmitter on my hip and the audio cutout non-stop and wrecked my video.
@@c0pyimitati0n That’s my big concern - dropouts. I know I want two transmitters and one stereo receiver that can put each mic on it’s own track. Comica Boom XU, Boom XD, or this Saramonic? Decisions, decisions.

Hey hey Turner! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Yea, the RODE GO's are so hard to come by this year. One thing to mention is the Rode has the in-unit record function, which was never an issue for me since I don't do separate audio/video recording. I chose the original Blink 2-person for our church video because it was $100 less than the Rode and I didn't need the record function. I was thrilled to see the new Blink Pro model, has all the right upgrades, and today was $70 off. I bought one for myself today. Yes, it is odd that they changed the on-unit charge port to USB micro from USB C on the original Blink. Not a deal breaker just a pain in the cable butt. Great review, thanks for this, liked and subscribed.
So glad you were able to snag the deal! Enjoy it until the next time you're looking for an upgrade! I will be here hopefully with a review for the next major one after the RODE Wireless GO II! Thanks for subbing!
Hey hey Daphne! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I'm not entirely sure as I don't usually do a specific test for latency. The reason I don't is because I am already using the system to record the talking head portion of the review. If my eyes don't immediately notice it in my videos when editing, then I don't dive deeper into it. For context, this video was shot in 30p with 10+ wifi networks around and my smartphone and laptop nearby. I don't know if wifi being around causes more latency as I don't recall my Blink500 videos looking like they had a latency issue. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Ditto-would love if someone could do a test on this. I also did a test on my "old" Saramonic 500 and got 65ms. Terrible that they actually spec'd it at 12ms for the consumers-outright lie and it's cost me time and a lot of headache. Would love to know if they've improved that area-and Saramonic apparently are not great at getting back on the customer support end regarding this issue. Seems like they know they've been caught on this one.

Hi, Sensei I've been rewatching a few of your lighting videos the past few days so a lot of your videos are showing in my feed. This thumbnail looked so much like a previous thumbnail so I almost didn't watch this one. Glad I did watch, I'm asking Santa to get me this for Christmas.
Hey hey again IMDABROWN! You're right, this looks very very similar to a lot of my wireless mic thumbnails. I'm going to need to figure out a different kind of shot. Glad you got to check out this video and that its something that'll help with your productions!
What’s the upload process like? I am not liking what the Rode process looks like using their software. I’d also rather there be a way to lock the lav mics in and just use a memory chip.
Hey hey BetaClimbers! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The offload processes of the new RODE GO II is super simple and not really a both, In my opinion. Mainly because if you're already offloading footage, its not different than offloading audio from a field recorder. I'm not sure if this is a potential translation error, but if you mean if you can use the RODE GO TX as a recorder only without the RX. Yes you can as of the newest firmware update, though I believe it will only record "uncompressed". Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Appreciate the review. Almost bought the older version just because the rode was sold out and I like the fact I can record two separate lav at once but didn’t buy cause felt like I was missing out in the rode functionalities. Saramonic is the best! I got UWMIC9 4 years ago, I got Blink500 b2 last year, and now looking at this real little dual mic masterpiece! Woaw! That micro usb is a bit weird. I wish somehow the headphone jack on the receiver could double as a third lav mic input so I could record myself behind the camera with a third wired lav when I interview two people at the same time. I have to always do realtime mic swaping among my interviewees in those situations which is a bit awkward. I want to know which lavs one could buy to upgrade the Blink 500 Pro's quality, if needed, is the lav quality the same as on my Blink500 or on my UWMIC9? It's the one thing I always kind of wonder about, if I should get other lavs (hopefully not too expensive ones) to upgrade the quality. Otherwise also I wonder what is the actual quality difference between my UWMIC9, Blink500 and Blink500 Pro, also I wonder what can be said of the quality difference between the Saramonics and a much more expensive dual wireless Sennheiser or Sony system. That charging case, I am so impressed, it is so brilliant. Yes one could attach (using gaffer tape or something) some kind of pouch to the side of that case it to transport all the cables, lavs and stuff. They fixed the battery, on Blink500 it's too short.
Hey hey again Charbax! The lav quality is more or less the same as the original Blink. These are all mass bulk lavs so I doubt they've changed all that much. The only thing that changes the sound a little bit is their preamp and processing inside the transmitters. A lot of people seem to like the JK branded mics, though I have yet to really try them out. However some 2.4ghz systems seems to cause interference in them based on some of the youtube reviews I've read, but I still would like to try them myself one of these days as their price isn't too bad. You already saw my massive comparison video where the the Uwmic9, BLink500 and Sennheiser were in the same tests. When it comes to these 2.4ghz budget systems, they all have a lot of processing going on cause they are meant to be a one and done solution (minus the Uwmic9) when you get to these other systems that do not process the audio that much, thats where you'll start to see some differences (if you can hear it) Otherwise these budget systems all do a good job to give you something to work with at a cost thats unheard of just 3 years ago. From there its up to your audio post production skill set to sweeten it for your own voice. As for the interview lav situation where you want 3 lavs total, to avoid any major problems when you start editing in post you most definitely would want to have a 3ch recorder so that if someone is making all sorts of noises you can cut that out. If you hard record all of it into the cameras 2 channel you run the risk of potentially ruining a take if someone keeps scratching at the mic or something. What you could do is just get a small recorder for yourself and you'd sync it up in post so that you can use your voice where needed. Not the best all in one solution, but its something easy for you to keep your in pocket with a lav so that you don't have to have a bulky 4ch recorder strapped to your camera.

They have a few more settings. For instance, you can specify the mic gain manually. They also seem to be a little smaller and have a longer battery life. The case is a nice addition too. The only thing the BoomX-U has going for it is the - in my opinion - better looks and range; UHF tends to offer higher quality audio at greater distances.
Hey hey Manolo and DesertCookie! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Desertcookie answered all of it, thank you so much Desertcookie! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
I choose the Saramonic Blink500 Pro. The BoomXD has a Lowcut filter you can't turn off. The Saramonic has a more fuller sound. The built in mic is actually quite good on its own if you don't want to use the lav.
I've got a project coming up next year. I hope the Blink500 Pro makes it to the European market before then. The extra cost of ~50€ over the BoomX-D seems worth it.
I think it's okay to mention this since B&H comes up on your affiliate link: Today only, Thursday, December 23, 2021, until midnight eastern time, B&H has the Blink Pro 2-person on sale for $229. An incredible deal.

