Definitely interested in a light seals video, one pro tip is 100% cotton yarn works pretty dang good as lightseal replacement for where the door meets the body and won't degrade or fall apart like the foam seals.

I usually go to Michaels craft store for various sizes of black yarn. They also sell black sheets of felt with an adhesive backing. I will cut that into thin strips. I have many types of film cameras so I have to have a variety to fit medium format backs.

@@richardt1792 the adhesive felt works wonders for the door film door light seals! Forgot to mention that in my post, but used yarn and adhesive felt on my A-1 and it’s perfect.

One tip for cleaning - use unscented baby wipes. They remove a surprising amount of dirt without using harsh chemicals, It's amazing how much gunk comes off, even stuff you can't see, especially on leather/leatherette. Then finish off with a microfibre cloth.

To add to the battery point: make sure you try to find the manual for your camera to see what voltage the camera is rated for. Especially with older cameras that use discontinued batteries and light meters. Using incorrect voltage batteries with the internal light meters will cause your pictures to be incorrectly exposed

I just got my first film camera (Canon Rebel G) to take with me on outdoor adventures. I am not only pretty new to film photography, but photography in general. I will probably be binge watching your channel the next few months/weeks 😂

If you have an AE1, and the door for the battery compartment snaps off due to old plastics use CA Glue, has held up since the repair 2019.

I really need help.. I have a Petri MF102. And I've never really used anything other than the camera on my phone.
I don't understand anything. I don't know what any of the numbers mean, and I also don't understand the apps.
I'm going on a trip in less than a week, and I really hoped I would be able to use it 😞

This was the worst DIY film camera maintenance video ive seen. The name of the video is very misleading. Maintenance mean it WORKS before it was broken. A rocket blower is the only real tool you mentioned...and thats sad. Cleaning the front and back element mirrors in the viewfinder of this camera is completely fine as long as you dont put alcohol on the middle glass.
"Im obviously not a camera tech"... yeah you didnt have to tell me twice. You literally only mentioned the easiest troubleshooting methods... i know this video is older, but i just have a vendetta against "popular" film YT photographers. Do better if you want to take advantage of the algorithm, geez
