Whenever I try and make dauphinoise potatoes I get the same thing. Not enough liquid I reckon, but the wife thinks parboiling for 5 mins is essential. None of these cooks on youtube ever say that though.
What is the point? You show us how to prepare the dish, You show us the dish going into the oven. But, you don't show the finished product. Absolute nonsense (Afterthought) Did you burn it?

How do u make the sauce
Mine where still hard! 1 hour at 180 I'd say 1 hour 20 or an hour at 200.

Preheat the oven to 350°F /180°C.
Do 30 minutes with foil to steam them then take of foil and they should be cooked after
another 30 minutes
You can make these in a slower oven too, gas mark 3 or 4 for 2-3 hours and then grill to crisp the top