I wonder what the range outdoors is when line of sight is lost, in the video we see that 50 feet is to much for that, but what about 30 feet?
Hey hey Sigfús! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This is very hard to give you a definitive answer as it really really really depends on where you are. In my stress test where RF cannot reflect off of anything. With a 2.4ghz system you will usually start getting spotty non-line-of-sight signal at around 15-20ft. If you were in a pedestrian mall area where there are more structures around, this will no be the case, at that point you'll potentially contend with too many wifi signals (again depends on where you are). Generally speaking, because these are so small, the line of sight should not be an issue to a user who is aware of where they are filming. What I mean by this is I will never purposely but it out of line of sight because it so small I can easily hide the TX in a jacket pocket or under my shirt (if I'm wired up). Back with older systems that were very chunky, this would not be desirable. But at this point I feel forcing a system to fail when it is already so small and compact is not a great way to just the usefulness of such a device. But I get it, there comes a certain level of a filmmaker where you do not want to have to worry about line of sight. In which case you should not be looking at a 2.4ghz system and rather look at a UHF system that is more robust. If you country (if you're outside of the USA) allows the use of 500mhz for free. Then you should definitely check out the Comica Boom XU: th-cam.com/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/w-d-xo.html To date it is the most budget friendly UHF system I have tested. Hope this helps! @@TLDR_filmmaker thanks so much for this reply and answer, tremendous help, love your videos btw, I'll definitely get the blink 500 pro now and later if I absolutely need to film outside with my 70-200 gm I'll just get the comica also, just hope iceland allows 500mz for public use
You're most welcome! Iceland should have a website that will let you know what frequencies you can use. Search for something like "Wireless mic frequency Iceland" and something should come up. Hope this helps further!
I have one, it really works great. But I’ve noticed that doesn’t matter how long I charge it, the battery simbol will never show up completely full. Why is that?
Hey hey Daniel! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Hmm... it may mean the battery cell never quite hits the top voltage that it needs to register as a full battery. If you are able to get close to my battery life test results even with that last charge light blinking, then I wouldn't worry about it too much as it could just mean the calibration of the BMC (Battery management chip) could be off. But if you notice you're missing a decent amount of battery life, may want to exchange the unit. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey again Mia! The Blink 500 Pro comes with another cable for cell phones that have a Headphone port, if your phone no longer has one, you'll need to purchase the appropriate adapter to give you that port out of your charging port. Plug the one end with the 3 color stripes into the phone, and the plug with the 2 color strips into the receiver of Blink 500 pro. And thats all there is to it! @Capricorn12 : No, as far as i know it is not because the pairing process between the two models are different.
RODE mics are susceptible to interference from nearby electronics including themselves. I have to separate the RX units by a foot or more when multiple units are in use. What about the Saramonic?
Hey hey XonX! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! That is definitely correct, in my RODE GO 2 review I test two RX units close and far apart in my outdoor stress test, definitely want to keep them apart if possible. I'm not sure why it is this way, but I have a feeling all 2.4ghz will suffer from this in some ways when both RX's are close together. Although I have not had problems with the RODE GO II where it lost signal from other electronics. That being said, RODE implementing the internal recording feature helps mitigate this problem a little bit. I can't speak specifically on the Saramonic Blink500 Pro as I don't have two units to try it. But I feel it should exhibit the same problem as well because I once tried to do a distance shoot out where I had two competing brands clipped to my shirt and the receivers at the camera. They both started interfering with each other and I got horrible distance results. I feel the only way these cheaper 2.4ghz systems can negate these problems is if you can lock them into a specific frequency range instead of constantly scanning the frequency and hopping frequencies on the fly. Picomic does this where you can lock them into even or odd number frequencies between units so that they don't get in each others way. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Nicholas! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! 2.4ghz frequencies are much shorter compared to a 500mhz frequency. So essentially it has a harder time transmitting its signal through my body. And because I am in the worst possible situation (out in the open field) the frequency has no way to reflect off of anything to eventually bounce its way back to the Receiver. This is why it cuts out in that specific situation vs indoors where I can move all around through walls and you'll still hear me until there are too many walls. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Can someone tell me if there's a control over the output volume from the receiver to the camera? I believe the gain controls on the transmitters are input gain controls... but is there an output gain control?
Hey hey Johnny! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! There is only transmitter input gain controls and non at the receiver output level. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey again MMC Streaming! Way ahead of you, already testing the RODE GO 2 as we speak and will be doing all the things. It's gonna be a long video, stay tuned! Hope to get it released next week.
Beautiful day to you! Question: have you been using the blink 500 pro b2 in real world situations? And if so have you experienced audio dropouts? Would you recommend these in a professional setting? Final question for now. What lav/audio system Do you think or have experienced as the most reliable?
Hey hey Emind7! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Due to the world situation I have not gotten a chance to use the Blink 500 Pro in a shoot situation. I used it for my bottom line section in my "hollyland Mars 400s pro" videos. I have not experienced drop outs in these scenarios however it really will be dependent on how WIFI heavy your areas are. If we're talking major professional settings with a budget, then no, you'll want to get more workhorse systems that are tried and true. These are Budget systems for people that just need something decent to work with. The most reliable professional system is the workhorse Sennheiser G3 or G4 series. 2.4ghz systems are nice and cheaper to make, but they have their own problems because of the frequency. Using more traditional UHF systems like the Sennheiser where voice is not processed like the budget UHF systems is what you would want to use in a more professional setting. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Hey hey John! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I am too, it's really weird... Thanks for this review. You are a trusted and fair voice for gear reviews, I appreciate and value your opinion. One question, what is the significance of the -12 dB calibration. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hey hey Ricardo! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The GH5 puts out a -12db test tone when I go into the SMPTE mode. From there I calibrate my Tascam DR40 to that -12db level. This ensures I stress every companies TX preamp at the same level so that when I go into the waveforms, I can see how much "post gain" I need to add to get my voice near the -6db mark. This tells me how aggressive is the audio processing in these units in terms of its Signal to Noise ratio. And what one can expect the noise floor to sound like. Essentially this is the only way I know where I can stress every system the same way so we can find the difference between each system I test. Hope this makes sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
comparing the "rode Wireless go", the "saramonic blink500 pro" and the "comica boomX-D" ... if they are compared using the same lavalier microphone on all three transmitters so that the comparison is fair and without adding recorder gain or post production ... which sounds better? Which has less noise? Which one has more signal at the transmitter output? Thanks :)
Hey hey Ew Ly! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! If they were all compared under those parameters, the RODE GO would be your winner. If you need a 2TX to 1RX setup, the Blink500 Pro would be your winner. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker thanks for answering. I love your videos. for 2 transmitters the "blink500 pro b2" is better in sound quality and lower noise than the "comic boomX-U2"?
You're most welcome! These are two different systems and you will need to make sure your country (if you're not in the USA) allows for the use of 500mhz to be used. Both noise is acceptable, neither one is drastically different from the other. I only do the -12dB calibration to even out the playing field, but if you were to calibrate it to your voice, you would have much lower noise than the -12db calbrated test that I show.
Hi I have the Blink 500 B6, which I use with my Samsung mobile. Is the Blink 500 Pro compatible with the Blink 500 UC receiver? It would great if you could let me know. Cheers
Hey hey again Capricorn12! Incase you didn't see my response to the comment you also asked in. No, the pairing processing between the old and PRO system are different. Unfortunately they won't pair together :(
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks for letting me know. I will order the pro. I will also have to order a cable as the phone that I use has a usb type c port. So I will have to get 3.5 to usb cable. Thanks again for your help
Hey hey Jacob! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I honestly don't really do latency testing unless I look back at my talking head portion, where its just the bare audio going into my camera, and it shows me a very noticeable amount of latency. When the Deity Connect came out having up to 16ms latency it was noticeable but only after someone made mention to it, I'm not sure if they've improved the firmware to help with that since then. So for me 16ms is probably where I would make mention of it, anything less I don't think is as big of a deal for the normal non-filmmaker person watching your video. Thanks again for stopping by! @@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you for responding back! That makes sense. I may get these Saramonics. I just returned my Rode go because it always lost signal when someone barely turned their body. Also, I tried two RodeWirelessGo next to each other with two people talking, the signal constantly broke and I lost audio. It was terrible. I’m hoping this is more reliable. I want that Lark150, but man, do I hate the battery life on those. I wish it lasted a few hours longer. It seems promising.

