I wasnt born until 84 but I definitely appreciate the diversity of music from the 60's and 70's and how themed alot of bands were. Mandrill is one of my favorites.
Live bands...Now thats entertainment. Mandrill like many bands of the 60s & 70s were and those band members still alive are truely masters at what they do. This music lives on as all music does only Mandrill goes down as one of the best of all times. Much respect to those who provided people a since of peace while living in a troubled world.
This is one of my favorite Mandrill tunes. The piano player is mean! Loving the entire instrumentation and arrangements but particularly the piano player who's mean! Makes me want to practice 8 hours a day for sure. Also love the flute. Mandrill is one of the best bands that ever performed and they haven't as much recognition as they deserve. Their live performances are awesome.
Mandrill one of the greatest "versatile" Bands ever. Out of NYC but diverse ethnically as any band, brings multiculturalism-pluralism together as chemistry mixes with musicianship into a blatant mosaic of creativity, relevance, and pure joy...the way God/Allah intended the "variety" of life to dominate that no one would ever be left out, all inclusive! Mandrill=great music. Peace to All my brothers and sisters of all races.
Thanks for posting Mandrill, brings back memory when I was 15yrs old in 1972 (are about) and brought Mandrill albums. None of my friends could understand why, but listening to it today in 2014, it still sounds a beautiful to this 57yrs old man as it did way back then. Gonna download me some Mandrill asap.
Man! Haven't heard Mandrill since the early 70s. Great music to get wasted to all those years back! But despite the time-span, it all comes rushing back! Thanks for the posting . . . Much appreciated . . .
@BreezesofConey thank u my brother mine just turned 28 and can also appreciate the music of my era. I don,t take anything away from anyones music but 70's music was special. Such creativity can only be paralled by few.
I believe Polydor Records A&R people during that time must have been really cool....how could you possibly contain this talent? It's so hard to pigeonhole these guys. That was what made this group so great.
@spookkatz That's what I'm talking about. Listen I have everything this group made. There is another group that was just as versatile, OSIBISA, I only wish I would have kept up with their music as well.
Osibisa have an official website and lots of official merchandise online, check them out! Out of the original lineup, Sol Anarfio, Teddy Osei, Del Richardson and Robert Bailey remain. However, only Del and Roberto are in the current version of the band.
@DIAMONDBIRD4 Not in mine either. My daughter is 27 and totally appreciates the great things we had when we were her age and taught her well, cause she hits our LP stacks and listens to our old albums and watches the old movies from that time too. She's a smart girl, not willing to settle for the crap they have out now.
this is so marvelously progressive. a perfect synergism of rock, jazz AND disco. simply marvelous !!! applause!

Beautiful tropical beach , sunset music , just beautiful , mandrill
A soaringly terrific sound. Love the violins in this, coupled with that electric guitar gives a classic 70's dream funk journey.

I remember when this came out. It was smooth then and it is STILL smooth now... It reminds of cruising the blvds headed to the beach.. Great memories!
Mandrill's live concerts back in the 70's were the finest shows ever -- They recorded way over a dozen albums...
