      @Miss Anthropy Heritage means nothing if your culture has never produced anything meaningful to the world. I come from Aztec descent, and there is nothing that they did for me to be proud of, hence being proud of being a certain color or background is counter productive.

    There is numerous Cherokee tribes that is not state nor federal however shares the same surnames as the federal cherokee and even shares the same dna as the federal cherokee and is from the same removal location. The emigration cherokee list names people from quite a bit of these tribes as never leaving such as Jesse smith's group of Carroll county, Ga.

    • @VadulTharys
      @VadulTharys 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My mothers family is Eastern Band, my fathers Fox and Scottish. My grandfather could speak the language but never taught his children, and my grandmother's father had feared that if they were heard speaking it there would be trouble, so they never learned. Fear and a need to blend cost me much of my heritage, but my daughters learned it, my wife insisted. They speak her native language (Spanish, Andalus, Catalun) and now mine, I never have learned, but am proud my grandson is learning it. I was taught much of our history, and legends, and have been guided by Juno my whole life my parents both cried when I told them of how one day when I was 12 walking out of the woods after my fathers truck broke down at 2 am in the morning I met a wolf pack. My mother said I was blessed, the rangers said I was the luckiest boy they ever met. Dad stayed with my sister who was 5 in the truck since it was below freezing. Keep the traditions alive make sure you teach your children so they understand their connections to the land and their ancestors.

    My grandad was of the Cherokee Nation and I although I live in Texas my mom's family in Southeast KY. Doing genealogical research it shows my grandfather as a child and his father listed as speaking their native tongue on papers from the late 1800s all the way through the 1940 census. He died of black lung disease causing a massive heart attack when I was 3.

    no, those are NOT the only 3 cherokee tribes, the Government even states this. The CNO and UKB and EBCI is not even the original cherokee nation. The CNO was formed in 1975 by ross swimmer. According to the indian arts and crafts act...there is over 10 Cherokee tribes that are seen as Authintic indian tribes under the name Cherokee. Numerous others are waiting for their federal rec hearing but have not had their hearing yet.

    there are 3 federally recognized Cherokee tribes. 1. Cherokee nation 2.United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee 3. Eastern Band of Cherokee. sadly there are 100s of fake groups

    • @nunyabidness3429
      @nunyabidness3429 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      federally recognized is not equal to fake. Not to say there aren't fake groups, there are many. But many of the ones the Oklahoma nation documents as fraudulent are state recognized for a reason. Some are even consequence of blood quantum laws coupled with oddly restrictive enrollment conditions. Such as using only one base roll for certain situations or regions. The USG had a huge hand in the creation of their constitutions and conditions for the federal government to say "Yeah, you're Native." Not to disgrace or disrespect the three federally recognized nations. But would it honestly be that much of a shocker to learn that the culture has always existed outside of the trust lands and reservations of the Ani'yv Wiya since the formation of those nations?
      I could see where some would say: "Yes, all of those groups practice things that we don't at my rez." But even the Otali and Giduwa have trouble understanding eachother speaking. I've seen many Otali speakers claim certain Giduwa sayings, phrases, and songs aren't Cherokee because they don't use real Tsalagi words. Forgetting about the history of the Ani'yv Wiya, of how many were split over the 400 years the Ani Unega landed on the shores. The wars fought against and with them. At times eachother. And even the trail of tears that further segregated our people. That even assimilated natives had to segregate themselves away from white society because being "Christian" didn't magically make Natives any less "red" in the white man's eyes? No, I can assure you that many of us are out there. Though our battle is a two front one, we battle for kinship (not benefits), and reclaiming our history from the Cherokee princesses out there without a single drop of Wiya blood. But not to say, many of our surviving lines exist thanks to our Scots-Irish friends and family also escaping English/American law.
      Sorry for the rant there, no disrespect intended your way. I see this sort of thing and it reminds me of how much of Native history has been white washed or outright destroyed. But A question I'd like to leave for you or anyone else for that matter:
      What's the difference between Ani'yv Wiya and being an indigenous person? As is, What is the difference between living Tsalagi culture, and being native only by blood and not culture?

    Love you speaking Truth. Natives sure was a problem for whites expansion. We didn't lay down. We fought. Why do you think the whites lived here so well? We taught them out of kindness. They enrolled us because we love to fight. We showed them how to ambush. Because natives are Smart. Grab a man from the brush and introduce his neck to the tomahawk and his closest friends to our bow. They called us Savage because we was so good at getting rid of opponents.
    Much love to all tribes. Mine is Cherokee. I stand by all my brothers and sisters of any North American tribe.

    If you learn to speak Cherokee, it changes the way you see the world: Quote from the webpage of Western Carolina,Univ., which teaches it. Well, this is true. Although I didn't know Cherokee language growing up,' my father and grandpa taught me the principles of the culture which I recogized instantly in the concepts found in the structure and words of the language, when I began to study it again. It is a great language with a great culture that must be practiced. If we don't preserve the language \ culture, we will just have to start over.

    My mom's family was Cherokee and I accidentally found out when I was thirteen. For some unknown reason it was okay for the boys to be "Indian" but not the girls. Twelve children, half boys, half girls. My grandfather (apparently a "half-breed") was born in 1879. I still know nothing about my heritage and I'm now sixty. I haven't even been able to find any information about my grandfather, even though I asked. It makes me sad that this was considered bad.

Titus 1:4 "to Titus, a genuine child according to a faith shared in common: May there be undeserved kindness and peace from God [the] Father and Christ Jesus our Savior." peace FROM GOD AND CHRIST JESUS. like Father like Son. you proved me right

    Don’t get froggy about being a force to be reckoned with, didn’t pan out well last time. No of you are a Native American just American, I have Shawnee and Cherokee and Scottish-Irish, German not one of them mean anything to me. I’m just an American. Careful about jumping on that band wagon of I am this or that, often it’s used by those who failed in life and they want companions

      Skin color is superficial. The Eastern Band are the descendants of those who escaped Jackson’s removal. They fled into the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains. Some of our ancestors were not so lucky, and now many of us have whiter skin because of mixed blood. Our white skin doesn’t make us any less Cherokee than our darker skinned relatives in the east. It just means we survived a lot of shit.

      @@thatpantransguytsali’s dead body says otherwise maybe they ran off during the trail but I was always taught (my members of the eastern band) that nobody stayed but instead moved back, also I’m black but my parents are white and idk what your getting at but the part of getting in a lot of shit with your white skin lowkey racist as fuck I’m proud to have a white family regardless of my black skin I know who my peoples are ashanti, and Dahomey on my moms side and Ghana and Congolese on my dads side, my mom is a proud scots Irish, and my dad a is Celtic and welsh we’ve all suffered the same thing y’all have some have participated in it like my Dahomey ancestors, and my dads Celtic ancestors but we should NEVER feel shame about being mixed with different blood nor should we victimize ourselves because of it, there is a warrior spirit in every culture and we are lucky enough to have a variety!