Hi there , i was wondering if the new receiver pair or connects to the old transmitter?? I currently have the older version of the blink b500 , i am wondering if i can connect my old transmitter with the new receiver
Hey hey Ali! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Unfortunately I don't think you can, mainly because the way the Pro pairing ability is done through the charging case while the original had a Pair button on the TX and RX. So theres no way to get them to recognize each other. Also their chipset inside are probably more tuned for each other instead of being cross compatible across different companies own 2.4ghz systems. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hi, I've just bought the Blink 500 Pro. I expected the audio input level metre to show that I am talking, but it only seems to respond if I put it very close to my mouth, but when clipped on to my jacket it does not show any audio movement. Is that right? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks. I'm a newbie to all this!
Hey Hey Mick! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The Soundbars on the devices, like I said in the video, don't really show much or give you an indication whats really going on. The for-sure way to know a signal is going through is to make sure your camera has the "sound bar" showing or just simply do a sample recording and see whats going on. Other than that the only thing I can say is make sure your your transmitters are set to "mic" and not "line" mode as you are wanting to use it as a mic. Also on the transmitter you can change the level of your mic up or down, you can try all the way up and see what your recordings sound like. As a newbie your best teacher is to try different settings and see which ones work. Asking others in this field will never give you the real answer because everyone situation is different. Don't worry, you're not going to break or destroy anything. Thats the beauty of the digital world, whatever you try can always be reversed if you don't like the setting or if the setting does work. @@TLDR_filmmaker excellent advice. Thanks. I must have missed the bit where you said the soundboard didn't really show much, so I was worried I had a duff. I've had a good play with it and I'm loving it, so once again, thanks for the review. 😊

Hey hey Özcan! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Make sure your audio levels on the Blink 500 pro are at max, to start, so that you can turn your recorder and or camera mic level as low as you can. This is to try and get the best recording possible with these mics. You can try one level lowers than max on the Blink if you would like, but your camera and recorder needs to have its mic level as low as possible. Then proper mic placement to keep your signal around -12 to -6dB as you talk. From there when you raise your levels in edit, it shouldn't be loud. Out of curiosity what is your noise floor registering as in your editor, what dB? Everyone has different ideas of what is acceptable noise floor. If you are looking for pure silence, that won't happen natively, you'd need to use a noise gate. If its under -50dB with you talking at the level at -6db. To me thats good enough range that any noise floor you do hear is natural enough. If all of these settings still produce a loud noise floor, then it could either be that your camera pre-amp is not great and is inherently noisy. Or you may have a defective product. I don't know what else it would be if all your settings and levels are set within range. Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Question, probably stupid, but.... should I remove the small piece of tape covering the contacts on the back of the units? It seems to light up the charging lights even with the tape.
Hey hey again Hewes! I'd say just remove the tape, just to ensure you have full contact. Nothing would be more frustrating that you think it was charging but it wasn't.
@@TLDR_filmmaker Ah, thanks! Now the units are actually charging. I was fooled by the red lights going on when I placed them in the tray. Now the display in the transmitters and receiver show the amount of charge. Thanks! Name here is Joe.
Hey hey Felipe! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I personally won't test latency unless I notice something off during editing. The reason I say this is because on all my wireless mic reviews, you are listen to it going straight into camera with nothing done to it. So thats technically my latency test. If you didn't notice anything and needed to ask what the latency actually is, then that means your eyes didn't notice any latency as you watched. Now of course now that I've said it, you'll go back and try to see if you see it. But that defeats the point because wireless mics go anywhere between 8ms to 16ms (generally). So if you go looking for latency, you'll find it. I understand that some people may need that lowest possible for their application, but for now, its not a test I think is worth going after if the end result is not noticeable enough to cause concern. Hope this makes sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker I didn't notice delays, but as I not an english good speaker, my atencion wasn't on that. Also, I am a beginner on this subject, so its hard to say. Thanks for the video and your answer.
@@TLDR_filmmaker I didn't need to re-watch your video to see the latency; I saw it in the first screening. But... I was looking for it, because previously it was my deciding factor for not purchasing the non-Pro version. I haven't analyzed your video, but I would estimate the audio is running two frames late. Then again, I'm an old TV producer who pushed technicians to perfect analog lip synch, resolution, colour, and other video elements only to see their successes later flushed down the toilet by digital artefacts, pixellation, lag, and other interference that consumers seem happy to accept today. :-) You're work is well done! You are credible. After your video, next up on the TH-cam rotation was a 16-minute review of the Blink Pro, but I had to turn it off after less than 30 seconds. The guy's jump cuts were overpowering. It's tough to take seriously a review of video technology by someone who doesn't understand how the video medium works. Lotsa flash, no bang.

