Whatever you do to relieve stress might be a life saver this semester. Just remember that everything gets better when the snow disappears!
Let's hope she pulls through
Hi Del, hope you feel better and remember not to take life too seriously. Take time to cut loose and enjoy yourself once in a while.
Thank you!
Your new videos always appear right when I get home from work and, living alone, it’s nice to hear how your day is going!😊
I’m glad you like my videos, thank you so much!
It's natural to be nervous. But just remember that every day and step you take is closer to your dream job and life. You're doing great so far and I applaud your determination to better yourself. Sorry about the ongoing health issues though. Praying you get well soon!
Thank you so much! That means a lot!
If a class is setup in a way where people breakdown, its not a conducive place for learning. Glad your pals are working with you. I hope you feel better soon!
Yeah the teacher mentioning "crying" is odd. It's coding, you gotta be calm, methodical and logical, why would there being crying breakdowns? Tears from banging your head on the table in frustration maybe? I felt like doing that a few times when learning about callback functions and async concepts.
She’s hawt
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think that is normal. I could understand maybe from frustration of trying to figure something out, but I feel like that should not be happening in team meetings with the instructor lol. You do need to be calm while coding and breaking down crying is just going to make things so much worse. I can’t picture any breakdowns happening in any of our meetings, but if the instructor somehow manages to make me break down I’ll let you know 😅😂
Good luck with this semester, hopefully the projects go well!
Hey Del, welcome back. I hope that everything is going well. Keep ya head up and stay strong, sorry that you're going through your situation with your medication. Love the Adidas hat.
Thank you so much!
Thank you very much Del. I am very thankful that my newborn daughter arrived yesterday morning. She have both parents in her life. Keep up the good work and sorry to hear about your situation.
Congratulations I'm so happy for you! And thank you!
The honesty of your school is stupendous! 😀
Lol right? 😂
Thanks for filling us in Del about your classes. Keep up the dedication and hard work. You will do well. By the way, you sound so Canadian when you say "about." It's so cute!
Thank you!
i've been developing for 35 years without a degree. best advice i can give on the degree/education front is this: get the degree but don't depend on the degree to be employable - depend on what you learn. while you're getting the degree, learn as much as you can. your education and ability to learn on the fly will carry you through your career. learn something new every day
Wait, you changed the intonation of your voice since the last videos, the pitch doesn't fall off at the end of the sentence. Damn, sounds much better. Getting better, good job!
Thank you! It wasn't intentional but I think I'm just starting to become more natural like on camera.
Good luck! Sounds like this semester should be better!
I really hope it will be! Thank you!
Started for me too! Pre-Calculus is already beating me up, WVU aint no joke with there classes. I hope you do well this semester.
Thank you! Good luck to you as well!
I hope your meds improve your health problems del, chin up be strong, block out unnecessary noise you got this! Good luck to you and stay safe del!
Song of the day
Tiger Army - Pain
Thank you so much! And I will check out that song!
Anytime! And ok :D@diaryofdelilah
Hey, Del. Just wanted to say I really enjoy watching your videos! It reminds me of being in college myself for software engineering, but from a different perspective. I was in college over 10 years ago now (oof I sound ancient) and I did a lot of it online, so I didn't have many study groups or meet ups. Mainly group texts or Skype. Discord and stuff didn't exist yet 😅. I had to study C++ and Java, not Javascript or C#. But it's cool how things change yet kind of stay the same. In the end, I didn't really use my degree. I work more in IT now than development and I really enjoy it. But I sometimes get the itch to jump back into programming for fun. I'm an introvert myself and I remember loving having music on and just coding. With some snacks. Anyway, super long winded comment, but hope you enjoy reading it. As long as you keep posting, I'll keep watching. Good luck this semester. I'm rooting for you! 🙂↕️🙏🏼
Get well soon, Del. Have a really good semester, and you / y'all can do it! 👩🏻💻👏😎
Thank you so much!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon. Good luck with the project. I look forward to hearing more about it.
Thank you!
keep on trucking Del 💯
Thank you! That's the plan!
Great vid Del! Hopefully you find the right meds without those side effects. Rooting for ya.
That means a lot, thank you!
Great video! You’re so genuine and I’m really enjoying your channel.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear it!
Do you work on any software projects for fun? If not, I highly recommend it. You'll gain a lot of invaluable experience in the process. If you really want to commit yourself to projects, you can try avoiding using libraries. It will take you longer to finish the projects, yes, but again, you'll gain so much experience. Libraries are great, but what's also great is being a knowledgeable enough programmer to write those libraries from scratch.
Since my day job is in computing, I don't do much coding for fun on the side. But one thing I've enjoyed over recent years is an event called Advent of Code where you solve two related programming puzzles per day up until Christmas. The 2024 event just wrapped up. You can go back at any time to old years and try your hand at the problems.
I'm a full time software engineer. I really enjoy the work and all its done for my life, I hope you will too!
That’s awesome! Thank you!
Good luck this semester Del! Hopefully your health issues behave themselves so you can thrive this year. 😊
Thank you so much, that means a lot!
