When I was a child if you made a phone call that was in the same exchange (city) you only had to dial the last 4 digits. Cannot remember exactly when they made that change.
Just fascinating to see how far the technology of voicemail has come. Voicemail was a luxury add on service back in the 80s and 90s, even answering machines were very expensive at one point. And now it’s included in the phone price! Just never thought that would be seen.
Voicemail was definitely not a luxury in the 90s. You could get an answering machine for like $20. Expensive for then, sorta, but you only had to buy one, and it lasted at least a decade.
0:28 Aww, that poor Linebacker... 😞😢 Some hot grease burned her hand. Also I think her head got to close to the burner because 90% of her hair is gone!
No . They used the British original Meccano set and not the US unlicensed knockoff copy that the Erector set was. Meccano invented in 1900 but had hundreds of later copies despite court cases.
Guys it's the last days. Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5 to see for yourself. If you're not in the word, you need to get into it. If you are, read more. The enemy is getting trickier and we need to strengthen our armor. God bless you all!
You know it’s the past when the doctor actually comes to you.
in Mexico, and other countries of the world , doctors still come to your house to see you if you are sick ...
Damn he made it out of meccano
4-digit phone numbers. I wonder how many there will be in the future? It's an ingenious invention with all those cool parts. Love it! 😄

I remember in the 70's making calls using the last 5 digits. We had 362, 363, and 369 prefixes, so just 2-3456, or 9-3456.
So I guess you had to tell everyone, "If the phone picks up but I don't answer, leave a message."
Mrs Fletcher sounds fine.
The cheapskate wouldn't hire a secretary.
😂
No doctor’s surgery is open 24 hours a day.
You don't have to train or pay the machine. That's just intelligence.
Meccano set was favourite toy.
A much better name than our US Erector Set.
Strange as it may seem, they actually had answering machines in 1959. They were the size of a middling suitcase and mostly used by businesses.

Yes
The speech is not as refined compared to royalty. Any one who is English immediately knows the difference.

Mecanno! I can barely make a simple gear ratio!😂
How would they know to leave a message if voice mail isn't already a thing.
Obviously tell them to leave a message when they call to become a patient or when they come in
He could ring them up and leave them a message.
Why does it look old, even compared to the video?
You'd think the guy knew the TV people were coming so would dust it off or get a new bulb
Not TV. A filmed newsreel for paying theatre audiences before the main attraction.
I wonder how many erector sets that guy used to make that contraption?😅

They used an old ERECTOR SET, as the bones