Hey hey Alexander! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Between the two you are enquiring, the Blink 500 Pro beats the BOOM-XD in all categories. Hello I would like to know how does the receiver attached to a camera ? I am looking seriously in buying this product so thanks for the infos H&S 👩❤️👨👍🇨🇦
Hey hey Hélène & Serge! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The receiver attaches onto your cameras hot shoe with the belt clip. If you are using a smartphone or action camera, you just need to make sure you have some sort of cage that gives you a hot or coldshoe mounting point. Of course some velcro or rubberbands can do the trick in a pinch. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
how can I use the blink 500 pro B2 with my Note 20 Ultra? the quality of the dangle would make a difference? I know that probably a dangle that converts a 3.5mm input into a USB C type would do it but I am not sure if the quality of it will actually have an impact on my audio. Thank you
Hey hey again D Mart! The dongle itself wouldn't have an impact on your audio quality, it will be dependent on what program you decide to use to film with. Some will do audio automatically and some will let you have control. Either way I really wouldn't worry about it, the things I discuss are for people like me that want to have fine control of audio so that I can work with it later. If you have no desire to learn all of that and just need something to work. These budget systems will do just fine and you can hear it in the voice of my review as I do not process the audio at all except for raising the overall sound. So what you hear is essentially what you'll hear going into your Note 20.
Dear sir, I have a question for you. I bought a Blink 500 B2 set ( 2 Microphones and one receiver). If I buy one more receiver (Blink 500 RX), can I pair it with one of the two microphones I have, so that I can use 2 separate microphone-receiver sets?Thank you so much
Hey hey Gianfranco! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Yes, with the original Blink 500 (non-pro version) you could purchase another receiver and turn your B2 set into two B1 sets. There is a pairing button that you'd have to press on both RX and TX that you turn on so that you pair the TX over to the new RX. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Hey hey Kevin! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Definitely a great feature! @@TLDR_filmmaker this would be super useful, ever since covid we have been doing a lot more live streaming at church events. This would be a great for streaming at a guest location where we can plug into someone's existing mixer on one transmitter, and maybe a shotgun on the other transmitter.. Already using a laptop and a LTE hotspot to stream now. Living in Hawaii, we do have a lot of events on other islands when visiting other churches, so having a portable streaming setup for live events has been on my mind, once travel opens up.
Saramonic blink pro or comics boom xd? Which is better to use for music set -1channel to voice recordings and -2 channel to cello (‘or flute ) to record directly in iOS? Or through zoom h1? ( live music setup) And any possibilities to use those as AMSR recording style? Comica is better in this case?
Hey hey Роман! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I would select the Saramonic Blink Pro, the mic response is more natural than the Boom XD (which has Low Cut Filter on by default, you can't turn it off). However when it comes to recording audio like what you want to do. These budget mics are not meant for those applications. While they will work and you will get sound, it doesn't mean you'll get the richness that you may be aiming for. These are meant to just capture voices quickly and easily and there are lots of post processing happening in the background before it gets to your recorder, this may or may not give affect your desired sound. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Looking several reviews of several products wireless audio recording. What is often missing: * How easy is it to export the recorded audio to your PC/Mac? * Is there a backup recorded audio on the transmitters ? * How easy is it to accidentally turn the transmitter of (in a pocket) * How easy is it to detach the attached microphone (also, e.g. if the transmitter in the speakers pocket) In most reviews those infos are missing, or just partially added. Please include such info in the future, thank you!
Hey hey Harald! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! 1) This video is a bit old and the reviewed audio kits in the video did not have internal recording, so thus why I didn't talk about that. All my videos that have covered internal recording capable units I have talked about how easy it is to export. 2) All current internal recording capable audio kits do not have back up of the internal recording. The internal recording serves as a backup to your cameras own audio recording from the wireless audio kits Receiver 3) Sort of related to concern #4. It's not that easy in general to turn these things off in your pocket because the button placements are not on the front flat side by design. They are on the sides of the unit so that if you were to bend down with the Transmitter in your pocket, your body wouldn't be able to press onto the transmitter. Also a lot of these systems require you to hold down the power button for a couple seconds before it actually turns off; a safety measure by design. 4) Generally speaking if you are going to wire someone up, its a good practice to just clip the transmitter onto the persons pants or belt loop. If they are bing super active in which you want to put the transmitter into their pocket, I'd advice against this as you risk breaking the lavalier mics plug point. If they are not being too active but you just want the transmitter not on the rim of the pants. I would suggest to not toss the Transmitter into the pocket, but rather you just clip it to the rim of the pocket with the transmitter safely inside the pocket. This way your Mic plug won't get damaged as easily. That being said I have indeed just slipped my transmitter either in my pants pocket or jacket pocket before to get some audio. But I am standing or just walking around and not doing crazy large movements. The mic stayed in place and I was never in any danger of accidentally turn off the units. Hope this makes sense why I didn't talk about the topics you wanted covered, in general #3-4 aren't really concerns because of design. And #1-2 is dependent on the product I review if it actually has internal recording features built in. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Thank you so much for the reply! I am not a film-make or so, but I do record tech talks from our developer meetup. So far, the Tascam DR-10L did an awesome job, but I would love to have something I can directly record into the video, since that would reduce my post 'production' time a lot. Speakers can do a lot of crazy things when they present and are nervous because of speaking in front of an audience, ... this is why I like to put the recorder into their pockets. But maybe with a wireless transmitter this is not a good idea anyway, and I will adopt that practice. Haven't decided yet what to buy, so I will watch some more or your videos. I am sorry for the noobie question but am I able to purchase 2 of these systems for a total of 4 microphones? I have been trying to research as much as I can but I think I am looking in the wrong places.
Hey hey HardCarry! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! No worries my friend, in theory you can run 2 total setups. You'll just need two cameras for each receiver or a 4ch field recorder. That being said I do not have access to two units to test how well they run in vicinity with each other, so your performance may vary. That being said, at this time, I would suggest the RODE Wireless Go II as the better option for money. I recently put out the review if you are interested in checking out that option. Thanks! Could you do a review comparing the Saramonic blink 500 pro b2 to the Rode SC6-L Mobile Interview Kit (SC6-L splitter with two smart lav +)? The wireless set up would be certainly more convenient. However, is the audio quality from the wired lav set up noticeably better than the wireless setup?
Hey hey Austin! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Unfortunately probably not as I don't really use mobile devices for content creation. Rode has a very specific sound thats more flat in response than how Saramonic does their sound. Saramonic usually has more bass response. But in the end if you wanted to EQ them both, you can get them to sound very similar. Between the two it becomes a question of what are you using it for, if you are filming yourself with it or are you just using it to capture audio only. If it is the later, going wired only has it's benefits of not needing additional battery and charging and the chance of potential RF interference in a heavy Wifi area. Hope this helps! Hey hey Chris! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Nice vid!! Which wireless mic system would you prefer for an iPhone; using while walking and vlogging on a trail and in a dance studio filming instructional vids. Thoughts? Which systems do you like? Thanks!!! I'm currently using the Sennheiser XS with Lav.
Hey hey TheTrailDancer! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The Sennheiser XSW system you have is a great system for your wireless needs. If you haven't already, all you need is a TRS to TRRS cable to get it to work with your phone. If your phone doesn't have a audio jack, then you'll just need to get the adaptor for it. I understand this is more wireless than desired so there are systems that the Saramonic Blink has where you can plug a receiver directly into your phones charging port. Its convenient, but the chances of you snapping it off is a bit higher depending on your use case, and they usually don't have any passthrough charging port if you want to charge and use the system as the same time. So it's kind of a toss up on what works for you. Do you want to rig out the cellphone a little bit or do you want just a receiver attached and call it good. Hope this makes sense and helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
I understand, what I mean when I said you should "rig out the cellphone" is to buy a cage frame setup so that you can attach your XSW to it and not have it hanging. Because you will still need to do this with the Rode Go 2. If you search for cellphone cage or cellphone filmmaker cage on amazon you'll see what I mean. Its not the most streamline solution, but it solves the problem for wireless audio. Hope this further helps.
Hi, bought Blink500 Pro B2 after watched this video. Thanks. One question - there are no sound (and no waveform on the OLED) when I plugged in the supplied Lav mic (the TX set to Line in input). Same issue on both TX and lav mics. Any idea why? The TX’s built in mic worked perfectly. Update: Checked with Saramonic support - when use lav mic the transmitter must put to Mic In and not Line In.

