Great job, Jerry. My father was one of those US Marines in the Pacific Island campaign during WWII, and Eddie Albert has, consequently, held a special place in my heart. He was a gifted actor and a remarkable human being.

Having served in the Marine Corps , and having three tours in Vietnam, I will always remember Eddie as a war hero and then an actor, for his actions at Tarawa he should have gotten the Medal of Honor, he was truly a hero.

I was lucky enough to meet Eddie in 1999 when he was 93. I fell in love with Green Acres when I was 14 years old in 1998. In 1999 I asked my mom if we could go to L.A. to try and find Eddie Albert's house. She knew how much I loved Green Acres and she had always wanted to go to L.A. anyway, so we went. On our second day there, we were able to find his house by using a Hollywood Star map. (a map that shows where the stars live) When we found it, we stopped out in front to take pictures. He happened to be sitting at his dining room table and saw us out the window. We saw him get up and head towards the front door. He came out on the front porch and waved for us to come up, so we did. I told him how much I loved Mr. Douglas and Green Acres and had my picture made with him. I was in shock...I couldn't believe it was happening. He was so nice to do that for us. I'll remember that day for the rest of my life. :)

I'm so pleased that Green Acres was aired over here in the UK. When I was a little girl, I loved this series. This documentary has been a joy to watch, bringing back fond memories. What an amazing man Mr Albert was and his amazing achievements on and off the screen. So sad about Edward Jr after being such a dedicated son. Rest peacefully, all of you. @@jamesfrancis1950 : First, learn how to construct a proper, coherent sentence, moron! Second, Operation Barbarossa, (the invasion of the USSR), on June 22, 1941 by
National Socialist Germany occurred. Guess what else occurred in 1941? The U.S. entry into WW2 in Dec. That's a whole lot less than 3 years after Barbarossa. You also
say that "Russians" beat Germany. (Technically, it was the USSR, not just the "Russians".) Granted, I believe that to be true. Fully 80%+ of the German armed forces was
lost on the Eastern Front. However, you must keep in mind that the USSR had nearly 3 times the population of Germany, was receiving vast quantities of logistics from
      mercilessly by American and
      bombers and
pointless assertions go, yes it is true that there were desertions by GI's, but there were many desertions by soldiers in every army of
the war. What about the millions of desertions by Soviet soldiers? Then there's Private Slovik. He was a deserter and a coward in the face of the enemy. He deserved to be
executed. That being said, the military did not really want to execute him. No American soldier had been executed since the Civil War. But, Slovik kept pushing the issue, daring the military to execute him. Time and time again the Army gave him the opportunity to stop his nonsense and rejoin his unit, but he refused. So, they gave him his wish. You're talking about executing one American soldier for the entire war as being significant? Jesus, how old are you?

We often call the people researched Stars, but they are often no different to most of the people I know, suffering failures successes and losses and often just continuing through the pain of sadness at loss and failure and the encouragement of friends and family. Only a few arrive and are well rewarded, but then again we all see success in different ways. Thank you again Jerry Skinner.

For the past 20 years, i have assisted my dad on anzac marches. In recent years the turnout has been much greater. It is heartwarming to see that community support. Sadly there are new immigrants who completely reject the sacrifices made by these veterans. Freedom comes with a cost. I owe these veterans a debt that can never be paid.

Green Acres had to be the silliest concept for a TV show, even a sitcom. But, oh, what a welcome escape from the gruesome nightly news about the war in Nam. I never missed it, and it was better than any antidepressant that might have been prescribed. This well-bred, sane attorney, living in a village of idiots. It was magic for its time! Thanks for this stroll down memory lane.

Jerry such a wonderful tribute to Eddie Arnold. I remember reading about him at Tarawa.
My dad the last of the brothers is a Korean War Vet USN and was stationed in the USS TARAWA.
His brothers were in WW2. ONE was in the Army CORPS of Engineers and the first group to go into Buchenwald at the end of the War.
My middle uncle was in the 394th Bombing Group out of England. He was in the Mighty 8th Army Air Force And served as a tail gunner on a B-17.
Jerry I'm a Yankee living below the Mason Dixon Line in WV. I like your Mississippi drawl.
Just discovered your page love the classic actors of yesterday. Infact when I was a little girl growing up in NY always loved the nostalgia movies even to this day. And will be 65 in Dec. Thanks for your postings.
Eddie was indeed a war hero and a precious man.
GO NAVY and SEMPER FI for all the sailors and Marines that gave their ultimate sacrifice their lives for the cost of freedom.
Always loved The Longest Day, IN Harm's Way. And Green Acres was so funny
