He’s basically Kirby’s species. so when the mask is off, he’s a different Person. I think it’s good they kept the mask on. But again, meta knight is still pretty FUCKING CUTE
That's literally the whole point. His only reason for keeping the mask on is how it makes him look. He never says it but a lot of the time when it breaks, he looks surprised and embarrassed and immediately hides his face.

Just some lore for you. I didn't get that detailed with it and avoided most spoilers but that's basically what Kirby is. The way his mask seemed to work in the anime(eyes just darken when unconscious, no expressions besides maybe anger...) gave off a slightly different feel than in the games. But I thought up a hypothetical Kirby episode where his mask broke once, though I can't remember the details. It would've been amazing had that actually happened in one of the episodes...
That’s weird, I had a hypothetical episode with that same concept. Except at that time I never played the games and just theorized he had a bunch of giant tentacles on his face that randomly attacked. I was weird.
Honestly the means is very simple. A battle of some sort splits his mask just like in the games so he has to go without. He'd stay out of the public eye with the episode focused on him sneaking around, possibly giving some backstory on why he hides his face as he tries to get to a specific place. It's revealed that he makes the masks himself (or has a very close personal friend make them) and he has like a hundred spare ones stashed away.
I absolutely LOVE how the moments you chose for maskless Meta Knight were when he was at his most vulnerable/emotional. If anything, him being maskless in front of ONLY Kirby and Tiff (and maybe Tuff) would've gave him more humanity in the anime. Although I have to say that him being without his mask in the scene where him and his knights see Escargoon's mother would kinda miss the point. The humor came from the fact that a normally masked stoic badarse chuckled and displayed actual emotion through only his voice. Still, great vid. And it makes me yearn for what could have been in an already awesome (in Japanese only) anime.

If Cloud got a cosmetic update in SSBU, then why not other characters? For Meta Knight, if he gets knocked back far enough or screen KO'ed, his mask should break and reveal his face.