Hi, thanks for the painstaking tests through out! Did you try the Audio-Technica System 10, also 2.4Ghz, dual antennas on camera receiver with the body pad transmitter Lav mic and handheld dynamic mic with built in transmitter? It's worth comparing with the 2.4Ghz gears you tested Thank you!
Hey Hey again Gabriel! Funny enough I was helping my friend with a corporate shoot early this week and he had some system 10's. From what I heard on playblack, it sounded nice. But I would say its a different tier of products as it is more traditional in size vs these smaller ones. My guess is that it can sustain a stronger signal with its antennas, but the RODE GO II is doing quite well for its size and distance ability. When it comes down to it though, the common person is probably not going to be using a wireless system to film someone 100 feet away unless they specifically do conferences. If you are just at home, in a studio, vlogging, interviews etc where you're essentially always within 20-25ft of someone, all these systems will do decently well. It just depends on what form factor do you like, battery type, and any additional features you need to perform your task.
Hey hey Waleed! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! It depends, the two you mentioned are not similar in how they transmit a signal. Blink is a 2.4ghz system, Boom XU is a 500mhz system. They are completely different systems and are not compatible with each other. 2.4ghz you are familiar with, its your wifi and everything around you. 500mhz is more like radio stations and maybe TV broadcast. So there will be with different amounts of "traffic" on the frequencies depending on where you are. 2.4ghz systems have its own algorithms to signal hop in real time to try and be on the cleanest channel, but its not always perfect. UHF systems, some of them have Freq. scan to try and fine the cleanest channel ahead of time, it usually does not have frequency hops that Im aware of. 2.4ghz are shorter waves, which means it has a hard time getting through walls or things blocking its way. UHF is longer waves and have the better ability to get through obstructions (pending on material) but it may not always have the longest range depending on power used in the antenna. Lastly, depending on your country, you need to know if you can use the 500mhz or whatever UHF frequency on the wireless mic freely. Not all countries allow the free use of 500mhz, some may be different like 600mhz etc. Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
If this really works through walls then this is a go. I've tried the synco and it cuts in and out in the same room if the person turns around. I DO still love the audio gain of the hollyland mics though. I wonder if they work through walls (and human bodies) as well?
Hey hey Roberto! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I've reviewed the Hollyland Lark150 here: th-cam.com/video/k4AQLoz_1-k/w-d-xo.html That is weird about the synco not working inside of a room with the body blocking the way. All the 2.4ghz systems Ive tested were able to work inside a house with wooden walls (key point). Concrete walls may do something different when you're in or out of the room. But for the most part, wood walls are fine with these systems as they work just like a wifi router signal that can go through walls. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey TKOMGdotnet! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Hands down the Blink500 PRO is better against the BoomXD. Hey hey Son! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The B# are the different models. B1 is only one channel and B2 is the dual channel with two transmitters. The others are the mobile models where the transmitter is not a universal one that can go into cameras or smartphones. Those are more specific with Lightning or USB-C ports. However the Pro version DOES NOT have B3 - B5, this is the old model and not the same in terms of features and battery life. Thanks again for stopping by! Hi. Did you experience any audio loss in your recording? I have been experiencing pretty bad audio loss. Can anyone share your experience and if there is anyway to overcome it?
Hey hey 伟强! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This depends on a few factors, are you outside in the open with the TX hidden behind your body? (reference my outdoor test of where cutout happens). If you are indoors in an apartment building, there could be too many wifi signals around that the system can't hope successfully to different frequencies. If non of these are the case, there could be a defect with your system. I have not experience any drop outs in my use cases so far. My TX and RX are always within line of sight with each other. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Hi. Thanks for replying. It was a brand new set and my RX and TX were within line of set. We did a Facebook live in the first week of receiving this new set. We were using the blink 500 b2 non pro version before and notice similar audio loss of up to 0.5 seconds intermittently. But for this pro version was much worse. Our audio loss could range between 1 to 5 seconds. Audiences also noticed the audio loss. One of the obvious audio loss was probably 4-5 seconds where the speakers were seated while speaking and facing the TX. Just wondering if this is an issue with most 2.4ghz wireless mic.
Hello, Thank you for detailed reviews which looks like a masterclass and at the same time keeping it very simple. Appreciate the effort you take to test various parameters of each products before you come up with its review.👌 I just ordered my Comica Boom X-U2 after watching your review. I have not received it, but now I am in a dilemma. My straight question is: For a fictional filmmaking setup (just like yours), if you had to choose one of these two, which one would you go with? Also I guess it's almost time for another ultimate comparison review of these systems like the one you did last year. 😊
Hey hey Paul! Thank you so much for checking this video and asking a question! When it comes to Narrative work, I would choose the Boom XU over the Blink500 pro, simply because it is using 500hz instead of the more common 2.4ghz. In my testings the Boom-XU was just too good in and out of line of sight that gives me more peace of mine when using it in various areas. Haha I'll definitely need to do a new comparison of my favorite selections! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I'll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker I agree fully; my 500 MHz wireless mics are unbeatable. (For the benefit of newbies: The Boom is 500 MHz, not 500 Hz. But increasingly, regulators are clawing back the 500 MHz to 700 MHz spectrum from wireless mics and reassigning it to other applications, thus rendering the wireless mics illegal to use, because they'll interfere with the other devices. In fact, all the 600 to 700 MHz might now be gone. I use three Sennheiser mics each configurable from 518 to 554 MHz in an area where the 500 MHz is still available, and I can transmit amazing quality about a half-mile with zero dropout.)
Hey hey Rob! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! With the wireless TX and RX set to their max audio settings. I use my GH5 camera to generate a -12db tone through the headphone port when I'm in the SMPTE color bar calibration menu. That goes into the TX mic input, the RX goes into my linear audio recorder. From there I adjust the audio recorders pre-amp until I reach -12db. From there I record what preamp I am set at for the field recorder so I have reference how each wireless mic I test compares with each other. And from there I speak normally for the audio tests to see how the mics behave after its been through this calibration. This usually gives me an idea of how much processing the RX and TX do if I have to pump up the post gain a lot. This isn't necessarily the most perfect method as you would normally just calibrate to someones speaking voice instead of letting the TX and RX post processing take over. But at the same time it gives us an idea of what those processes may be and gives all these budget wireless systems the same starting point. Hope this makes sense! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
I found that there is also a Saramonic Blink 500 Pro B2 (Lite Edition) which is around $67 cheaper than the normal Blink 500 Pro B2 in my country. The only difference is that the Receiver in Lite Edition does not have a display screen on it (the transmitters have the displays). Do you know if there are any other difference? Do you think it is a big loss without the display screen on the Receiver? The price diff. of $67 seems like pretty good deal!
