In the 70's this spitfire was part of BBMF at RAF Coltishall, along with PM631. As ground crew I used to love doing starter crew when the engine guys were doing engine runs, especially if it was high power runs.
She is great. I have sat in her and is surprisingly comfortable for a Spit. She left the BBMF so they could fix LF363 from its fire and replaced the former RRHF Spit, which crashed, killing the pilot. I am seeing her as soon as I am going round the RR Hangar. Great alongside the P-51 as well.
Always great to sit in a Spitfire. I've been in MH434 and AR501, but not this one. Being a later mark with the griffon engine I wonder whether the cockpit was the same size or slightly larger? Thanks for telling me why the BBMF sold it as I was wondering. Enjoy seeing her in the RR hangar with the P-51. I'll look forward to hopefully see your film/pictures of that. 👍
