You don’t need to, at least you could say goodbye and as long as you hold him in your heart that’s something to value. I’m 26, and my 19 year old sister, my only sibling, died in a car accident on Memorial Day this year. I got to hold on her on life support for a few days, but I never had the chance to speak with her through it, and it hurts, I feel guilt for every confrontational moment I had with her, but it’s not worth engaging with those feelings. Life is unexpected, it’s sad, hell, today my grandmother fucked up her knee and a puppy my vet tech aunt was caring for died at Christmas dinner, but I still managed to have a good holiday. Life is complicated and sad and wonderful and confusing much like the doctor, but it falls to us left here to carry on. None of us are perfect but we all do our best and the moments we are able to have with our loved ones are what really matter, even if they are not exactly what we hoped them to be, much love my stranger friend 💜
Both my Grandparents Died together. My Grandfather passed on 09/20/2021 and my grandmother passed on 09/21/2021. I couldn’t be with them. I had to say my goodbyes through an iPad
I was lucky enough that my grandmother passed away at home but for me it was the day after Christmas last year. This episode hit too close as well as I’m a believer in Jesus, so I’m an emotional wreck after this episode.

This was such a beautiful Christmas special. I really appreciate pieces of work conveying stories where the characters have to confront emotions that someone might not associate with the celebrated occasion the special might be made for like Christmas, as an example. Christmas isn't always the best or most cheerful holiday for everyone for one reason or another so I appreciated that they told a story that might be able to emotionally resonate with a lot of different people including people who have it especially hard during the holidays. I really appreciate that they were able to tell this type of story and still end on a message that will instill a sense of hope and continue to spread Joy to the World.
I adored this episode, not only for Ncuti & Nicola, but also Jonathan Aris (the Silurian manager), Steph de Whalley (Anita), & the amazing Joel Fry (Trev). Ncuti reminds me *so* much of a modern Cary Grant: such charisma, warmth, wit and talent. Cannot wait for next series 💜💜➕🌈🟦
Fascinating episode. I liked the hotel. The way he took the long way round. I thought that the star seed might be a bigger threat. Great cast. The racists will scream "not my drwho" because they are just idiots.
You know not everyone is a racist, right? I happened to love this episode, I happen to love all of Ncuti Gatwa’s run so far. But if I didn’t, it doesn’t make me a racist. It’s possible to dislike something for other reasons.
@@zanderbraincinemas6126 Yeah, they're not talking about the rational ones with legitimate criticisms. It goes without saying that they are singling out the racists specifically.
It's not racism that makes me dislike him... it's he cries every freakin episode, when in his finale episode and humanity was systematically killed off he broke down so pathetically that the two people who should break down had to comfort him and tell him to man up. We went from the most terrifying being in all of reality, who was shown as sad and depressed before to.... a being who can't go one episode without the bare minimum crying if not having a breakdown. This isn't the same as the last Doctor who you can blame on bad writing or having no social skills. (They literally had Rosa fucking Parks, not some allegory, or metaphor, literal time traveling racist trying to kill Rosa Parks. Then there was a companion going on about being worried his cancer might come back and the Doctor reacted ugh. tldr i could like the last Doctor because she acted like the Doctor.) Moron's will scream "muh racism" because they won't actually listen to any of the complaints.
@miroo4097 he cries because hes not afraid of his emotions anymore. Realizing you killed all of life across all time because of all the places you traveled for fun would easily make the Doctor have a mental breakdown, why is that seen as pathetic and why should he bottle that in? We wouldn't feel the impact of what has happened otherwise. When he's not crying, do you like this Doctor? Because it's not like he's crying all the time, just when something truly sad happens he doesn't suppress it anymore. The 10th Doctor cried a lot too. That can't be your only criticism when there are plenty other sides to this Doctor.
43:20.... Good analogy, but actually you got it in reverse. You're looking BACK in time, not ahead... because it takes that light from that star YEARS to get to you. You're seeing that star as it was in the past. Loved the watch through though! Merry Christmas!!
Anita was the best part of the episode for me, I watch their moment together three times in tears remembering those moments you have to say goobye to those people you care about.
The Return of Doctor Mysterio is always slept on but 'A Christmas Carol' is just so good. Then again I really like 'Last Christmas' but I am biased towards anything to do with dreams.
