@21:15 Fun fact, the chances of getting one right is: 1/3 for the first guess then 1/2 for the second guess then 100% for the last guess. It's technically 1/6 that you're right not 1/9. once you've selected one option it's removed from the pool so you only have two options for your second guess (assuming you guessed the first one right).

That's technically both true and false, it's true if he was told her was correct or false on the first guess but there are a possible 9 combinations, all independent of each other each one with different results. Your solution is based on the fact he would be told if he is right or wrong in the first guess then he gets to guess the second pokemon.
@@A.S._fn there are not 9 possible options though. There are 6. If the multiplication strategy with elimination after selecting one doesn’t make sense to you then think of it this way:
Pokemon 1/Pokémon 2/Pokemon 3
Ability (A)
Body (B)
Moves (M)
You can’t apply more than one of A, B, or M to the same pokemon. You can’t apply A, B, or M multiple times.
So you can do:
A/B/M where Pokémon 1 gets ability, Pokémon 2 gets body, and pokemon 3 gets moves.
Example, You CANT do either of the following:
1. A/A/A where pokemon 1, 2, & 3 get ability.
2. ABM/-/- where pokemon 1 gets ability, body, and moves but pokemon 2 & 3 get nothing.
Therefore your options are:
ABM
AMB
BAM
MAB
BMA
MBA
That’s 6 total options. Therefore when selected at random, he has a 1/6 option.
@@A.S._fn Instead of thinking about individual picks, try thinking about it in terms of picking the correct order of all 3 items. How many different orders can 3 items have? 6. SO it's a 1 in 6 chance to pick the right order.
You're right that it's 1/6, but for the record, having 3 options each time would be 1/27, not 1/9

This is not how fractions and random guesses work. There is 1/6 but each chance has a 1/6 chance. They aren’t additive. It’s like the lottery buying one ticket every week does not increase your chances to win.
Your chance actually does increase as you do more attempts. But not in the way you are thinking
Try to flip a coin 100 times and get head or tail 100 times in a row, you'll see it's really hard to do that. Individually it's still 50/50. But if you calculate the whole thing, if you get one result many times in a rows, the chance of you getting the other "will increase".
Let's say you got tail which is 1/2
The chance of you getting tail 2 times in a row will be (tail chance * tail chance) = 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4. While the chance of getting head is opposite of it 3/4.
And the more tail you get in a row the harder it is to get another tail
@@justsomeguywhoneverdies9210 that's the gambler's fallacy. The average over the group will tend towards the odds, but the individual odds never change. It doesn't matter if you flip tails 1000 times in a row, the next flip is _still_ 50/50.

and I hope you understand what I tried to say. If you say "there is 50% chance I can get 1000 tails *in a row* and 50% chance of getting just one head from 1000 flip", then I don't know what to say anymore
@@justsomeguywhoneverdies9210 kinda it’s still a 50/50 chance the variation in situations like this can be due by an uneven coin. Or in dice’s case unbalanced dice. You could very well flip a balanced coin 8 times and get heads each time but the next flip it’s not anything other than a 50/50.
Now in this case if you had more time you could figure out the human pattern and find out what the person is most likely going to pick. But say the options were randomly generated everytime would be a 1/6.