Hey hey Nithiporn Pukalanant! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I unfortunately do not know if there are any major differences aside from the one you mentioned. I was not aware there was a Lite version. My guess is the receivers settings won't be manageable like the ability to put out a Stereo signal instead of mono signal when using two transmitters. I would just read the specifications and see if theres any features you needed that was done on the receivers end. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey RZ Experience! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Not that I'm aware of, in this video you are listening to it plugged straight into the camera, no altering of audio timing what-so-ever. The last bit that you need to determine on your own is if you want to use a built-in battery system of a AA battery system where you can swap out super fast. Hope this helps! Funny.... the saramonic drops audio every time ti walks outside and turns around (5:45). This is an issue for any professional recorder. Body blocking is an issue when you turn. This means that as you film moving around the subject, this will be an issue. Too bad that you cannot rely on this system for outdoor moving dialog.
Hey hey Orlando! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Keep in mind the distances I am walking in when my body blocks the TX. Generally speaking these systems are good up to about 20ft in the wide open outdoors. If there were buildings nearby or on a sidewalk, its a different story. This test is to give you an idea of the worst situation. That being said these systems are so small today, its not as big of a deal to hide it on the front side of the person depending on the setup. But yes, if your work needs good signal at all given times. The RODE Wireless GO II that I recently reviewed performs the best in the 2.4ghz freq system: th-cam.com/video/3TOldrv9iEE/w-d-xo.html Otherwise a UHF system, depending on the country, is the preferable method for that type of run and gun work outdoors. Does the saramonic have internal recording like the rode go ii? Also, will these settings be okay for a sit down interview... Sony A7iii audio Level: 3 Saramonic TX: Mic Gain 6. Will this be a good starting point before I adjust? Thanks for this video!!
Hey hey again LegendaryOn99! No, this Blink 500 pro when it came out was before RODE released their 2nd version that had internal recording. These will be fine for a sit down interview, no problem. Yes, those settings are a good starting point to see how loud your speaker is. On the A7iii you can go all the way up to +7 if you'd like. I move between +3 and +7 if needed without too much self noise.
I'm curious ...when you were walking around through the studio were you using the lav with the saramonic or the built in mic? I really feel like lavs on a lot of these small systems act as antennas.
Hey hey again Roberto! I was using the build in mic for indoor obstruction tests. There's probably something to be said about the lavs acting like some sort of antenna. Though having tested multiple systems outdoors, some with or without the lavs. The results are also typically similar and I don't notice a drastic difference to distance between using the lav or not.
Hey hey Ben! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! It should work with it, the TX clip is the same as the RX so it can fit into a hotshoe mount. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey again Trend 23! I can't make a video directly comparing all the wireless systems I have. The best way to compare is to pull up both videos reviews and play back the tests I do during the test section. All the systems are tested in the same conditions so you can get an idea of what the difference in sound are. One of these days I hope to do a website where people can download those files and compare.
Hey hey Angelo! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Yes, this will work since the Videomic NTG has a regular 3.5mm port. I've tested it with the RODE GO II and it rejects 2.4ghz very well, so the Blink 500 pro should not be a problem. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey David! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Yup, the GH5 is one of the first couple cameras that came out in that era that had a awesome sensitive pre-amp. Pretty much can run any mic without needing to up the preamp setting too high from -12. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey 4K I! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Yes, this is what the dual system version does where you take both Transmitters to the one Receiver. The key feature is that Mono and Stereo split feature that I mentioned. The stereo split feature allows for more post editing options when you are working with two people talking to each other. I cover this very briefly in this video: th-cam.com/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/w-d-xo.html Now the receiver does need to be plugged into a camera or a Recorder with a Stereo XLR split. The receiver itself does not record on its own. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks for your reply and the info, it is really appreciated :) Do let me know if I´m wrong, but as far as I´ve understood, it is possible to connect the saramonic system to a recorder (e.g: Tascam DR-60D/DR-22Wl) and capture stereo audio from both transmitters. Am I right?
Correct, you need to use a 3.5mm to XLR Stereo splitter so that you can record each TX to its own channel when using a recorder. Make sure your RX is set to Stereo output and NOT mono. DO NOT buy a 3.5mm to XLR cable, you will not get the split recording between the two TX. It will just mix it together into a mono signal because an XLR cable is only a single channel signal.
Quick Q, I was recording with the Saramonic and the Lavalier mic, I did a sound check, but when I recorded some of the sound dropped out. Do you know which setting I should be looking at and adjusting?
Hey hey Dennis! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This is not necessarily a setting that needs to be changed, rather it could be a affect of your filming conditions. I'm not sure if you were too far away outdoors or in an area filled with 2.4ghz signals. General practice is to keep the TX and RX in light of sight at all times because of the nature of 2.4ghz being everywhere we go. It's small enough that you can hide it somewhere within line of sight under cloths. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
@@DennisMaynard Hmm.. thats odd, I wonder if the Lav's plug was being pushed around inside the pocket. At 3ft away you should be fine to clip it on your belt and behind you out of line of sight. Otherwise it may be way too many Wifi networks nearby.
Hey hey nicehoopers! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The clipping sound here and there was actually my Sony A7iii and not the Blink 500 Pro. I found out Sony's preamp settings are not what they seem and will cause you to clip even though you're recording to -12dB. If you're a Sony user and running into the same problem here and there, this might be it: th-cam.com/video/Bh_gfEsFGtA/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for stopping by! Great review, very comprehensive. I am not sure if you said that the kit does not come with a second usb to usb-A. Any how, on their website Saramonic (canada ), they do mention the following: 1’ (30.5 cm) Gold-Plated USB-C to USB-A Charging Cable 1’ (30.5 cm) Gold-Plated Micro USB to USB-A Charging Cable Thanks
Hey hey Suliman! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! It just comes with the Micro and the USB C. Im sure Saramonic assumes that you will always use the charging case to charge all units with one USB Cable. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
Hey hey Michelle! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! If you are only using one transmitter, you need to make sure your receiver is set to "mono" so that audio is coming out of both channel. When you are using two transmitters you can do either mono or stereo. The reason you want to use stereo sometimes is so you can adjust each speaker. I talk about it in this video: th-cam.com/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/w-d-xo.html Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!
How do you compare Saramonic to the Comica Audio BoomX-D? I was planning to buy this kit, but now I am wondering which one is better. My friend, you are a very good teacher, I don't miss seeing your videos, thank you so much...
Thanks for another amazing review. I’m glad I didn’t buy the Rode wireless go. I was actually looking at the Synco g2 yesterday but I must say Saramonic wins.
Hey hey again David! You're most welcome! Glad this video came in time! Definitely a very nice system and happy to see that Saramonic basically improved everything from the original!
Any chance you could do a portable sound recorder shootout? Literally no one has done a decent comparison of them. E. g. Zoom h1n, sony pcm A10, olympus lsp4, tascam Dr07x. Many thanks.
Hey hey again Mustafa! Unfortunately, probably not, mainly because I don't have these recorders, and I'm not too sure that recorders sound quality from recent generations are all that different, especially with 32bit float becoming more accessible. If I were to start reviewing recorders, instead of testing them with great microphones, I would actually test them with bad microphones to see how they handle a low output signal. But as I said, when it comes to recent recorders from the last 3 years or so, they are seem to perform and sound great.
Was literally about to pull the trigger on the double RODE's today, then you released this video, I think I'm sold on the Saramonics!

