I left Chicago. Horrible place. It's worse now than ever before. It's not safe AT ALL. It's a miserable place. I'm glad I left. I have never been happier. And I was born there and lived there all of my life. I'm glad I left.
You guys kill me try to brag about how affordable it is to live there. But talk about how high the taxes are. Pretty much a counter intuitive oxymoron.
Hey Vaish! Crime in Chicago has gotten higher, but if you're looking at the US as a whole you'll find that it has risen dramatically across the board. I would check out 'Top 100 dangerous Cities in Us' on google to see Chicago's current rankings if you're interested.
I was born in Paris. Lived in NYC, and travelled pretty much all around the world. I have been living in Chicago for 4 years now, and I am about to leave it as soon as I can. Downtown is not safe, the CTA at night is dangerous, rent went higher and Chicago is definitely behind in a lot of ways compared to other big cities. It is not a world class city, unless you come from Michigan or Wisconsin. It’s a dump, do not move there.

Taxes are pricey - yes. I'm fine with it when you consider our infrastructure, great schools (area dependent) and erm corruption
