As I'm baking something else I set my eggshells on a cookie sheet, when the food is done I turn the oven off & put in the shells - the oven stays plenty hot for ten minutes to do the job, and it doesn't take any more energy/money.

We just set ours in a pot on the wood stove. They crumble easier after as well. Kinda smelly though. The first few times we did it, we tossed the dogs out thinking they were the culprits. When that didn't help, we were eyeing each other suspiciously till we figured it out. Enjoy your day 😊

@@RainCountryHomestead no, just set them on dry. When that membrane gets darker, they seem to be easier to grind down. We just give them back to the chickens or the garden. We haven't taken them ourselves. I cannot confirm or deny if my wife is of the age , that taking them may help her, but I need to look into that so I can get some sleep.

@@cupidok2768 because there are good bacteria and bad bacteria. Soil and your gut need the good bacteria. Baking kills most bad bacteria, then the good bacteria take over. Does that make sense? Not all bacteria are disease causing. Without good bacteria you couldn't digest your food. It's also a protective layer on your skin. When bad bacteria get out of balance with not too many good ones, that's when infection can result. Your body heals itself if you give it the right building blocks.

I was just praying (in tongues) and the idea of consuming egg shells came to me, so I looked for it on both google and TH-cam (yes whilst still praying in tongues lol) and came upon your channel. co-incidentally (God-incidentally), just yesterday, I was speaking to a very close relative about calcium, they are about to start a particular treatment that could leech the calcium from the bones and lead to osteoporosis, so I told them to supplement with calcium, with care. In one of your other videos, you emphasised the need to include magnesium when taking calcium, so I will let my relative know they need to do this. I will be telling them to collect egg shell and start consuming them. Thanks again. I have subscribed💓💓💓

My dog has always gotten one right out of the nest egg every day - but then I saw that some people just throw the egg for their dog and the dog ate the whole shell. Well, the inside membrane of that shell is very good for the dog and I guess the shell. For a while, my German Shepherd ate all of the shell, then she just ate some and some days none and then eat it again. She seems to know if she needs it.

Everyone thinks I don't know what I am talking about when I tell them to use POWDERED yellow sulpher. This is lead in ....... I like many people I want much better food so I have gardens & chickens . I was having issues with snakes having free meals of my eggs & was going nuts trying to figure out how to reduce or stop them from freeloading . It took me several mo. to accidentally remember what my grandmother used in her coops . Now mind you she was beyond terrified of snakes , even toy snakes . She used the sulpher everywhere & very heavily also . I was 57 when I remembered this & put it down on the coop floor , in the bottom of the nest boxes , around the outside of the coop , along the fence , just everywhere . Needless to say the snake issue stopped almost completely in 48 hrs . I now use it on a regular basis yr round . I also use it around & under my house , where the grandkids play and again just everywhere . Also spiders , scorpions , most inscets do not like it either . It helps deter mice in my coops also , not as well as snakes but I would say a 65% deterant . If this did not work I would not keep spending my $$$ on it . Many of the ways the old folks used are the best & don't involve using dangerous chemicals. Everyone have a good day.

@@nz5752 Learning is a life long process . My Great Grandmama always told us that " You can learn at any stage of your life , it is up to you. You can learn things at 90 yrs old & never leave the town you were born & raised in . You can also be sedate , senile & a stick in the mud at 25 yrs old & ready to die , that is up to you also ." I have never forgotten that . My statement is " Self education is free & knowledge is power .So never stop learning . I don't know if it is considered organic but sulpher is natural occurring compound & everything is considered a " chemical compound " whether naturally or man made . I prefer this to the man made stuff but always use with caution . My daughter could not go up to the coop to gather eggs because she was allergic to sulpher .

I've said that forever, has anyone ever butchered chickens and seen the crop?
We used to find very interesting things in there.

No need to refrigerate if they are fully dried, which they should be. Yes, cool dark places are always best for preserving nutrients but they should store indefinitely

Two videos said egg shells will not decompose for many years unless first treated with vinegar.
When I want some calcium, I just eat one of the shells I just cracked. Quicker, less hassel.

I’ve been taking about half a ts a day of egg shell powder for quite some time. I keep the powder in a small glass yar with a lid on in the fridge, but does it have to be kept cold? I saw someone in another video saying that egg shell powder would be safe to consume for up to 3 months, and since seeing that I’ve been concerned if I infact do something everyday that is doing me more harm than good..?Have tried to find an answer to this for months, but finally figured you, Heidi, would be the person to give me the truthful answer to this. The powder still looks completely fine, and there’s no smell either. Thank you for everything you share! God is Good All The Time. 🥰🙏🏻💪🏻

Since it is dried, there is nothing to be concerned about. I never refrigerate mine and I have had some for well over a year. Some people just make assumptions about how long dried items will last and say it as if it is fact.

For the salmonella, just put the eggshells in a sunny place after rinse, for 4 to 5 days.

Thanks, this looks great for nutrition as well as supplimenting soil. I was vegan for 2 years, but now I need at least 2 eggs every couple of days, it solved my issues and I still get all of the vegetable strength and energy. Most importantly I stick to the one meal at the end of the day, no microwaves or wireless devices or LED bulbs or screens. Technology causes a lot of health problems nowadays. Sugar free diet is great. Fasting reduces fatty liver from toxic corn syrup.

A question dear friend, I boil eggs a lot and save the shells, I use them under my tomato plants. Do you think that takes the minerals out of them? I had wondered about this and just thought to ask, Jess on Roots and Refuge puts a entire egg under her plants, I did a few last year but didn’t notice a huge difference versus just the shells. Thanks for all you do and great info you share, blessings

    • @RainCountryHomestead

I believe the boiling does deplete the minerals in the egg shells but this is an assumption on my part

Do u think that baking them for 10mins @200 degrees will deplete any of the eggshells minerals at all?

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No, it is such a low heat and short time it should not hurt the nutrients
