BETA Engine - Cracked Exhaust Elbow - Video #31 - Westsail 28 - "Starwhite"

While working in the engine compartment I noticed some movement in the Diesel Exhaust Manifold/ Mixing Elbow. Upon examination I found a crack extending around 3/4 of the circumference of the Exhaust pipe! The potential for carbon monoxide leaks and diesel soot required immediate repair. I ended up replacing the Exhaust Manifold/Mixing Elbow and replumbing most of the exhaust.

You really need a support near the highest point. Running laterally to the side of the engine bay. Steve D’Antonio has a great set of articles on marine exhausts vs waterlines
