    The Town, Big Red, The Track, The Storm, The Mud & Punctures....... The Whole Adventure !
    We start this trip just north of Birdsville. A short drive down from Bedourie to a expected 3 day stay in Birdsville....... It was not to be. There was a storm on it's way & if we stayed there was a chance of us getting stuck in town for longer than intended. Not a bad thing but we decided to move on asap.
    So after an afternoon & sunset at Big Red we retired for the night & in the morning we moved on down the Birdsville Track to beat the coming storm.
    We managed to see a few of the sights on the way to Mungerannie. Then things turned sour......
    After we left Mungerannie we managed to get 2 punctures in the first 30 kms & then the storm came early......... The track turned to a skating rink.... We had no choice but to keep moving on these sections. Stopping could mean we don't get the van moving again. The track was open when we left Mungerannie...I doubt it was by the time we reached Marree
    We finally arrived in Marree after dark & were glad to see the bitumen.
    What a Day....... What an Adventure !
    Cheers

    Having visited Australia several times and read ‘The Mailman of Birdsville ‘ at least twice, I found your presentation very interesting. Glad you got into Marree without further mishap!

      We have traveled this road many times but these were the worst conditions we’ve encountered
      Tom Kruse did it a little tougher than us👍😃

    Another great, well put together video Paul. You were lucky with that rain, and know first hand what it is like having been caught out for 3 days once.
    Take care

      Yeah. It was hit & miss there for a while. The rain came a day earlier than expected.
      We had no choice but to keep moving.
      Glad we took the advice of the Birdsville locals

    Marree would have been a very welcome sight, lucky you left when you did !!!. Thanks for taking the time to divert and show the Page Family memorial, what a sad story !!. Thanks for sharing that, much appreciated, take car and stay safe, Cheers.

      Hi Kev
      Good to hear from you 😃
      Yeah we were really happy to get to Marree. Was a huge day!
      Was glad to see the Page Memorial. Have passed that way many times but the turnoff is not marked. I only found it because of the new mapping I am using now.
      We’re on our way home now for Christmas been away nearly 5 months 🙄
      Thanks for your comments

      @@pmk3australia Ah hah, was wondering how you got to it. I think that's the first time I've seen anyone go there. I have been through there once, but as you say, definitely no signs. I believe?? the landowners discourage the visits. By the way, they were lovely evening shots on Big Red, very picturesque. Thanks again, stay safe and enjoy Christmas, Cheers.

      Yeah. It can get really busy
      We visit Birdsville regularly
      Always head out to Big Red.
      First visit was back in 2000
      A lot more popular these days
      You were lucky to get to see it alone👍😀
      We usually visit outside of the big events in town

    Thanks for the video. Great work with the camera. Can I ask if you get much duct in the Jayco? Do you have positive ventilation or have you taken any steps to minimise dust ingress?

    • @pmk3australia
      @pmk3australia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael
      Thanks for your comments
      I have sealed the van inside & out. All cable & pipes & around the floor/ walls
      Concentrating on the wheel arches
      When we’re off-road we cover the door vent & lower fridge vent as well as the range hood vent
      No other dust prevention systems.
      Been travelling like that for 6 years in this van & get no dust inside at all
      Cheers

    Ripper video guy's, I really need to get back out there. When towing your van what sort of speed are you doing on roads like the Eyre Development Road, and Birdsville Track.

      Hi Matt
      In the wet We were sitting on around 60 to 70kmh. In this video. Momentum was the idea once the rain hit. If we stopped I was worried we couldn’t get moving again
      We always drive to conditions so speed varies

    What type of tyre pressure monitor did you use?

    • @pmk3australia
      @pmk3australia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'Day Brian
      Thanks for your question.
      I use SAFE T TYRE from Safety Dave.
      We have 8 transmitters & monitor both the car & Van.
      Wouldn't travel without at least the van monitored. Any time the alarm has gone off I hadn't noticed a problem at the time. Gives you plenty of time to pull over while theres still some air in the tyre. Unless of course you have a blowout. But being able to keep an eye on temps as well you can pick up any problems early.
      PS never had a blow out.......
      Cheers

    NT NSW? Don't you mean via NT SA?

    • @pmk3australia
      @pmk3australia  ปีที่แล้ว

      They were options.
      From Birdsville QLD. (Not NT)
      You can go down through NSW
      Or
      Across through NT
      Or
      Down through SA
      Hope that clears it up for you 😃

    I thought flying drones in NP was illegal?

    • @pmk3australia
      @pmk3australia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Incorrect. It differs in each state.
      Do some research.
      As long as you abide with the CASA regulations usually you are fine
      Having said that there are some National Parks that specifically say no drones
      All of the drone footage in this video is legal
      Big Red is not in the NP
      I only fly where I'm allowed
      A good drone will advise you where you can & can't fly
      Hope this clears it up for you

    Washing the van what's the point of it bro.

    • @pmk3australia
      @pmk3australia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha. Yeah. Wasn’t really a wash. Just getting some of the mud off. Living out of the van day in day out becomes a pain when every time you touch it you get filthy
      We’re home now & still haven’t washed it.
      Actually have never properly washed it in the 6 years we’ve had it
      Cheers
