I use the v13 for my easy runs and some long runs. Its the shoe I wear for 3 days a week out of the 5 days I train. the most comfortable shoe ive ever had but I would never wear it for a race or even a workout.
13 was too soft for me personally but still got some use for shorter recovery runs
I was shocked with the 1080v13 in the fact I didn't hate it and it actually fit true to size. Hated the 8/9 and 10. All other new balance shoe sizes are ALL over the place. The 13 for £99, top notch.
Yeah great shoe
I went half a size up and they were still tight
Yes their sizing is all over the place
Where did you find the 13 for 99£?
@@MarcAplin got it from Schuh in June sadly they’ve got very limited sizes left.
Recently got the more v5, great step on comfort and was to replace an outgoing yet great nimbus 25, the foam was sinking and squishy and after one 12k easy pace my knees were sore and also ankles, to soft is not always good for the joints. Hopefully the softness is controlled more in the 1080v14
Thanks Chris for a good review as usual. Very good point about the price between 100-120 quid for the previous model. That's actually the real value of that shoe. In the EU it is still difficult to find it below 180 € which is laughable for that shoe. That's too much even for Endorphine Speed. I bought Adidas Adizero Pro 3 for that price (when it was on discount). The shoe prices these days....I'm curious if most people are buying the shoes when on discount like me or just throwing the money on whatever new appears on the market.
Yeah it’s a good point
Will be picking this one up. Always wished the v13 was a touch firmer.
I was looking for a cushioned daily trainer with a bit versatility. Tested it in store against a Glycerin Max. I bought the V14, really like it.
I like ur rotation idea with the SC Trainer v3 over the SC Elite for most 😊 people (especially in the US because it's cheaper).
Good review as usual shot as it is 👍
For me NB with its overly soft and mushy foams could not exist in running space and I'd not even notice - not my cup of tea
Would still go for Rebel v4 over this
I’m 195lbs so I would wear down the cushion in the rebel v4 too quickly. Although i really love the fuelcell in the SC trainer v1.
Well done, Fordy. Like. Have a great day.
Thank you
thank you
Hey, Chris! I watch a lot of your videos but still don’t remember your true to size is, and you say it’s a size 10, but don’t say if that’s smaller or larger than your normal size. That would help for future reviews! Thanks mate
Looks like the Balos under another name.
@@Stashawk It has FuelCell too?
Time to buy v13 50% off!
I was a huge fan of 1080 prior to v13. I logged 90km a week in them of easy, long, and tempo runs. It was only for intervals that I turned to another shoe. I must have gone through dozens of pairs. Sadly I became very ill 3 years ago, so missed out on versions in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 so far. I can now start to run again, so tried the v14. What was a focused and responsive shoe has now turned into a pillowy soft competitor to the Brooks Glycerin, or other maxi shoes like Hoka's wallowy offerings. I tried the 1080 v14, bought direct from NB, and wanted a refund as soon as I started running. 10km later and NB wouldn't refund me, despite my protestations that their website description hadn't changed, and the fact they're calling it the 1080 and not a new name. I had to E-Bay them in the end, and got £67. I was very disappointed, not just to waste £160, but to lose what was the best running shoe on the market. I'm now comparing the Hoka Mach 6 and the latest 880, both of which come in the wide fitting I need and are responsive. I must say though, neither are as good as the 1080 v10, v11 etc. RIP.
2:09 so its not good for forefoot strikers if they increased stiffness there, right? cause i land there as well, not only toe-off
You mentioned about the upper and how they've tried to increase breathability I think it's about time shoe companies in certain lines say their big sellers offer a summer and winter version of the shoe so the summer ones are nice and breathable????
Anyway if I was a marketing person I'd give it a crack .
Thanks Chris - think I'll buy a new pair of the v13 when they go on sale! Have you tried the More v5 yet?
Colourway would go nice with a beige suit 😂😂🎉
Curious...do your feet hurt running in neutral shoes with your stability needs?
no sir my pronation is only noticable when tired
so you wouldn't use this for long run? What would you recommend for long shoe (slow pace) for example 20-30k?
Yes
Recs I'm seeing:
Saucony Hurricane 24
Brooks Ghost Max 2 (though Glycerin Max looks nicer)
Puma MagMax
Mount to Coast R1R
Novablast
How does something like the 1080 compare to a max cushion shoe like the More v5 or the Brooks Glycerin Max? I'm a heavier runner and need something ourely for recovery runs and slower, long runs.
So is this like a mix of the Balos and 1080v13?
I just got the v13 so I’m kinda mad they made a new Verision.
Nah it’s 13 just new upper
@@FordyRunsReally? They're claiming a firmer formulation of FFX midsole. Hmm.
What color is that?
Seems like I could save bucks by buying the v13 when it goes on sale.
yep
@@FordyRuns I'm currently using the More v.4 as my long run/recovery day shoe. I had the 1080 v.8/9 and liked them. You think the 1080 v.13 could fill that need once my More v.4 are shot?
Hey Fordy, where are you finding the 13 for £100? :)
yea where is that
Doesn't seem that long ago the v13 had come out 🤔 Probably not one for me though, I've never really got on with NB trainers 😏
you want to get to 22million subs , lets do it then !! lol
Might need some help 🤣🤣🤣
I love the v12 and still have two pairs ready to wear. The v13 i found waaaaay to soft, not sure if NB are trying to be like Hoka. Ive tried on the v14 and that too seems too soft for me 😭😭😭
It is soft
@@FordyRuns I think I have already purchased the last remaining V12 on the internet. Any recommendations for a V12 replacement.?? Just found your channel and subbed.
The shoe industry needs to move away from this "old shoe" look. I wanted to buy a pair of NB Rebel V4s a couple of weeks ago, but they only one they had in stock was the one with the off-white midsole. When I was a kid, that was the colour I would associate with something that has been laying outside in the sun for way too long and was pretty much ready for the bin. That would always be in the back of my mind. Give me a nice bright, colourful and fresh looking shoe any day!
Hey fordy what about more v5? I'm waiting your review
Had to drop a few embargoed shoes this week mate so will film this weekend and put out next week
This or the BALOS?
Balos is terrible
@@FordyRuns 🫶🏻
Why have the 1080 become obscenely priced?
I wanted to buy the v13 but I just don’t see it as a £160+ shoe. Even 1 year after its release it’s still £160+ and has completely evaded any sales. I just don’t get it.
The new More v5 is £140 and has way more foam. So why is the 1080 ripping us off? Frustrating. 😢
They do look good. Not £165 good, but good.
Yep that’s my view in the vid the price is a little steep
Seems expensive compared to the v4 rebel which is a better shoe and cheaper!
Great shoe the rebel
which do u recommend between v13 and v14?
13
@@FordyRuns thanks. what about 12? 12 is cheaper than 13 as much as 45bucks.
v13 is much more confortable than v14s.
Pretty naff colour way if you ask me
I’m a supinator. Put v13 on and nearly fell over on the outside of my feet 😂. Straight back to the shop they went unfortunately. These are not shoes for those who under pronate
Yep it’s SOFT
@@FordyRuns it is. Just wish it didn’t make me go more on the outside of my feet!
Another week. Yet another New Balance shoe where the sizing is all over the place and still that horrid fresh foam. Meh
I’m nailed on a 10 in the shoe
