An incredibly overlooked factor in today's modern world is the importance of hand washing. All healthcare professionals have an innate duty to try to promote and maintain their patient's health, as well as to strive to prevent contaminations or infections. It is shown that the number one control method for preventing infection is proper hand washing. The necessary ingredients are quite simple -- soap and water. Make sure if you are wearing sleeves, that they are rolled up past your elbow. Remove all jewelry or adornments on hands and wet them thoroughly. Take enough soap to cover all sides of your hands, then rub palm to palm, before rubbing palm of hand to back of hand with fingers interlaced, on both sides. Proceed to rub palm to palm again, with fingers interlaced. Then palm to palm with fingers cupped and interlaced, to be followed by rotational rubbing of each thumb. To top off this epic procedure, use the tips of your fingers to rub the opposite palm in a circular motion, ending with a brisk rotational rub of your wrists and forearms. After all of this is complete, you may rinse. Quite the event, right? Watch this video to make sure you actually know how to properly wash your hands.

I am a nursing student and I'd like to correct you that the sink itself is contaminated so you really have to be away from the sink. Your uniform cannot touch the contaminated sink. When it comes to the rinsing part, the water should run from the least contaminated area and the hands are more contaminated than the lower arms. The inside of the sink is considered itself as contaminated. You didn't rinse your hands thoroughly starting from the elbow moving down to your arms. You could've prevented the microbes from the most contaminated part to the least. Also, the rolling of sleeves must be above the elbows. 😊
It always amazes me how as a physical therapist , I watch a video like this and get so mad that she’s “ teaching “ her so called proper 7 step technique yet misses some of the most important parts . This is how we contaminate our patients ... then I watch Healrh care professionals go around all day just using the lazy alcohol “ hand sanitizers “!!!! Not realizing that water and soap are THE best way unless one has NO access to soap and water . she just taught people how to contaminate themselves . She also forgot about the part about her jewelry !!!! don’t wear jewelry to work , clip your nails ... it’s common sense !!
Oo
And you should not touch any part of the uniform during the cleaning process, which clearly occurred in this video as the sleeve was below he elbow.
Good video. But I saw a part when the uniform touched the sink. Its against the medical handwashing rules.
Pinoy.. Ako po ay isang Nursing student sa Pilipinas, nanggaling rin po ako sa Saudi. ayun. maganda po ang video na ginawa ninyo.. kasi nakakatulong saaming mga BSN dito. haha!
LEAVE YOUR RINGS ON WHEN YOU WASH OR HAND SANITIZE YOUR HANDS BUT MOVE THEM UP ONE BY ONE TO CLEAN UNDER THEM TO REMOVE THE GERMS ON YOUR RINGS
Exactly, I bet that ring has dozens of germs on. Never gets washed, that’s why I always clean my rings everyday and I’m not even a nurse, even if I’ve stopped in the house I clean my rings and wash my hands before and after. I’m a hygiene professional
From the daughter of an RN, the granddaughter of a WW II Medic and the stepdaughter of a surgeon: One thing nobody is teaching is unbelievable to me. When you go to surgery you scrub under and rinse those nails!! NOBODY ON TH-cam OR TV BRINGS UP GETTING UNDER THE NAILS OR KEEPING THEM TRIMMED AS LOW AS IS COMFORTABLE. This is not the time for manicures and long nails. Try getting out in the dirt in your garden and you'll see later just how much work it takes to get the dirt out of the creases and under your nails even with a great nail brush. Imagine the virus and bacterial particulate matter that is invisible to the naked eye. It's also not about how LONG--though that is important. It's about getting every single place as well and rinsing thoroughly.
You need to wash your ring 💍 too or you scouts have kept it on and wash it while washing your hands if you ring is contaminated you’re going to put it back on what is it good washing your hands?
Hands should be lower than your elbows when rinsing. And turning off the faucet with your bare hands is a big NO. You should use hand towel or paper towel.
I have a brother that will not wash his hands after the bathroom. There is no amount of convincing I can do. He’s an adult and it makes me sick. What can I do?
By touching the uniform with dirty unwashed hands the viral or bacteria transfer inadvertently to the material. I wash as much as possible and then roll up.
Waheguru ji satnam 🙏 shukkar a thde hath saaf hoge Maharaj ji....
I learned this at school today.. thanks for amazing movie
Needed now more than ever. Thanks.
Besaya ka man day!
Thanks for you
if ypu take off your dirty jewellery and put it back on after what was the point??
you cannot use them while working as a nurse so she was just demonstrating that you have to take them off prior to starting.
Nice to know.
shouldnt touch hands once rinsing. dry separately with different paper towels
why thou? will she practice on different patients with each hand?
Yes a nurse should be using different paper towels, but natural people who aren’t nurses can use a towel to sabotage their germs
thank you for doing this video Ma'am ^^ We will have our OSCE next week and this is exactly what our CIs taught us. really helpful :)
hw many duration in this medical hand washing procedure
how long are you suppose to wash your hands
Chocolate no more than 20 seconds
@Brey Reneea In some cases your right, but nurses like this especially during covid should wash their hands for 2 minutes and you should wash them for 2 minutes if you’ve visited or came into contact with something what has lots of germs. But if you’ve only been out shopping, 20 seconds will do and kill most germs and bacteria on your hands
20secind washing time
Where are you from mam
No you failed... You don't have to let your clothes touch the skin am a nurse and i have been through this check off before.

👌 Well explained, done full support for you, welcome back to Kerala Homely Home
You got some big forearms, nice job at the gym
Lol
Nurses should scrub like surgeon do. Surgeons are so careful to be sterile.
Good....
A
Well done
You’re not supposed to shake your hands.
It’s not recommend shaking your hands everywhere as it can also spread lots of germs off your hands before you dry them, it’s recommend shaking your hands onto a towel and then drying them. That will shake most of the germs off your hands, but you don’t want to shake them off your hands on the bathroom floor or door do you?
Thankyou
very nice
Very good
Kollam😁
One mistake while drying her hands, but good video
i like Gabby
Guys, Ari mn kamo d?
GOOD
nice
Who is who is watching the video in 2023 😂😂😂
Your hands are still dirty.
Did you check the water for purity, nope.
Rub your hands away.
This video is not the correct way for a nurse to be washing their hands, it should be strict hygiene and washing them for 2 minutes and using separate paper towels. But a normal person who doesn’t work in a germ environment all day, that’s the correct way to wash their hands
Rispansibitity 😂😂😂
like super nice
That's the only place you need to wash, leave the rest of your body 👍
