  • Understand, this is an improvisation of unfiltered emotion and processing what is happening from my unique perspective in this world.
I had a very different plan when I set out to make this improvisation on a vague Indiana Riverside. I wanted to use my digital tanpura, SOMA ether, harmonicas and the earth's nature sounds to create an album of short, ethereal improvisations.
Having arrived at the location, It occurred to me that I didn't have my SD card or harmonicas. So that took the Zoom H4n off of the table, riding home while already setting foot would have felt like a misstep.
I started noodling on my melodica but it just wasn't hitting the way I have set my intentions with my practice of improvisation and meditation, which I would best describe as lengthy, repetitive, neuro-divergent and open.
I encourage and implore comments and discussion for the purpose of deeper cultural understanding, and have provided some discussion questions.
    1. How did it make you feel about North America and Late-Stage Capitalism?
    2. What are your thoughts about my performance and the words that came to my mind?
    3. Do you feel more connected after watching and listening to any part of your heritage, or any phantom limbs of Pre-Columbian culture?
    4. Does this fit your definition of Cultural Appropriation?
    5. Do you have any feedback or ideas that could be implemented in these kinds of restorative and constructive improvisational practices? Is it safe? Is it politically correct?
