She finished school in meantime and opened her own dance academy. I hope i wont get hate for this but as i agree with you that YG should have handled BOMs scandal better, about Minzy i must say if she was just a little bit patient. You had Bom and Dara reversed. Minzy was the one in the projector you paused and said was cute, she had signed with another company at this time. CL originally wrote the song as a goodbye letter to Minzy, which they later turned into this as a last song, to Minzy, but in a way also to fans. I wasn't a fan of 2ne1 because I only got into kpop within the past year. But I went back and learned more about them and watched them on shows and felt a connection, so this video still makes me sad. Another big deal about this video is Bom was involved in a drug scandal (which she later proved she was innocent of) and seeing her in the video was a big surprise in a way at the time.

I'm just now watching the mv, I couldn't bring myself to see it. I grew up with 2ne1. I've been a fan since their debut, since their Lollipop song with Big Bang! (Damn that was so long ago). I went to their first concert here in the US. This disbandment was hard. It's the 2nd K-pop group of mine that has disbanded for me (first was TVXQ, when Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu, left). Super hard, but hopefully we see some comeback some day in the future.

i just want to add one thing. I understand Minzy wanted to be on stage and perform like evyone else. She finished school in meantime and opened her own dance academy. I hope i wont get hate for this but as i agree with you that YG should have handled BOMs scandal better, about Minzy i must say if she was just a little bit patient. I belive YG never gave Minzy her solo because she as a solo member would not get the attention, unfortunately! :( Im happy she is doing her own thing now and i hope she is happy but i must say i was not impressed with her solo debut. They shined as 2NE1 but individually, i belive(think) YG knew MInzys time was not right because she would not get the right attention.On the other hand its all about money right? Bom was dismissed cause, she had in 2014 a "drug scandal".
Gunnar Wilhelmi she was not dismissed. It was her own choice to not resign with YG. Her "drug scandal" was a case of her not knowing the Adderall she took to treat her ADD was illegal in S. Korea. It was false accusations of drug smuggling and the truth of Bom's innocence has come to light.
And she was cleared by the SK police government or whoever accused her. But the damage was done.

They broke up because back in 2014 Park Bom, the one with the high ponytail, had a drug scandal that caused 2NE1 to go on hiatus for years. She basically went into hiding beacsue YG did not let her do any kind of promotions, for he didn't want to face any kind of backlash from the Korean public. CL focused on her solo stuff, Dara focused on MCing, Minzy was....honestly left in the dust. She is the member that is not in this video. The reason being is because YG did not give her any kind of work in the time during their hiatus. It was frustrating. 2NE1 had a surprise comeback performance at the 2015 MAMA awards, where people thought would mark the start of them coming back to music. But weeks later Minzy revealed she was not renewing her contract with YG therefore ending her time as a 2NE1 member. For the longest time after that there was hope they would continue as 3, but sadly that couldn't happen either. They all wrote letters regarding their disbandment, if you want to look for them and actually read them. CL wrote this song originally as a goodbye letter to minzy, but ultimately changed the lyrics to be a goodbye letter from them to their fans.
Edit: ok to the people saying I'm wrong I understand I did not include every single detail, but I'm just giving the general cause of their disbandment. I never said anything bad about Park Bom, if it came off that way I'm sorry. Yes saying drug scandal seems like an exaggeration considering what it was, but it was how it was portrayed in the media. 2NE1 was my first KPOP group that I ever listened to way back in 2010. This group will always hold a special space in my heart. Needless to say I cried my heart out when this song was released. I'm glad I was able to at least see them live once :) 2NE1 will always be in my top 5 KPOP girl groups.

CL originally wrote the song as a goodbye letter to Minzy, which they later turned into this as a last song, to Minzy, but in a way also to fans. I wasn't a fan of 2ne1 because I only got into kpop within the past year. But I went back and learned more about them and watched them on shows and felt a connection, so this video still makes me sad. Another big deal about this video is Bom was involved in a drug scandal (which she later proved she was innocent of) and seeing her in the video was a big surprise in a way at the time.

