    Great Interview, Michael is an inspiration to all out there. Chester fan here, growing up watched him played for Chester City - Great player and have even still got a shirt in the loft with Branch (8) on the back!!

    Great interview Baz. Michael was superb in talking about his life and being very open and honest. He deserves a lot of credit for making himself feel better about himself and all the best. BTW I was at Stamford Bridge for the game where he scored.

    Game I always remember Michael in was at home to Sheff Wed. Ran their defence ragged. Won a penalty and assisted Graham Stuart in a 2-0 win.

    I wonder if Michael remembers playing for the EFC academy in the Isle of Man v our u16s team. I think it was 1994. Pretty sure it ended 10-0 to Everton and Branch got 5. Branch was rapid. Good to see he is sorting his life out. Will join for a jog next time I am over.

    This why I have always say do put to much presure on players to be the big sheedy watson rooney southhall ferdinand, lahm, linker, Klinsmann vidic maldini pirlo, torres etc. Just let them develope and support them. I love this interview it opens your eyes about how much presurse players. This is magnified by the endless media scritiny, fans and put downs of there gsne or lifestyle. Social media is the worst thing these days for ruining players careers or perception of themselves. Thanks this a great interview baz. im glad micharl is able use his experice to do some excellent work wuth parent and the children in the academy talk about how not to presurise yoing players. Its sad his lifesyle and thoughts in his head ended his career but i you dont think abou4 how long they've had the presure and that it affects them. Michael should oroud if himself for opening up like this.

      @@MoreThanAGame_ absolutely baz I've always said fans arr the worst people for not getting this point players are people with feelings as well they not robots.

      @@Toffeeabi81 I think it's the emotion of the game Abigail, we all probably just need to do a bit better but it will take time. Interviews like this really help though.

    Remember seeing Michael playing when he was around 14. Absolutely took my breath away how fast he was and such a natural finisher. He broke all records in youth football that belonged to Michael Owen.

    • @MoreThanAGame_
      @MoreThanAGame_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes he was talked about so much at that age. Record breaker and we all thought he was going to tear it up at Everton, sadly the low self esteem etc put paid to that :( Good to see him turning his life around though :)

    More than a Game is incredibly perfect for this interview, as it fascinating and privileged look into the pressures outside the game, ie the pressures we as fab base put on a Maupay or a Keane. Brilliant and insightful interview of ex Premier League player who's still on the pitch in his mind 24-7. His anxiety led to drink, dealing drugs, and now uses his experiences to come full circle and help the less fortunate.

    Excellent hour an' a quarter. Baz is a natural at this thing. Makes the conversation easy so makes the interviewee open up more. Watch Toffee TV regularly but that's only to laugh at Everton. This is serious.

    Championship Manager 96/97 legend. Followed his career with interest after he left Everton and was surprised when he stopped early. All makes sense now. He seems a decent lad with confidence issues and is only realising now that just to break into the first team was a success, not a failure. Can't imagine the pressure on footballers, not just for the 40k in the stadium but the billions watching around the world.

    • @MoreThanAGame_