So glad the video game out on time and that it was helpful! This is easily the biggest competitor against the RODE GO to date in the 2.4ghz arena, I look forward to see how Saramonic continues to develop their systems as this is a huge update from the original Blink500 system!

Thanks for subbing!
the old blink 500 had a latency of 80 millisecond! thats a 2 frames late on a 25fps timeline, thats unacceptable! is the new pro better?
Hey hey Daphne!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
I'm not entirely sure as I don't usually do a specific test for latency. The reason I don't is because I am already using the system to record the talking head portion of the review. If my eyes don't immediately notice it in my videos when editing, then I don't dive deeper into it. For context, this video was shot in 30p with 10+ wifi networks around and my smartphone and laptop nearby. I don't know if wifi being around causes more latency as I don't recall my Blink500 videos looking like they had a latency issue.

Great review. Just picked up a barely used B2 kit for £125 ($170) An absolute steal...

are these better than the comica boom xu?
They have a few more settings. For instance, you can specify the mic gain manually. They also seem to be a little smaller and have a longer battery life. The case is a nice addition too. The only thing the BoomX-U has going for it is the - in my opinion - better looks and range; UHF tends to offer higher quality audio at greater distances.

@@TLDR_filmmaker thanks, but talking about overall audio quality, which of them will you recommend?
I choose the Saramonic Blink500 Pro. The BoomXD has a Lowcut filter you can't turn off. The Saramonic has a more fuller sound. The built in mic is actually quite good on its own if you don't want to use the lav.
I've got a project coming up next year. I hope the Blink500 Pro makes it to the European market before then. The extra cost of ~50€ over the BoomX-D seems worth it.

Then you should definitely check out the Comica Boom XU: th-cam.com/video/k6tDHGUb3f8/w-d-xo.html
To date it is the most budget friendly UHF system I have tested. Hope this helps!

@@TLDR_filmmaker thank you!
Why did they cut out every time you turned around in the distance test?

Hope this makes sense!

comparing the "rode Wireless go", the "saramonic blink500 pro" and the "comica boomX-D" ... if they are compared using the same lavalier microphone on all three transmitters so that the comparison is fair and without adding recorder gain or post production ... which sounds better? Which has less noise? Which one has more signal at the transmitter output? Thanks :)

Thanks :)

Curious why you didn’t bring up the 12ms latency
Hey hey Jacob!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
I honestly don't really do latency testing unless I look back at my talking head portion, where its just the bare audio going into my camera, and it shows me a very noticeable amount of latency. When the Deity Connect came out having up to 16ms latency it was noticeable but only after someone made mention to it, I'm not sure if they've improved the firmware to help with that since then. So for me 16ms is probably where I would make mention of it, anything less I don't think is as big of a deal for the normal non-filmmaker person watching your video.

@@TLDR_filmmaker Thank you for responding back! That makes sense. I may get these Saramonics. I just returned my Rode go because it always lost signal when someone barely turned their body. Hey hey Ali!

Unlike the analogue world where if you mess up you sometimes gotta buy another unit just to give it a second try. So don't worry, be fearless, as a newbie this is the best time to be one! Have fun and good luck!

