    Thanks for making this demonstration video on 20" deep snow driveway. My snow discharge chute was off alignment like yours when I first assembled it; however, after reinstall the chute it has not been of any issue since. Even in 20+ inch snow 99% of the time I would keep the auger and impeller at ECO as this speed has enough torque to do the job while increase runtime a lot. I only increase the speed when throwing distance needs to increase. Deeper the snow the slower the wheel speed I use to avoid the snow spill over by the intake housing as the auger and impeller will not be able to clear the intake snow fast enough when the drive wheel is traveling fast. Thanks again for this great demonstration video.

    I just bought mine and I have mixed feelings on it. Now, I don't regret buying it and it will do its job as intended most of the time. I bought one when my Toro I had for 20 years just died. I bought the EGO because it's been snowing where I live for the past 2 days. The one obvious thing I noticed with the EGO is that it's not as powerful as my old gas one, but that's to be expected. It's more noticeable when the snow is heavy, wet snow, especially at the end of the driveway where the snow is built up from the city street plow. I was able to get through it with the EGO, but it was a little more difficult and I had to push it a bit. I also had to go over some places a couple times to get it all, but I was able to get it. Where my old gas blower had no issues getting through hard, wet snow at the end of the driveway. With that being said, most snowfall during the winter will not be wet, heavy snow, so the EGO will work just fine for most situations. The one negative with the EGO is battery life. I wasn't able to finish my driveway before the batteries died. They last about 25 minutes. So I'll have to finish the rest of the driveway later on.
    My conclusion:
    I love how easy it is to use the EGO. You just turn it on and go and it's pretty quiet. It will be great for most situations, but can be a little tricky if the snow is really heavy and wet. It will work, but it will take longer to get through the packed down, wet snow, especially at the end of the driveway as the EGO is not as powerful as a gas blower. Also, you have to be OK withe only 30 minutes of use for one charge of the batteries. You can either buy more batteries, or just finish the rest later after the batteries are charged again.

      Agreed for both tips. You can also slightly bend the tongue of the chute to help bring it down for a better fit. But keep the machine in eco mode, you'll get the whole driveway done with 15" in a single charge

      Plenty of "honest" reviews. This is a great machine, as is many of EGO's products. Nothing is perfect, just a matter of what one can afford, and what best meets their needs. I have a gas blower that has let me down too many times. I prefer the quiet power of the EGO, and since I'm on the sphere, I have enough batteries that adequacy won't generally be an issue. An honest under produced video was a nice change.
    My blower is 20 now and keep thinking I’ll buy an Ariens next. But where I am I could probably get away with electric 2 stage.
    Any idea how the gearbox is made for the auger and are the wheels direct drive or using a friction plate?

    • @Ben-cm2un
      @Ben-cm2un 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Direct drive, pretty much all the electric 2 stage units are direct drive

    • @ulysses01
      @ulysses01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For their new Power Max e24 and e26 electric models Toro is using a friction plate for the drive and for the auger, just like their gas-powered equivalents the Power Max 824 and 826. They’re nearly identical in all the mechanics and pulleys, only with an electric motor instead of gas.

  • @yvond6444
    @yvond6444 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For all those saying thanks but I’ll stay with gas, you do realize that this is an unusually big snowfall right? 1 option would have been to come out half way and do a first pass, recharge and then come back out when it is done. I have the one stage 5amp version and I can easily do a 5 car driveway, 20 x 20 patio and 10 x 12 deck on a 15 cm snowfall. This blower will be more than adequate in most conditions. It doesn’t need warming up, you don’t smell like gas when you go back in the house, you won’t be breathing fumes, no need to do drain gas, tune up or oil change. I’ve had battery operated snow blowers for 5 or 6 years now and never once have I told myself how I wished I still had my gas blower. In my opinion there are more pros than cons to having a battery operated snowblower, even more so if you have other tools from the same brand giving you more than one set of batteries and pretty much eliminating the need to wait to recharge to complete the task.

      @ulysses01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dds360 very true. Gas snowblowers can be great. It’s easy and cheap in the short-term to supply fuel for them. However, the electric snowblowers have the same or more power as a similar class of gas-powered snowblower. They’re also better for the environment long-term, even if the battery prices don’t make them the best short-term value. You’re dealing with less fumes and emissions. There’s also less maintenance for electric. It all depends upon what you want to prioritize. Thanks for this really well-done review.
      By the way, the first snow-storm in your review looked like a good test. Have you been able to reassemble the chute so that it stays secure? Also, please remind me if you were using ECO mode to slow your pace for such a large volume of snow? Maybe the auger was trying to push snow too quickly through the chute.

    Looks like the kind of machine when money is not a consideration (costs similar to a 32" gas unit) that you can count on when you don't need to count on your machine!! half the driveway from $800 worth of batteries. If you think this is maintenance free then you really might want to revisit a gas powered unit. While they make noise and use gas - I have done ZERO maintenance to my machine in 3 years.

      Right, good to know tat its less maintenance.. which brand do you use ? maintenance + noise is what we thought to be a problem and went with an electric one

    Electric snow blowers are a colossal waste of money. Electric is fine for your drill but for this gas all the way. You had to be mindful of using self propel over power consumption and the fact your small driveway could not be cleared in one shot is ludicrous. This model now is over $1000 and that's insane for a plastic snowblower.

    Well, it's better then shoveling... but a gas powered blower would have crushed it!

    You bought an over price door stop. If that were gas powered you would have to wait for it to cool down or have to stop throwing snow LMAO! Electric snow blower hahaha Garbage.
