I'm homescooled and taught myself to simplify an algebra problem into an arithmetic. 1/3 of 1 1/2 is 1/2. What's 1/2 of 4.00... it's 2.00. Subtract 2.00 from 7.50, it's 5.50. With word problems look at the numbers and key words, take your time and sometimes you need to try a couple of different keys to unlock the door.
They were overthinking it so much. Divide the cost of almonds by pounds by 3, since you have 1/3 a pound of walnuts, then subtract that from $7.50, and there's your answer
The walnuts are $6.17 a pound. Because if the almonds are $4.00 lb and he only bought ⅓ then he spent about $1.33 for the almonds and $6.17 for the walnuts. And that totalled $7.50. If I calculated it right. Lol. But idk I'm not good at math. Ahh never mind Lol I guess I did it wrong 😳☺
There are 1.5 pounds of mixed nuts If 1/3 is walnuts and 2/3 are almonds, we can divide 1.5 pounds into thirds (1.5/3 = 0.5 pounds) Meaning: 0.5 + 0.5 = 1 pound of almonds And 0.5 pounds of walnuts Almonds cost $4 per pound and since we are only buying one pound of almonds, the almonds alone cost $4 In total, we paid $7.50 for the mixed nuts, so it would be Total Cost - cost of Almonds = cost of walnuts $7.50 - $4 = $3.50 Meaning the consumer paid $3.50 (3 dollars and 50 cents) for the walnuts alone.
5.50 per pound and you need a single pound (two thirds of the 1.5 pounds) so 5.50 is also the total cost of the walnuts. Thumbs up to my brothers and sisters who stopped watching tv to do a math problem.
It's looks good I love it so much it's looks like a new DVD releases review history books documentary about biography book club fun more information about money made into a interview with oasr awesome picture awards TCM channel on the same time years before New DVD releases
Here's how I did it: Since almonds are $4/lb and it's a third of the mix, then we're only using half a pound of almonds. Meaning that the almonds cost $2 which means the Walnuts have to cost $5.50 so it adds up to $7.50
I was actually going to say the walnuts would be $5.75 a pound I figured the almonds would be just under half a pound averaging them out to $1.75 not $2.00
Bill Is Throwing A Party. He Wants To Buy A Pound And A Half Of Mixed Nuts, One Third Is Almonds Two Thirds Are Walnuts. The Total Cost Is $7.50 The Almonds Cost $4 A Pound. How Much Do The Walnuts Cost?
@@diegoarpino2080 It was because it was supposed one of those “Very Special Episode” about underage drinking but the result was mostly a misunderstanding with DJ and Jesse being steamed at her without listening to her. Thankfully, the season 8 episode where Kimmy got drunk did the subject of drunk driving and it handled it a lot better than Just Say No Way.
I actually really liked that particular episode because not only did it tackle the subject of underage drinking, but it also taught people about the dangers of jumping to conclusions as well as loosing your parent’s trust because you lied to them in the past. I think anyone could learn something from that episode

You're never gonna use algebra in real life.
So true.
what chapter is it?

Is it $5.50?
✋Me sitting in my maths class right now
then why do they teach it? and make us learn it?
“No this isn’t for homework.” 🤣
Yes I'll know I'll never learn if I don't do it myself

Did anybody else have severe anxiety when it came to math word problems?
I did. I hated math in school
Math is my worst enemy, so, yes.
I liked math, but I hated word problems especially the hard ones.

There used to be. I used it numerous times in school.
@@jennel802009 So why’d they get rid of it? Kids don’t need help with homework anymore?
😂 Right? This would have helped me big time in school
The fact that people are trying to solve the word problem in a youtube comment section 20 year plus years after it aired cracks me up.
Sometimes I do love the internet 😂😂😂😂

There's 1lb of walnuts and 0.5lb of almonds...
So what the answer?
The walnuts are $6.17 a pound. Because if the almonds are $4.00 lb and he only bought ⅓ then he spent about $1.33 for the almonds and $6.17 for the walnuts. And that totalled $7.50.

If 1/3 is walnuts and 2/3 are almonds, we can divide 1.5 pounds into thirds (1.5/3 = 0.5 pounds)
Meaning:
0.5 + 0.5 = 1 pound of almonds
And
0.5 pounds of walnuts
Almonds cost $4 per pound and since we are only buying one pound of almonds, the almonds alone cost $4
In total, we paid $7.50 for the mixed nuts, so it would be
Total Cost - cost of Almonds = cost of walnuts
$7.50 - $4 = $3.50
Meaning the consumer paid $3.50 (3 dollars and 50 cents) for the walnuts alone.

Math makes my head spin. History and English are more my brainchild.
They were the same parents of the boy that DJ babysat (and that was just a few episodes before).

Exactly. They overcomplicated it so much
for anyway who wants to know: the walnuts cost $5.50
This is not algebra. It is arithmetic
$5.5/pound
Solve for X
Is the answer 5.50$?
Yeah heah no
