WCW vs nWo World Tour released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. Released at the peak of World Championship Wrestling's dominance in the Monday Night Wars, World Tour was THQ's first foray into the N64 wrestling scene and is a semi sequel to the lesser known WCW vs. The World for the PlayStation. It is considered the American counterpart to Japan's Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 and is the second best-selling wrestling game for the N64 console.

This game meant so much to be as a kid. The combat system and music were second to none in wresting games of that era
When me and my brothers where young kinds we had both of the games WCW/NWO: Revenge & WCW/NWO: World Tour for the N64. I would play both of them. But my older brothers and their friends much rather play Revenge. Both of the games are really fun. And watching the videos brings back a lot of good memories

@Starscream91 I think the point he was trying to make was that style of game started with WCW vs The World not World Tour regardless of the system. I personally would have never picked up a 64 but for the fact that those games weren't available for Playstation.

The thing I loved about the cartridge era was renting a wrestling game and finding all the hidden characters already unlocked
How? Wouldn't it be easier putting the disk in the computer and going threw the meta data,you can even find stuff thet took out of the game.
How do you know who's unlockable with cartridge?
I remember as a kid being so excited when I realized that DDP and Savage were in the intro and that there were still more wrestlers to unlock....that was pretty much unheard of before this game
After all these years this game still gets me excited. Glacier was my favorite.
Bring back so many memories, me my brothers and cousins taking turns playing this game. Four controllers and 10 kids good times

It was a good game in its own right but the Japanese version shits on it with customisable attires, a ton of extra wrestlers like Andre the Giant, Hawk and animal, Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Giant Baba, Antonio Inoki, Bruiser Brody etc etc. It also had a scoring system at the end of the matches.

The gameplay thankfully ages like fine wine along with Revenge, WWF Wrestlemania and No Mercy.
Out of the four for the 64, I really love World Tour the best. I believe it was the year ‘97 that got me all nostalgic like Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing.

Play the Japanese version of the game called Virtual Pro Wrestling 64. While it doesn't have Wrath, Glacier, or fake nWo Sting, it does have the rest of the WCW guys plus about 60 additional characters from wrestling and fighting promotions all over the world. There are around 100 characters to select from.

All Japanese N64 games work on an American N64. You just need the screwdriver to be able to take the back of the cartridge off because the plastic is shaped differently
it's still a landmark by me! I mean, think about it. This was the very first polygonal wrestling game with totally free movement. It set a landmark for all wrestling games to come, and I give it a lot of credit for that. People keep saying it's bad only because they compare it to the newer wrestling games. Give me a break!What do you expect from the first wrestling game for N64?

I remember unlocking DDP and being super hyped (90's jargon) that he actually had his taunts and the Diamond Cutter (somewhat), especially since a lot of moves in that game were iffy, like Kevin Nash's sitdown Powerbomb.
Rein Engel Scott Hall does the sit-out powerbomb
In fact, Hall does the Splach Mountain in World Tour. But Nash does have a Powerbomb as finisher.
They corrected a lot of those moves in the Japanese version. Nash’s jackknife actually makes the guys roll over on their neck. DDPs cutter was made a regular move so you can do it out of nowhere and his finisher was the spinning power bomb.

That game was the best wrestling game when it came out but its sequels buried it down with custom wrestlers. WWF War Zone was so bad compared to this, especially gameplay-wise. That's probably why they eventually made a deal to make WWF No Mercy, one of the best wrestling games to ever exist, and the foundation of current WWE games.
The battle royals were so fun with 4 players. Fun was next level on 64 because it brought everyone together in the same room! Many fights and many laughs 😂

Savage never had a standing finish in his career, what were they supposed to do? he still had the elbow and doing it while you had special made it more powerful
***** You're right but they fucked up with guys like Sting. They could've made the Scorpion Death Drop as the Finisher but instead it is a normal Move from behind.
+Marquo Vitali In Revenge his front special was his punching combo, some of the front specials in World Tour are inaccurate, at least in Revenge the front specials everyone had they actually used them at one point..
Yep, Revenge was a great improvement about finisher's wrestlers.
