Love how you hooked it up to the drain underneath and overflow hole ~ I realize it is after the fact (you've already made it and put it together) but somehow could you give detail on exact parts and process before connecting to the copper piping? thank you
I took a clawfoot tub dug a hole under it lined with firebrick put tub on two cinderblocks either end of hole. I started with half tub of water that way I could cool it down as needed. I built a small fire and kept working on chores. I would check the temp now and then to see if I need more wood. I use small 2" sticks (oak) so I may more easily regulate temp. When my chores are complete I either add cold raimwater to make it prefect temp. The bottom of tub can be hot on your bottom so I sit on a bath mat. This is simple and highly effective
Thanks Zachary for this awesome video. In the outtakes you mention having a smaller fire to "get some of the water circulating". I was thinking of putting the coil on the outside of the burn barrel to keep it from getting damaged. ( we use a big burn barrel for yard trimmings). Would you say their is an ideal temperature for the fire? Maybe coil on the outside of the barrel would keep the water flowing?
Nice hot tub. Do you have a check valve on it? maybe on the drain. Might work like a coffee maker and let water into the coil from the drain but not allow it back in. Just a thought.
Loved your video. Wish I could build a setup like that. But I Don’t think my landlord and the HOA will let me build something like that. Thanks for sharing your build.
Hi Zach! I happened upon an old tub without the feet last year. I'm planning on doing this! Can you go into some detail regarding the coil and the setup? Also, what do you do when it gets too hot? How do you cool it down? TY!!
I have my clawfoot tub in the backyard. It’s right next to an outlet so I’m using an immersion heater and I installed the hot water tap on the outside of the house. What I really want is to be able to use the water more than twice which means sanitizing and filtering it. Do you do that? If so, is there a video for that too?
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing. I've recently made something similar with a propane heater and a clawfoot but I'd like to hook it up and use fire as well. What fittings did you use? How did everything get sealed to the tub?
Well....I wrote you a year ago....no response? I was hoping you might save me some hassles since I wanted to build one! I got tied into work/house last year and didn't get to it.... Can you instruct me on the correct hardware please.. ?? Much appreciated!
Got the land, got the freshwater stream, got the tub... set it down by the stream... heavy bitch! 400 lbs? Oooof! Slid it across the yard on the snow, and down the embankment...I got a barrel about 3/4 the size of yours- little narrower, little taller... Now, as for fitting? Can you walk me through please? I see you got 1" pipe? I know some people have lamented getting 1/2" and taking too long to heat it up... would 3/4" do better? Is bigger diameter BETTER? Just not sure how to graduate DOWN from the openings, and the fitting set up. Thanks much!

I have an old cast iron bath, this looks safer than lighting a fire under it. Maybe even site the bath indoors, then. Thanks for the video

This is GREAT!! We are working on something similar...no more COLD showers up at the Cabin! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Fantastic! I've been looking everywhere for plans to make one of these. Yours is the best design Zach. Could you list the supplies you used? Thanks!!
Absolutely amazing!!! 😀 Searching for a claw foot tub now. 😀 Loved the toe wiggles ahahaha!

Thanks for sharing! We are going to try it with our outdoor tub.
Great video Zach. This might give Larry the Cable Guy a reason to summer in Upstate New York.
Excellent job....I just got a cast iron tub for the cabin....gonna try it out and use your process..great job,

I love your video, Zach! Maybe one day we can visit you all there and use your hot tub. Please say hi to Diane from us.
I was thinking of doing something similar... but I was gonna put the fire UNDER the Bath
I'm not sure how I missed this! Great job!
Hey Zachary I want to do it. But can you list what had you used
This is an excellent idea. Thanks for the video

My next weekend project.
Really cool thanks for sharing
Thanks I watched it on tv TH-cam looks fun. You looked like it was worth it stretched out in the tub
Adored the cut out Sean's 👍🏼
Need a Flat Rick to Stand on when you get out to keep feet’s from getting dirty
finally I realize my smell not really worse even not go bath for 3 days
What a nice guy you are
The simple things in life are the best, 🌟🌎🌟if ever I take an adventure to NY from RI, I'll test it out 🤣TY
Could u send a picture of how the bottomi is hooked up
Because I don't have an inlet at the top of bath could I put a tap on it to poor in and also turn it on and off to control the water passing through?m
Cool concept throw some carrots and celery and onion in there and your good to go.lol
do you have a cut off for when the water gets too hot? or do you turn it off manually?
Great video
What was the adjustment that finally got it working?
Looks great!!!
Clever! :)
