Spike van Zoest, the guitarist is actualy married to Bella Hay, Barry Hay's daughter
Di-rect is one of the best bands in The Netherlands. They and the Golden Earring are from the same city The Hague. Di-rect's latest single 'Through the looking glass' is fantastic. Sounds a lot as The War on Drugs. Check it out.
Also, Spike van Soest, got the original guitar from his father in law, Barry Hay! A few years ago. That must be very amazing to have!

Radar Love is only one of the best rock songs ever written!!! Aired in the 70's and still going strong now!!! Freakin' awesome!!! Did I already state that this song is amazing??!!! Love, love, love this song...whether it is played by Golden Earring or now by Di-Rect! A good song will always be a good song!!! You see all the musicians enjoy themselves as they are slaying their instruments!!

Di-rect does amazing covers and from what radio stations say they often do them in record time, like when asked to do a cover of something in the top ten, they'll be there in the studio doing a unbelievable version that will be as good or better than the original. They show great respect to the classics like this too and don't just change everything around. And the songs they do are complicated, it's their professional skill that makes it sound so smooth yet also with feeling.
There are many many famous bands that could not copy that about them.
Heard this live last week....dont forget they are playing this in the morning, like 8 or 8.30 am or something!

Marcel, the lead singer of Di-rect lived in my street a couple of years ago(ive moved now) he was a really nice dude and He and my mom talked a lot bcs they saw eachother a lot in grocerystores etc. He is an awesome dude, very down to earth.

radio 10 is my favorite dutch radiostation, specially between 4 pm and 7 pm weekdays.
direct is a long time dutch band going for at least 22 years strong now.

Everybody in the Netherlands was shocked to hear that George Kooymans, one of the founders of Golden Earring and gitarist, has been struck by the terrible disease A.L.S. (Amyotrofische Laterale Sclerose) which breaks down your muscle capability very slowly. We wish George, his family and friends and the band members strength and sympathy during those difficult times.
Spike is very very good gitarist i personal find him one of the very best from the netherlands
About the only band who can actually do a good job and being an Earing fan that's saying a lot! It's not a simple copy it is making their own version. They are a great band with good songs of their own. And from the same town as G.E. You should check them out and the hidden gem Anouk too.