One of the doors in the Time Hotel is a Hobbit door - so, either Lord of the Rings is canon to the Doctor's universe, or it just links to the Hobbiton set in New Zealand 🤣
20:15 I think it's a shoutout to the fans and how popular the series still is. There really is a ridiculous amount of Doctor Who merch out there. Etsy is popping with police boxes, from handmade clay to homemade 3D-prints to unlicensed knock-offs. There's no reason they'd be popular within the Doctor Who series (that we know of lol), but given how popular they still are with us, I think it's a little wink to the audience.

Moffat never fails to amaze me. The Covid stuff hit deep . I luckily didn’t lose any close family in lockdown but it was a very turbulent time in England nonetheless. This was definitely one of the better Christmas specials. Better than a couple of Capaldis and Smiths. Don’t think it beats any of Tennants specials tho. As well as Smiths ‘ A Christmas Carol ‘ and Capaldis ‘Twice upon on a time ‘ Idc about Whittaker’s seasons. Not even sure if they had Christmas specials
What is don't get ,is the brief case threatens to blow up which means it doesn't fulfill its purpose DR spends 12 months on earth waiting for him to tell himself the code, but never explains how he got the code LASTLY the Christmas star is meant to be a symbol of hope, and yet 6 people died in this episode Why did the star require JOYs body to lunch itself into space The young woman who spent the 12 months with the Dr, had far more screen time than the main guest character, yet she gets minor menti9nn8n the credits? Surely she would make an excellent comapnion
They did explain about the code, it was a bootstrap paradox. Look it up if you aren't sure what it means. It did explode, that's why the star was formed. I assume it needed Joy to do that or guide it. People always die in Doctor Who, that's why the Doctor shouted "just this once, everybody lives" in The Doctor Dances episode.
I really hope they realize that Doctor Who won't be able to survive on short form seasons... You need at least like 12-15 MINIMUM in order to actually cement plot points and develop characters better. Like it's nice to see the budget get bumped up but now it's feeling like Doctor who is just another version of the marvel universe and honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Doctor who gets shuttered again because of these decisions
I think it was a great Christmas episode. But i think they are all great. It's not the best and there was some iffy moments at the end, but overall I thought it was magical. I'm excited about season 2 in hopefully a few months?
Listen, I LOVE Dr Who dearly, but its become increasingly noticable in recent Dr Who episodes that these are women written by men. They literally used the word mansplained incorrectly in this episode. If you're gonna showcase feminism in your story then do it thoughtfully. Not by calling out buzzwords... it just comes across as virtue signalling. I might not have cared much if this was the first time I'd thought this, but I've definitely felt this way before with recent female storylines. It's made some scenes seem somewhat disingenuous to me.

Yes. That's my favourite, but this is a close second.❤❤
Time Hotel spin off anyone?
That would be so much fun
Big Finish already have a set ready
19:30 me too! I cried watching this episode- it amazes me in how such a short time she gripped my heartstrings. Would love to see her again!
They did it all through Jodie's run, it's easy to ignore them now 😂
You know not everyone is a racist, right?
Then there was a companion going on about being worried his cancer might come back and the Doctor reacted ugh. tldr i could like the last Doctor because she acted like the Doctor.)
Moron's will scream "muh racism" because they won't actually listen to any of the complaints.
I loved this special 😭😭😭😭
All I ask from my Doctor Who Christmas Specials is good vibes. This gave me that 💙💙🎄
I see tears! and not just from Ncuti!!
Loved this episode
Anita was the best part of the episode for me, I watch their moment together three times in tears remembering those moments you have to say goobye to those people you care about.
This was beyond beautiful
That was quick the episode only finished 10 minutes ago when this comment was posted
Damn Joy’s story was sad enough to hear and then they showed her mum in the hospital and just..nope…sobbed
How long is Moffat staying on? Love his stories!
It's a Westworld kind of hotel where people go to experience different times it's not like Bill & Ted.
Geez guys you got me teary eyed, nice reaction, hope you had a great Christmas and roll on 2025!
Merry Christmas Rejects
Jesus that was a speedy reaction turnaround 😂
What is the BEST Christmas Special in ALL of Doctor Who???
