The moment I noticed Connor committing to autobattle with Setzer slotting every turn, I was just waiting for the payoff. 3:10:36 for the Joker Doom. Classic.
That boss is very annoying when you keep attacking the girl instead of chadarnook. It really didn't help the (1) time he used an attack spell it was lightning magic for some reason
This is the best game. So many memories and hours of my life put into this, and yet it never gets old. Can't wait for the X play through, and I hope you do 4 as well someday
What a chill vibe. Connor enjoying the game, Mouse just chilling and keeping Connor company, Backseat Pete popping in from time to time, excellent game soundtrack. This is great 2nd monitor content while crunching numbers for work.
7:41:48 Well a lot of us who played the early FFs and other old Jrpgs have learned certain habbits. Like speaking to every NPC multiple times to exhaust dialogue and checking every corner of every room for hidden passages. That's a thing we got used to. Similarly to how Dark Souls can make you paranoid about illusory walls haha. So you just start hitting random walls in case there's something there. So yes Connor, I actually found that by being meticulous and thourough. :) You forget that when we played these games, we had all the time in the world and we took our sweet time too. You're playing them in a hurry so you're more likely to miss stuff like that.
Fantastic playthrough, really happy to see Connor beat FF6. I think it is really touching to have Connor, Mouse, & Pete's favorite characters in the final fight against Kefka & it wasn't even planned, it just happened that way. Unfortunate, Gogo was thrown aside since Gogo can be given unique character commands so he could've been using Edgar & Sabin skills for example. Final Boss Spoilers:
been having so much fun watching these ff playthroughs. I've only ever played ffx and then ffxiv, the latter of which makes SO many references to these past games that was totally lost on me. So now I get the excitement of seeing those references in a backwards "no way, that's originally from THIS game??" way. Super hyped to see your ffx playthrough. I worry you may not connect with it as much since there will be less parts to voice act, but I hope you still enjoy the crazy phenomenal cut scenes and music.
Not many people find this out but Relm and Gau are some of the strongest the game has to offer if you level them up proper. Relm has the best magic stats in the game and Gau has a bit of a Technical Cheat to him, if you have his Stray cat Rage and equip him with amazing defense and attack equipment or even Berserk status dude is a straight up murder God in this game.
Gau I'd agree, but relm comes very late to the point where you can have several magicite-boosted levels, and she will be super behind on learned magic, effectively lowering the gap to the point where I'd argue Terra/Celes are still much better mages. Gau is awesome though, it doesn't even have to be stray cat rage. Templar for early mid game gives early access to fira, behemoth rage from the floating continent spams meteor for midlate game, and rafflesia can charm pretty much every boss. And If you're a psycho you can abuse rages for type advantages and other properties like float/safe.
The real reason people like Relm is because she has an OBSCENE magic stat, and magic vastly outscales physical in the endgame of 6 (appropriate, given the story).
@@kingmanic Lightbringer/Ragnarok is much better off being used without offering as it shuts off the mp crit/cast effects. You might as well just throw it on a mage for the statboosts at that point.

For the Mage Master in the Cultist's Tower: The non-Arise strategy was to use Rasp to burn his MP then he wouldn't have the MP to counter with Ultima. However, in the Pixel Remaster, Rasp was nerfed and only burns hundreds of MP when bosses have tens of thousands, so its significantly less viable as an alternate option. Also, the "cheese" strat for the boss was to berserk him, so he couldn't run you over with spells. He'd still counter Ultima at the end of the fight though.
