    I have been on the advanced waves. They are amazing! I personally like the 3rd wave the best because i didn't have to worry about getting in peoples ways.

      Yes, Wave #3 on the expert is usually the most hollow and steepest wave of the set!

    This was super informative!! I can pop up and signed up for intermediate and I’m super nervous! Wondering if I should drop down to beginner *face palm*

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can pop up and bottom turn, you should be good to go. Keep practicing your pop ups daily to commit the motion to muscle memory. This way, you don't have to think as much when your paddling for the wave, positioning along the wall, etc. As the Water Patrol guys for tips when you're out there, and even before the session. They are AWESOME!

    Great information for newbies! I like the wave myself. Just too much waiting and it’s a bit shorter ride than expert. But if it had only 9 guys, then I would ride it more.

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely a longer wait with more surfers, but still fun!

    I can’t wait to go here. I’ve never surfed before but I’ve skated my whole life and I’ve done some snowboarding but not a crazy amount. Surfers would you still recommend beginner waves or can I go straight to intermediate? Lol.

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Highly Recommend* Try the beginner wave first if you can. If you decide to hit up the intermediate wave, practice your pop ups daily until you get there. Then practice a few times on a soft top before the session. There are many TH-cam videos on beginner surfing. A little research will help your first session tremendously!

    I want to go! A question, I saw a small, non-detailed mention on the web site on lessons, did they offer lessons too?

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that they offer beginner sessions for sure, and the Water Patrol is very helpful during these sessions. Even the local surfers help sometimes! Definitely try a beginner session if you can.

    How did booking a session work? Seems booked out for months

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just have to watch the website frequently and book AS SOON as they post the schedule. It's doable, and that's the only way I get sessions in regularly.

  • @lifeofmtc
    @lifeofmtc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video. If you don't mind I have a few questions: 1) Public sessions, how many people are in the water with you (on average) and is it about the same number throughout the day? 2) About how many waves did you ride (public session) given the number of people in the water with you? Thanks again!

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the public Intermediate session there are as many as 12 people (mostly distanced of course) and usually 9 on the expert session. Most sessions are full because it's been sold out quite often. On the intermediate you'll get around 8-12 waves/hr. On the expert, you will get 15-20 waves per hour (about 1 wave every 3-5 min). Sometimes the rotation, skill/fitness level and number of people in the session will affect your wave count.

    Hey we are heading to BSR tomorrow for 3 days! Winds are 10-20 and then 15-25 the next day. Are we screwed? How bad will the wind effect the wave? I’m going with my two groms and hoping we score.

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How was it? Hope you had a good session and the weather was ok! I've been when winds are 20+ and it's still a blast! The tubes in one direction really open up when the wind is on it, but the opposite direction's waves are mushier. Hope you packed some neoprene!

    I just did the beginner session and have no problem getting up. You think I can try intermediate? They only have those sessions now

    • @thesurfrepublic3514
      @thesurfrepublic3514  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! It will take some adjustment because things move a lot faster and the wave is more steep. But Yes, you should be able to get a few waves in your first session! Even if you only get 1 or 2, it's 100% worth the experience. Have fun with it!