Christmas Carol is a pretty good one
The Snowmen will always be PEAK
The Return of Doctor Mysterio is always slept on but 'A Christmas Carol' is just so good. Then again I really like 'Last Christmas' but I am biased towards anything to do with dreams.
Christmas Carol gets my vote, but The Husbands of River Song is my comfort episode all year round 💙💙
"Last Christmas" for sure! (Everything is top level though!)
Merry Christmas! Reject Nation!
One of the doors in the Time Hotel is a Hobbit door - so, either Lord of the Rings is canon to the Doctor's universe, or it just links to the Hobbiton set in New Zealand 🤣
5:30 - or, remember the brakes are on, thats the reason it shakes at all. River knew that
I LOVED this episode!🥲❤
20:15 I think it's a shoutout to the fans and how popular the series still is. There really is a ridiculous amount of Doctor Who merch out there. Etsy is popping with police boxes, from handmade clay to homemade 3D-prints to unlicensed knock-offs. There's no reason they'd be popular within the Doctor Who series (that we know of lol), but given how popular they still are with us, I think it's a little wink to the audience.

Wow that was fast!!! It just finished on TV haha. this was a great special!
Fun fact Jonathan Aris, who plays Melnak is the British narrator for "Mayday", AKA "Air Crash Investigation", and he has been for 20 years.
"This hurts i take it back" 😂
Merry Christmas y’all
it was awesome
Its amazing how a lie sustains Christianity.
I just watched it, and it was awesome!
Creo que este especial haria llorar a la lersona mas fria que existe
I could really go for a ham and cheese toastie and a pumpkin latte right about now.
Merry Christmas friends ❤
Yes we have daylight savings 😂 loads of countries do
I neeeeed you guys to get into Derry Girls or Bridgerton so badly, Nicola is incredible in both
I thought that was a lovely episode.
Leave it to Moff to stab us right where it hurts the most, on Christmas.. lol augh. It was good. But why Moff why.
JOOOOYYYY TO TH WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *TRUMPET SOUND THEMEZ*
Brokeback mountain? It’s Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay 1953 Everest.
Villengard sounds too close to the Valeyard.
21:11 I NEED HER BACK NEXT SEASON ASAP
I love the mavity lore
Moffat never fails to amaze me. The Covid stuff hit deep . I luckily didn’t lose any close family in lockdown but it was a very turbulent time in England nonetheless. This was definitely one of the better Christmas specials. Better than a couple of Capaldis and Smiths. Don’t think it beats any of Tennants specials tho. As well as Smiths ‘ A Christmas Carol ‘ and Capaldis ‘Twice upon on a time ‘ Idc about Whittaker’s seasons. Not even sure if they had Christmas specials
Yall should react to Tetris!! And Carry On! Taron is such a delight
26:48
you kept saying you missed. i felt seen GOD i missed Ncuti
Anita the 🐐
Yeah, I'm British, (English) come and educate me! I challenge you!!!
Off topic, 26:15 your arm distracted me for a minutes XD
What is don't get ,is the brief case threatens to blow up which means it doesn't fulfill its purpose
DR spends 12 months on earth waiting for him to tell himself the code, but never explains how he got the code
LASTLY
the Christmas star is meant to be a symbol of hope, and yet 6 people died in this episode
Why did the star require JOYs body to lunch itself into space
The young woman who spent the 12 months with the Dr, had far more screen time than the main guest character, yet she gets minor menti9nn8n the credits?
Surely she would make an excellent comapnion
They did explain about the code, it was a bootstrap paradox. Look it up if you aren't sure what it means.
It did explode, that's why the star was formed. I assume it needed Joy to do that or guide it.
People always die in Doctor Who, that's why the Doctor shouted "just this once, everybody lives" in The Doctor Dances episode.
Wheres the skeleton crew reaction plsss
Moffat-isms
I really hope they realize that Doctor Who won't be able to survive on short form seasons... You need at least like 12-15 MINIMUM in order to actually cement plot points and develop characters better.
Like it's nice to see the budget get bumped up but now it's feeling like Doctor who is just another version of the marvel universe and honestly it wouldn't surprise me if Doctor who gets shuttered again because of these decisions
Not sure how he's using the sonic to sweep when it doesn't work on wood.
Am I the only one who thought that that dude in the Honeymoon Suite looked like Rory?
Poor Amy 😂
Cried, as usual.
Same, same