I find it interesting that like 95% of the main story takes place in the first half of the game, while the second half is more open world side questy. I personally would've preferred a couple more story beats before the final boss.
he missed quite a bit in the second half. The second half provides lots of hidden backstories for the characters and some hidden history and lore. But it’s a pain to find. These old games were made to be played over a long time. The game was actually supposed to be finished after the floating island but the developers finished well ahead of schedule so decided to include the world of ruin. I still think it ended up being a stroke of genius to have Kefka (not many would guess the crazy clown side boss ends up a God, and the main antagonist, at the time of release) win and ruin the world. The last bit is getting the gang back together for the final assault. You also have to remember that this game was pushing the SNES to the limit when it was made and including more story beats was probably asking a bit too much. It’s a 30 year old game that released before FF7 made JRPGs mainstream, and it’s a testament to its quality that for 30 years it’s continued to find new fans, and has been in the top 3 of FF rankings in many of the official and largest rankings. 10 and 7 usually take the top spot, but 6 and 9 do in certain ones too. Like Pete, it’s clearly my favorite, too.
@@makasete30 FF6 is cool but it's miles away from "pushing the snes to the limits". Great stream finishing my favorite FF game! It took me another few days to get through this VOD. The beginning of the World of Ruin was interesting. I didn't know which fish to get, so Cid died on my first playthrough, and that scene with Celes jumping off that cliff was so sad. It's cool that the game becomes open world once you get the Falcon. I never slept at an inn so I never saw Shadow's dreams and didn't realize that he was Relm's father. Too bad he stays behind on Kefka's Tower and never becomes an actual father to Relm. Another theory on Gogo is that it's Relm's mother since they never said she died. Gogo mimics abilities like Strago mimics monster skills and Relm sketches copies of enemies. Gogo also wears red and gold like them. I love that the final dungeon forces you to make 3 teams and you can fight the final boss with 12 characters; with characters jumping in when you lose a few or wipe out. I'll look forward to Connor playing FFX.

I love how Connor knows that 99% of his combat problems is from his over-reliance on Auto Battle and then never learns from that mistake the *entire* playthrough.
Hey Connor. I know at one point in the vod u mention wanting to try earthbound. I just wanted to say as someone who shares Pete's admiration and opinions of the SNES RPG greats, that Earthbound is an entirely different animal than the others. Chrono, trigger and FF6 are storytelling greats with fantastic OSTs.earthbounds OST is exceptional too in a different way. Your gonna have to take the exploration and talking to npcs to a new level. Earthbound will never blow anyone away with its mechanics. What sets it apart is the love, the quirkiness, the eccentricity, and the attention to detail that is put into every odd corner of that game. The true appreciation of that game will come from reading each and every bit of dialogue. I truly hope I get to experience your voice acting in that one, but be prepared. You won't get much main character dialogue, you're gonna need to voice so many quirky npcs tho! Here's hoping
Gogo being Darril is way out there, his origin was from Final Fantasy 5, and Final Fantasy 5's Gilgamesh makes an appearance in Final Fantasy 8, so I assumed that the Zone Eater dwells in the Cleft of Dimensions and ate Gogo and the Warring Triad ripped apart reality and deposited the Zone Eater onto that island where it just hangs out, trapped.
Let's say there's a balance: the satisfaction to beat a boss is proportional to how much you suffered for it. Sketch is a shit ability though, but yeah Relm has the best magic. I still prefer Terra and Celes has magic users though because they are the 2 "main characters" in a way, also Terra's special ability is very good (doing a double ultima with her in trance is crazy).
Master scroll works best with weapons that do damage based on factors besides strength. Ultima weapon on a high hp character and the master scroll is a good combo. Seltzers fixed dice and the scroll also works well. 13:31:28
after this playthrough i have a pet theory that someone new coming to this game from 2025 will incorrectly think the regen spell is great value for healing instead of the trash spell that it is
I never understood the turn based hate. To me it's like hating on FPS or TPS. I don't see it as "outdated", to me it's just one genre among many genres. I don't think real time combat / action rpgs are always necessarily better. I mean just look at Diablo4 or Veilguard lol, those games are atrocious compared to FF6. It's not even close. They're not in the same realm of quality.