I get a lot of floor noise with saramonic blink 500 pro b1. How can I solve this issue? Thank you already.

Could you test if it has a latency delay, please?
@@TLDR_filmmaker
I didn't need to re-watch your video to see the latency; I saw it in the first screening. :-)
You're work is well done! You are credible. After your video, next up on the TH-cam rotation was a 16-minute review of the Blink Pro, but I had to turn it off after less than 30 seconds. The receiver attaches onto your cameras hot shoe with the belt clip. If you are using a smartphone or action camera, you just need to make sure you have some sort of cage that gives you a hot or coldshoe mounting point. Of course some velcro or rubberbands can do the trick in a pinch.

how can I use the blink 500 pro B2 with my Note 20 Ultra? the quality of the dangle would make a difference?

Looking several reviews of several products wireless audio recording. What is often missing:
* How easy is it to export the recorded audio to your PC/Mac?
* Is there a backup recorded audio on the transmitters ?
* How easy is it to accidentally turn the transmitter of (in a pocket)
* How easy is it to detach the attached microphone (also, e.g. if the transmitter in the speakers pocket)
In most reviews those infos are missing, or just partially added.
The internal recording serves as a backup to your cameras own audio recording from the wireless audio kits Receiver
3) Sort of related to concern #4.

You would need a 3.5mm to Stereo XLR breakout cable like this one: geni.us/gt1A9 (Amazon Affiliate Link)

@@TLDR_filmmaker Ta it's just tough to use with iPhone :( was looking at the Rode Go 2
I understand, what I mean when I said you should "rig out the cellphone" is to buy a cage frame setup so that you can attach your XSW to it and not have it hanging. Because you will still need to do this with the Rode Go 2.
If you search for cellphone cage or cellphone filmmaker cage on amazon you'll see what I mean. Its not the most streamline solution, but it solves the problem for wireless audio.
Hope this further helps.

So which one should I buy for outdoor recording?
Hey hey Shaun李好!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
Between these two specifically, they both will work exactly the same outdoors. However with the release of the new RODE GO II. That one is my current recommendation for anyone looking to get a 2.4ghz style wireless audio pack. It has amazing distance outdoors and its onboard recording ensures you never lose audio no matter what. All my review videos on the RODE GO II are here:

Hi, thanks for the painstaking tests through out!
Did you try the Audio-Technica System 10, also 2.4Ghz, dual antennas on camera receiver with the body pad transmitter Lav mic and handheld dynamic mic with built in transmitter?
It's worth comparing with the 2.4Ghz gears you tested
Thank you!
Thanks for the great in depth review. How do you see the Saramonic Blink500 Pro stands with Comica BoomX-U?

I've reviewed the Hollyland Lark150 here: th-cam.com/video/k4AQLoz_1-k/w-d-xo.html
That is weird about the synco not working inside of a room with the body blocking the way. All the 2.4ghz systems Ive tested were able to work inside a house with wooden walls (key point). Concrete walls may do something different when you're in or out of the room. But for the most part, wood walls are fine with these systems as they work just like a wifi router signal that can go through walls.

What is the B2 in the Saramonic ? On eBay, I'm seeing 5 different Bs - B1, B2, B3, B4, & B5.

Buy the Pro version, the audio is every so slightly different, but the Pro version has fixed all the other problems that the original Blink 500 had that made it not as useful. Mainly the battery life, size, and Stereo functionality.

@@TLDR_filmmaker
Hi.
Is it possible to calibrate the saramonic from a smart phone?
Hey hey again Austin!
No, all settings and such need to be done on the unit itself.
Hello, Thank you for detailed reviews which looks like a masterclass and at the same time keeping it very simple. Appreciate the effort you take to test various parameters of each products before you come up with its review.👌
I just ordered my Comica Boom X-U2 after watching your review. I have not received it, but now I am in a dilemma. My straight question is:
For a fictional filmmaking setup (just like yours), if you had to choose one of these two, which one would you go with?
Also I guess it's almost time for another ultimate comparison review of these systems like the one you did last year. 😊
Hey hey Paul!
Thank you so much for checking this video and asking a question!
When it comes to Narrative work, I would choose the Boom XU over the Blink500 pro, simply because it is using 500hz instead of the more common 2.4ghz. In my testings the Boom-XU was just too good in and out of line of sight that gives me more peace of mine when using it in various areas.
Haha I'll definitely need to do a new comparison of my favorite selections!

@@TLDR_filmmaker
I agree fully; my 500 MHz wireless mics are unbeatable.
Curious what the "-12db signal calibration" is.

Not that I'm aware of, in this video you are listening to it plugged straight into the camera, no altering of audio timing what-so-ever. Hi! How would you compare the blink500 Pro B2 vs the 2020 Saramonic UWMic 9 Kit 2?
Hey hey djvincon!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
They are completely different systems. Blink is a 2.4ghz wireless system while the UWmic9 is a UHF 500mhz system. So they are not really comparable because they operate on different frequencies.

Lastly, depending on your country, you need to know if you can use the 500mhz or whatever UHF frequency on the wireless mic freely. Not all countries allow the free use of 500mhz, some may be different like 600mhz etc.
So those are your major things to think about.

The RODE Wireless GO II that I recently reviewed performs the best in the 2.4ghz freq system: th-cam.com/video/3TOldrv9iEE/w-d-xo.html
Otherwise a UHF system, depending on the country, is the preferable method for that type of run and gun work outdoors.

I can't make a video directly comparing all the wireless systems I have. The best way to compare is to pull up both videos reviews and play back the tests I do during the test section. Great vid! One question: Can I record audio simultaneously from both transmitters to a receiver?
Hey hey 4K I!
Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
Yes, this is what the dual system version does where you take both Transmitters to the one Receiver. The key feature is that Mono and Stereo split feature that I mentioned. The stereo split feature allows for more post editing options when you are working with two people talking to each other. I cover this very briefly in this video: th-cam.com/video/3mtGjRTQL5w/w-d-xo.html
Now the receiver does need to be plugged into a camera or a Recorder with a Stereo XLR split. The receiver itself does not record on its own.

@@TLDR_filmmaker Great, thanks!! I´ve just bought it, i´ll try it out asap :)

@@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks for the reply. It was in my pocket 3 ft from the camera and RX. I'll have to experiment more.

If you are only using one transmitter, you need to make sure your receiver is set to "mono" so that audio is coming out of both channel. When you are using two transmitters you can do either mono or stereo. The reason you want to use stereo sometimes is so you can adjust each speaker.