I grew up with 2NE1. I mature as a person because of them. When they debuted in 2009, I was in the darkest place, but their music helped me get through. They're the icons of breaking the norm and their mere existence as a group is like my soul food. There's no other music band in kpop that I could resonate with but 2NE1. And you're right Bris, watching Good bye the day it was released was heartbreaking. Not to mention, it was also the very day someone special chose to leave me.

Fuck that 7 year curse. You got bom and dara mixed up tho. But there was 4 and always 4 but Minzy left (She's not in this MV). There's so much things that led to their disbandment but no one knows the true reason. After Minzy left they were gona comeback as a trio, CL came back from the US and they recorded a wholeass album but unfortunately we'll never get tot hear that album cos they disbanded. Honestly it wasn't till 2014 that things started going downhill. I still remember that very moment tht bom went into hiding and the CL, minzy and dara came out on SBS gayodaejun and performed so fucking fierce. They were angry at everyone who sent bom hate and etc so they came onto that stage and slayed that shit with come back home. There was a verse in CL's verse where she was suppose to say "naneun neoui queen you're my ruler" at the end but instead she said "2NE1 FOUREVER". It moved everyone. This song came out when I was sitting in my digital art class in high school. I made the mistake of watching it then and then bawling my eyes out during class and having to hide it. I was so upset and the rest of the day my eyes were constantly swollen from crying. I listend to 2NE1 since 2008. I was a diehard Blackjack (The Fans Name from 2NE1). I grew up with every single Song of them. CL inspired me so much. Daras personality is something everyone should look up to. Park Bom was the Cutest, Funniest slaying Queen you could have known at this time (for me. Dont take this personal) and Minzy was just, you know, you also saw her growing up, saw what amazing beauty woman was hiding in her and she was also Joy for all of them and they loved performing together. So many 2NE1 Song Lyrics actually mean so much to me, that the 1 year waiting after the scandal, just hit me in the face when they got back on stage as a 4 member Group on surprise, i sat in class and just cried my eyes out. I was so happy, i couldn't handle it, i always wanted to see them life. (i still want to see them life and hope for the impossible Comeback...) And then another year waiting paciently for just the big news of the disbandment. Then This Song happend, and it happend at the worst Time it could have happend. This Song, i cant listen to it. The first guitar strings and i tear up, after CL sings 'Does anyone know how it makes me feel?' im done. This Song has so much deep meaning for themselfes, Blackjacks and anybody out there dealing with loss and unfairness. 2NE1 holds a really special place in my heart, they were the first girl group I really got into in 2008 after I became a BIGBANG fan. I spent so many years with them. Their "end" was just so unfair. After Bom's "scandal" - which was about prescription drugs that she was taking. YG handled this BS "scandal" so bad. I loved them all so much. 2NE1 deserved better, their fans- Blackjacks also deserved better. I miss them all together.

I am a huge BTS fan and I don't even want to think about them ever disbanding, but I know a day will come where they will or at least retire and just thinking about it makes me so sad. So I truly feel for every one who is a 2NE1 fan and how hard it must be. This is a beautiful song.
I'm just now watching the mv, I couldn't bring myself to see it. I grew up with 2ne1. I've been a fan since their debut, since their Lollipop song with Big Bang! (Damn that was so long ago). I went to their first concert here in the US. This disbandment was hard. It's the 2nd K-pop group of mine that has disbanded for me (first was TVXQ, when Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu, left). Super hard, but hopefully we see some comeback some day in the future.

This song killed me when they first released it. I straight up cried so hard as a blackjack since 2010 I loved these girls. Minzy and CL were my bias' from the start and when Minzy left I was heart broken. They were one of the first groups to really introduce me to the whole world of K-Pop along with Big Bang. They were and still are amazing. Blackjack forever. ❤
