Wonderful. I was going to ask how I, as someone likely to access VAD, discuss this with the family. They're broadly supportive, but i want them to be well prepared
Good luck with that especially if the loved one has sustained a head/brain injury or have Alzheimers regardless of how clear they were about their wishes prior to the injury or later stages of Alzheimers. It is utterly heartbreaking as a medical EPOA as you are powerless to honour their wishes.😢 Living this scenario now😢
Every point you made is valid, great explanation. I’m 100% donated, don’t want to be revived and my other half and kids back me all the way. Should I require VAD they’re all good with that as well.

My Dad has confided in me that he wants to undergo VAD when the time comes. This video is amazing. You're the best ❤

Easiest and hardest decision all rolled into one. Great video as always!
my weekly lesson
I quit my job and took care of my mother until her last breath. I have no regrets...

I'm curious, what is the effect of the drug? What causes the death? Are they aware when they die or before their death?
They cause the brain and nervous system to slow down, eventually the person will stop breathing. Or that's my understanding at least
@vickibart3491 Thank you.
Hard decision for patient and care givers.
