    I work for an LTL carrier that has the privilege of delivering Rec Tec grills. I'm always excited to deliver a Rec Tec. I only wish I had the Rec Tec theme song to play when I get to deliver a new Rec Tec grill.

    You need to release an electronics upgrade for the RT 700 to add the 5ghz WiFi connection.

    • @TadaYada
      @TadaYada 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      2.4ghz is suitable. Did you know that 5ghz is limited range? Sure its faster but I don't think it will benefit the readings.

    • @runtheworld8517
      @runtheworld8517 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with that. But you can always hookup up. 30$ cheap 2.4 ghz router to your 5Ghz main AP. This is what I have at my home and it works like a charm

  • @jahweekes

    Some good upgrades over my RT700, especially the second rack. But IMO, it’s still missing a hopper clean out chute so you can change pellet flavours. Also would have liked to see a burn pot ash clean out chute. Also, I can’t stand the lack of clearance between the drip tray and the cooking grate - you can’t get a regular size foil tray under there. I was hoping they’d create some more clearance with this version. But that’s pretty minor. Finally, it would be nice to have some sort of mesh steel integrated into the chimney and drip hole to keep out critters (especially in the winters where everything is looking to get inside the grill). But overall definitely a step in the right direction. These guys make great products that are extremely well built.

    • @rmcg1965
      @rmcg1965 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The way meat prices have risen, those critters are just an added bonus! Seriously though, I have the RT680 for several years now and narry a complaint. However that built in wifi may just be worth the price of admission.

    Geez, I just bought the 700 last month! If I had known this was coming I would’ve waited, lol! I do like having split grill grates on my 700 over the one piece though. Makes cleaning easier and I can always lift one out to keep clean if I don’t need it. I do however like the folding shelf’s hinge design on this better than mine.

    Still…… You can’t empty the hopper unless you “dig/scoop” the pellets out. Just design the hopper with a way to dump it. I’m still leaning to Camp Chef. I travel so if I’m 4 weeks from my next smoke I need to empty the hopper. WHY? Don’t you just add a simple pellet dump mechanism?

    • @Cne7son
      @Cne7son 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That can cause moisture to leak in the pellets.

    • @hiltonhead03
      @hiltonhead03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cne7son Leak into the pellets? If you have a “trap door” at the bottom of the hopper to allow the pellets to drain into a sealable container, the pellets would remain fresh and dry for your next smoke. Leaving the grill outside for an extended amount of time would allow moisture intrusion to occur. Please tell me more about your response. Aloha

    • @TViper2369
      @TViper2369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hiltonhead03 A year and a half in, in the humid south, and I've never had a problem with moisture in the pellets. It's never sat empty and it's on an open air, covered back porch with no grill cover.
      So the idea that you need to remove the pellets from the hopper is overkill, IMO.

    First smoke will be a metric ton of spare ribs, and I'll be using that upper shelf for the rib tips and scraps from the cuts. Will be curious to see if there's a temperature difference anywhere. My RT-590 cooks about 15-25° hotter on the back right than anywhere else.

    I'm going to be upgrading from my smaller 24 inch pellet grill before the end of the year, it's not a Recteq but it's served me very well & has been very reliable for 3.5 years, I just need a bigger pellet grill. Love the Recteqs, got to use my buddy's RT-2500 numerous times, & I am having a hard time not pulling the trigger on the RT-1250, the only thing holding me back is the lack of a hopper pellet dump. I know a lot of people don't see the need for it, but if you've ever had a pellet dust backfire through the auger, you'll understand the benefit of having that hopper pellet dump. Pellet dust occurs even with sifting pellets & can build up a lot in the hopper & the auger over time, & it can make for a dangerous situation. My current one has one, & once every 6 months, I empty the hopper, run the feed to empty the pellets in the auger, then blast out all the dust with my air compressor. I pushed off doing that this summer & the pellet dust caught fire in the auger & started traveling to the hopper where it could've done all kinds of damage. I removed my pork shoulders & transferred them to my oven, shut the smoker down, dumped the pellets in the hopper, & saw it hadn't reached the hopper yet, ran the feed so the pellets dumped into the fire pot to burn out, then did my normal cleanout with my compressor & had her fired up & going again in 20 minutes to finish the cook. The Recteqs are sturdier than what I have & are beautiful to boot, it's the hopper dump that's only holding me back, add that to your next models & I'm a Reteq man for life!

    Just assembled my RT1250 & I love it, but while watching this video I heard him say "all stainless steel hardware". I have to disagree, you're close but you used zinc emt fittings and conduit for the wire protection. I was really surprised that this was not stainless steel. With a hefty price tag I don't think that it would have made that much of a difference in the overall cost of the grill.

  • @waynespringer501
    @waynespringer501 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    So this is basically an RT-700 with an included $170 of front folding and interior shelf, priced at $400 more to cover that and a cast iron deflector (that will rust), outlet, and conduit.

    • @NotSoFast71
      @NotSoFast71 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus it's almost twice the cooking area. 1250 square inches versus 700. That might be worth mentioning. Add why would it matter if the deflector rusts? Other than when you clean the grill, you don't even see it. It's about more even heat distribution.

    • @jf6720
      @jf6720 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Or a little more than a 590 with a second shelf for twice the price!

    • @waynespringer501
      @waynespringer501 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NotSoFast71 The reason for the more cooking area is because of the interior shelf is included which only adds $64 to the price of a RT-700. The actual dimensions of the grill look to be identical to the RT-700. WHY it matters is because rust flakes off, and directly below that deflector is a fan blower. Rust flakes on the food would not be tasty.

      Publicly, it appears RT isn't answering the question about this being a 700 with upgrades. Many people think it's a bigger grill, but it's not. The main grate surface area for the 1250 and 700 are the same. The larger capacity is due to the included larger top shelf. The barrels are the same.

      Exactly the same bottom.
      Grill is exactly the same, hence why the cover fits both
      It’s the 700 with “implied value” added to justify the increase to help with the inflation for goods.
      700 is still a much much better value. If anyone thinks these additions will make the grill smoke 33% better, I would disagree. Because you’re paying a third more for gimmicks. Ironically the same type of gimmicks they used to pride themselves on avoiding, like ash dumps and pellet dump.
