“I Need You” ,in my opinion, is one of Skynard’s best and most underrated songs.. When I hear “That Smell” all I can think about is in Forrest Gump when Jenny was in that hotel room with her face all sunk in and her nearly falling off the ledge of the balcony.

lol... Dude, the train isn't literal. It's a metaphor for riding the train of unrequited love, loss and lonesome sadness that we men deal with that's not the same as how women cope with loss.

Lord have mercy, I'm from the south... Tennessee, and let's put it this way, if someone says they don't like Skynyrd.. it's blasphemy! I'm 54, I'm grew up with that band.. and gosh when that plane crash happened it was unreal sadness 😭. The Tribute Tour they did in the 80s with his brother and remaining members, was the most awesome concert. You had bikers, older people, my age, kids I mean all color of people and honestly so many times there wasn't a dry eye in the house!! Especially when they put his hat on a mic stand and played Freebird with home videos of the band playing on big screen behind it. SOBBING crying!!!

    • @Tuesdays_Gone
      @Tuesdays_Gone 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I was at the Tribute concert in Atlanta, 1987. It was very emotional, and Johnny Van Zant just put his brother, Ronnie’s hat on the microphone and wouldn’t even sing the lyrics to Free Bird.
Then when Allen Collins’ father brought him on stage in the wheelchair and he spoke to us, everybody was crying. It was very, very emotional.

    Here's a boring little history...
    Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern Rock.
With a mixture of Blues and a dash of Southern Rebellion.
Back in 1970, Neil Young released " Southern Man". Song about southern racism and the history of slavery.
Now, Lynyrd Skynyrd didn't appreciate Neil's song...saying that they're from the south and didn't like that Neil painted the southern man with a broad brush! They said we're southern men and a whole lot of us aren't that way! Then in return, they released "Sweet Home Alabama"...
And they mention Neil Young by name in the song!
Gotta first listen to"Southern Man", the"Home Sweet Alabama"!
    Sorry for the long info...
    Love you all!❤

On October 20, 1977 during a flight from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s tour plane crashed in a heavily wooded area of southeastern Mississippi during a failed emergency landing attempt, killing band-members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines as well as the band’s assistant road manager and the plane’s pilot and co-pilot. Twenty others survived the crash. There is a documentary about this tragedy, the band couldn't play for a long time and really struggled on whether they should or not with the loss of the others.

Lynyerd Skynyrd is the sound track of my youth. I got many a sunburn at their concerts. They are legend and missed. 70s the best decade of music.

Good ol' '70's Southern Rock. 'Freebird' and 'Sweet Home Alabama' are the biggest hits. But, I really love 'Simple Man' and 'Gimme Three Steps'

Check out the band 38 Special. "Caught Up In You" and "Hold On Loosely" are good songs. The lead singer of these 2 bands are brothers. Donnie Van Zant of 38 Special. Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd, died in a plane crash with other members of the band on October 20, 1977 (R.I.P.). Johnny Van Zant is the current singer of Lynryrd Skynyrd.

My Dad always said "Tuesday" is his girlfriends name. Like "Wednesday from Addams Family" IDK that's how My Dad explained it to Me. I also had a friend named ART, named after Artimus Pyle, the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd, his Dad was the backup drummer for the band & a Roadie. Nice Guy @Half And Jai
