What a great little look at this lesser-known part of Japan. Otherworldly and completely unexpected for people thinking of Tokyo, Kyoto and the more stereotypical images. I hope to go next year. The part of this video that made me smile was around 2:50...somewhere around there where you were talking about how indifferent you were about booking the kayaking-mangrove experience and then when you were smack in the middle of the activity were thrilled and grateful that you gave it a try. I've been like that with soooooo many things too. I always advise people to give everything a try, that's if you're able-bodied, financially solvent and you have the luxury of time. So much joy in life is in the new, the wonderful surprises not the safe and comfortable. What a lovely video, thank you so much.

@@johnnytries YES!! I found this video again. I need to say 'THANK YOU!!' because I kept saving my money during the 'hot years' of the pandemic, doing loads of overtime and was disciplined in my spending. Thus, I managed to combine Ishigaki (near Iriomote) with a trip to Tokyo. This video was one of the main inspirations, especially the kayaking montage. I'm not exaggerating. I went on a kayaking adventure which looked almost identical to the one you had. I had so much fun and really need to say thank you so much for this video. Just think: you made a random stranger in England go all the way to the Yaeyama Islands and get into a kayak. Such is the power of Johnny. Keep up the great work on your channel. 💯💯💯