Bro please (whoever managing this channel ) can you please make a playlist of games he finished in one stream like ultrakill steam and dredge stream please please please
Such a good game. I think 6 is the best Final Fantasy, but it's not everyone's favorite. I hope Connor plays 4, I feel like it doesn't get talked about much, but it's pretty top tier to me. Also Secret of Mana.
It's so weird to see him get excited about Molulu's Charm even though he can just turn off random encounters from the menu in this version. Just like the double XP item, it's been made obsolete. They made so many QOL changes to this game. I loved this game as a kid, but it's crazy how many crummy things I had to put up with - not knowing any blitz inputs for example (since I didn't have the instruction booklet). And the fact that he can just look at a description of each item to see what extra effect it has (but doesn't because he doesn't read anything).
There's an easier way to kill Magic Master - if you drain all his MP with Osmose, he immediately dies. I'm not sure, but i think he doesn't even cast Ultima at the end, because he has no MP.
I blame auto battle for stuff like that. 😂 He found something he was comfortable with (spamming Chainsaw/Crossbow with Edgar, Blitz with Sabin and Runic with Celes) then stuck to it. So he never really got to explore the different possible strategies.
@vulcanh254 he casts regen once a while in battle, not realizing that the esper Kirin casts full regen on the team. But he never even accidentally casts an esper, maybe because he didn't know how? It's not explicitly show in a menu since you have to press up in the magic menu.

Spending the entire game never sorting items and barely using ethers drove me crazy 😄
And the fact that he can just look at a description of each item to see what extra effect it has (but doesn't because he doesn't read anything).
a plain old good ending, that;s the only thing we need :)
considering how much he liked edgar & his chainsaw, does connor become a machinist main in ff14 now?
7:11:21 okay no one could have prepared me for that
There's an easier way to kill Magic Master - if you drain all his MP with Osmose, he immediately dies. I'm not sure, but i think he doesn't even cast Ultima at the end, because he has no MP.
He really should play this game later again, but with pixel remaster arranged music. Its amazing as well! ❤🎉
Dang I need to replay VI.
I am sry for miscounting, things got hazy around the 90s. The next time Pete suggests counting, he can do it himself. 😅
You did us all a great service you legend. Thank you!
Merry Christmas peeps
Will be enjoying this while waiting for Christmas eve
pete stream viewers, did Pete ever got to react on connor's mog tonberry clutch, i need to see that

Final fantasy walked so ff7 could run. Magicite and materia are 2 of my favorite mechanics in the final fantasy franchise
Peak! Cinema!
Is there some reason Connor never used a single summon ever? Like not even once.
@paladinfoxx6574 He did summon Ramuh and Ifrit against the Tonberries but it did less damage than auto crossbow so he stopped after that.
W vid 🙏
amen to shadow the goat
may he reunite with baram/billy
VI>CT all day everyday
True
VI is mad overrated. Chrono Trigger any day of the week.
5:57:00 r. f.
Has Connor played Chrono Trigger before?
Yes he has played it
@muzkool5309 =O Is it anywhere to watch?
@@Mikalia_chan sadly I am unable to share the link here for some odd reason.
Edit : If you want I can share the link through "x" or "ig" , just feel free to drop the handle
@muzkool5309 Oh, thanks, but I found it. =) The next one I am watching for sure.
@@Mikalia_chan oh nice ,
I actually completed that Playlist quite recently myself ,
i wish I can forget it , so that I can rewatch one more time 🥲
Still waiting til he plays ffx remastered
15:03 MF really skipped leg day.
Good playthrough, although i think Backseat Pete backseated too much during the tower section.
Anyone know if Connor has said when he’ll play ff10?
He said that it's on his list, i believe
Merry Christmas 🎄🍻and cheers mate!
Great job Connor, congrats! During the stream I wondered if anyone told you about the Vanish+Doom combo? It's a pair of spells that can insta kill 98% of the monsters/bosses in the game, including DeathGaze (I tested it myself in the SNES version)
You should play Dragon's Dogma 2
