For eu39000, this is a blank page with so much potential!!! I'd use the front room where the kitchen is as a dining space & extra living seating, but use the extra smaller room in the back downstairs as the TV/living room. ( make a door beteween kitchen & back room). I'd turn the smaller room upstairs into a 2nd bathroom. I'd have some nice landscaping done in the back & fence the drive off from the patio & green space (since I have dogs.) Lastly, I'd take off so many of those doors like the ones on the stairs & to the left going into the kitchen/dining space.

Make that a true two story house, add a full size terrace on the roof, expand the first floor to the rear with a an open floor plan, build a storage shed in the backyard and presto you have yourself an amazing house! Commenting late again. I love it just as is for price. I know some say remodel this or that but it costs money. We bought a fixer in retirement and already spent the extra $100k from the house we sold. We did gut bathroom. Had to do floors, roof and built a block wall around. Then of course things come up not livable or needing fixing. But we didnt change the house. We have a loft type open house with a master only separated by a double sided book case. We continued a small hafl wall on top and two short walls to accomodate a door. You still see the 8 trusses but it disgueses the bedroom. Before it was odd the you could see the bedroom windows and other things in it peeking over the bookcase. We also had a tiny kitchen blocked in by two pony walls like that. We added bartop to make 6 extra seatings for company. Id do that. Love the bartops to keep everyone in the convos. Host the drinks from other side etc. Can even serve from bar tops. We pretty much knew our plans but we added in or left out some tweaks as we lived here. If a vacaton home for a younger family you dont want to spend your money on a big remodel. You need it for vacation! Besides kitchen just needs a little clean up and paint. I like to look at things, plants, trees etc. But I also like to make the house look great to others. Behind my workshop that backs onto another street I planted two flowering Crepe Myrtles that I dont totally see from my yard. People ask me why. I say so others hae something to look at besides the blank wall of my workshop!
I like it, particularly the drive and outside space. Room for a caravan or outbuildings too if an extra accommodation is needed. And it costs less than a caravan at Skegness.
Shame about not seeing la cantina, if you don't have a hand torch could you use your phone torch ? Also would have been fab to see the the house from the furthest end of the garden, that way we see the garden too. I would consider buying remotely but I'd need to see the place in far more detail. Just watched this, I realize this video is a year old, but what, as you are known to say, A BARGAIN! This would be me right down to the ground!. The home in Italy is my dream, not so much my husband's, but both of us spent a few years in Europe as children, and so know what to expect more so than most Americans. We were actually at a financial point where we could have gone ahead with the 'villa in Italy' thing, but I hate to cut myself short, and once you buy the Italian property, there are the upgrades and repairs, and on top of that, then you have to start schlepping the grandkids back and forth from the USA to Italy, so you can see how it can get a bit pricey. BUT...if that lottery ticket ever comes through, lookout Italy! Hahahaha Love your videos!

Good question, he didn’t show nor spoke about infrastructure, plus he was going fast. The basement was dark, we can’t see it, and that smells important part of the house to check for foundation issues, water leakage etc
I would build at the back to double the foot print and triple the floor space. The yard is huge so still would have plenty of area. In fact, I might tear the whole thing down and build some thing with two or three floors and a rooftop terrace.
That living area is too small if you keep the kitchen there, imo you should just make that all one living/dining space then enclose a small portion of the porch out back as a "hall" to the room behind the kitchen that can be converted into the new kitchen, looks like the pipes are all in the same wall. Also looks possible that you could open up that bookshelf to the immediate left of the door (or perhaps even the upper half of the entire wall) so that you can see into the living area from the new kitchen, give you a much better flow. For the bedrooms it might be possible to build out a couple of dormers to give you more head space, and in the "master" you could possibly extend out onto the balcony to really give you a nice master and even put in a bath that could tie into the downstairs plumbing from the kitchen, and your welcome, lol ;?)
Love Italy, Sulmona at Giostra time in August is fantastic, and we have found nothing but kindness , love and generosity from the Italian people.