Del , you made the right choice in course of study . Computer and Tech jobs travel far ; that's to say that you won't need to stay in Wisconsin . Also , you speak of dating and few if any 'any-ones' to connect with in terms of goal - oriented dating . There are a multitude of males in West Coast Tech who would trip and make fools to have a chance with you . I just stumbled into watching one of your videos . A Great Gal ! from my perspective .
I'll say start doing some Leetcode here and there now. Data structures and algorithms are definitely something to prepare for as most interviews will include them.
Hi Del, I hope you are doing ok and getting better. I want to tell you that you made a right choice working as a software developer in the future. This is one of the few professions that have prosperity for future career developement and good salaries. Actually it is not so different from Europe, me especially got graduated as a Marketing and Management degree and can tell you it is very hard a good work position to really gain the full potential of yourself and the salaries are low and is very hard. I really regret making that choice and didn't choose something similar like yours or some engineering professions. Go straight forward with it, be brave and start "kicking a##es". 😄
P.S. You look very cool with that hat, you remind me of Avril Lavigne in her younger years. Great style.
Thank you so much for the kind words and advice, it means a lot! And I love Avril!
@ You welcome! 😉
😃 been awaile since ur last video del glade u posted :D get better soon :)
Thank you! :)

Didn't know computer science courses could get so heated as to elicit tears. Saw some get a little teary eyed in civil procedure in first year law school--but that was out of nerves in a Socratic method lecture course, not due to the other students in the class.
Yeah I’m not really sure what to expect with this class. I know I have a good team though so if there is any crying it’s not going to be because of the three of us lol.
much much love to you Deli!
Thank you so much! Much love to you as well! ❤
I'm new here, I dropped out of college myself, it just wasn't for me, but im glad I did, I ended up becoming a plumber and its been incredible.
Keep up the great work, I know where you're coming from, your health and well-being come first, always. We're all here for you 💯
That means a lot, thank you! I’m really glad to hear that you found something that you like!
Cool Adidas gear. I have black Adidas gym shoes, but they're all busted out so I'm replacing them with some new Reeboks - also black. I think they are the same manufacturer/quality but just branded differently. Good luck with the new semester, sounds interesting already.
Thank you! I love Adidas! And yes it is already interesting and it has progressed into becoming even more interesting since this video lol.
3.71k subscribers. They have only been going up constantly. One of these years you are going to be very popular with millions of views.
Thank you! :)
Hey Del, just wondering whether you'll upload a sequel to "The Struggles of Dating as an Introvert", and show videos of you on your dates 😉 Look forward to it mate.
Hoping to finish my webdev by the summer with you!
These community colleges are literally insane.
They really are! I’m looking into WGU.
hope your semester goes well
Thank you!
When you switch schools the situation will change a lot also I did my bachelor's in 3 and a half years and work in a very different field. For me personally, it wasn't worth it. You'll be good
This was me past 2 weeks , I haven’t even be able to focus and it’s my last year
Writing software is not easy. It is always an uphill battle, and you are always learning, you are always facing an unknown. I am not surprised to hear that some folks are having such visceral reactions, and I do not believe that your instructor was exaggerating. Some people are simply not cut out for this. The ones that are are those that thrive on and have the innate grit to tackle problems that seem impossible in the moment.
In real life a lot of developers have a bit rough around the edges personality and there will be always one brilliant jerk on the team. lol It is great that you have got friends on the team.
Very true! And yes I am very lucky that my team is my friends.
good luck, nice eyes
What languages do you know? I’m going to need interns this summer.
🦡🦨🦫🐿🐀🐁🦔🦧
Ok you guys meet at Dunkin and have a nice iced coffee while discussing .Net issues
Now that's an idea.
I’m not very into software development, so I don’t know why this is in my feed, but you’re absolutely gorgeous nonetheless. 🤷🏻♂️
If you want to be ahead of the norm early on PLS learn Git and put your projects on Github, employers do value a person who can SHOW their skills and Github will slap resume's!! This supposed project will be perfect for that!! Youll thank yourself later!
That is good advice, thank you!
It seems like that me forgetting that you can't have links on comments got me banned from the comment section... oh well... sorry!
Edit: or maybe I used a forbidden word? I don't know, I hope the comment went somewhere you can check it out, Del! I wrote a project idea!
I didn’t see that comment! What video is it on?
@@diaryofdelilah
No problem! I still have no idea why YT removed the comment, but here's a summary:
A multiplayer game that would leverage JS for the user interface (you gotta use the browser, right?), C# for the management between the interface and the database, and the database to store registry and login information. Github would be used as the versioning system, and something like Docker + Makefile would make it easy for people to run your game in their machines.
I've made a multiplayer game myself with friends, so in the comment I also volunteered myself to help via Instagram with implementation details or finding material.
However, in the latest video, it seems you and your group settled on the interactive story telling project. I hope you guys succeed!
What kind of medication do they have you on if you don't mind me asking?
They had me on something called lamictal. It did not go well for me so I had to get off of it.
I love your laugh 😂
Hahaha thank you! I'm glad!
👍🏽
👍🏻
Ur looking good trump
Is this your way of saying I look orange? Lol
Aren't you concerned about AI automating entry (and even mid)-level SE jobs in the near future? At least you're cute, I'm ugly too.
