I hadn't seen one of these era mods before. I have to admit, now that I see it i really think that WW1 would be a great setting. This was actually pretty exciting with the high rate of fire and large explosions etc.
Indeed, WWI is probably the last war that Total War system could represent very well, because it still had something from the old days of line infantry. While they definitely didn't work as line infantry as seen in the video, it was close. And the good graphics of Total War make the carnage such delicious eye candy.

The artillery carnage is just horrendously fun to watch. And if I were the British commander no hell way I am going to send a full infantry charge up that aptly-named "Massacre Hill" without having better artillery support! The British artillery was atrocious!
You were, like, outnumbered approximately 4 to one. But your defenses are so more better! A hill, reinforced with barricades with men behind it, cannons with deadly shells... Wish I had this game
Today world total war would be awesome and yes I'm there's other games but total war is different with the diplomatic stuff and building your country .
Counter? With what reinforce his left flank with troops from his right? Easy enough keep picking them off with artillery while flanking two small units and Calvary behind them. Once they flank his reinforcements on the right send the same to dispatch artillery and then you'll have the flank ( BTW March wide and thin waves to cancel artillery effectiveness)

There was no single Battle of the Marne, and according to officer accounts (Infantry Attacks, Rommel) German troops even in 1914 quickly formed skirmish lines when under fire and according to John Mosier's "Myth of the Great War" the sieges of Antwerp and the forts at Liege and Namur were modeled after lessons from the American siege of Petersburg, that the infantry were there to protect heavy artillery from garrison troops. This video I assume from the last minute is the inverse of the actual war, when superior German firepower (typical German divisional commander had three times as much firepower in artillery as a French corps commander on paper in 1914, superior German industry no doubt exacerbated the French inferiority as the war dragged on) led to literal decimation of the French and English professional armies. Napoleonic/Medieval warfare my ass.
I found it sad that about 1/4 to half of the british never made it to the chokepoint. I know you felt the need to do so, but could you not have had your dragoons chase down the shattered regiments into the dirt. But I understand that its the purpose of the cavalry
Why were you focusing the camera angles on the Germans reloading and then looking somewhere else during the vollies? Great video, but that was annoying.

UK should have attacked in waves of three smaller units in staggered formation (1st to left then to the right) focussing majority of attack to German left while using artillery to " punch a hole" through first line once two or three waves breach the 1st line Calvary should breach the same spot to harass second line at the middle and artillery should change targeted area to the German right and repeat... reinforce where needed and the day is won for the UK

The mod quite imperfect. Everything is too expensive and there is no time to build own country. Time goes very fast. I miss some important nations which were involved in WWI. There are no submarines, or planes, or at least barbed wire barriers on battlefields. And most importantly, the game always crashes in early summer 1916, no matter what country I play for.
