corrosion creep!! Fixing Molex connectors for Oxygen cells on a CCR (Rebreather)

  • Repairing an CCR (Rebreather). Due to humidity (corrosion creep) the molex connectors are corroded and some wires are ripped off. From my perspective and experience this is only a short fix, the problems are coming back very soon. What causes this problem? Saltwater humidity, saliva residue, caustic material all can contribute to premature corrosion of the wires that connect to the rebreather’s oxygen sensors. Over time, this corrosion can ‘creep’ up the length of the cable. the result is that the complete Cable needs to be replaced.

    If you put some hot glue inside the heat shrink it will seal better and watertight. It will melt during shrinking.
