    This is quite helpful info. Another very good reason to restart one's G6 sensor is a complete failure of supplies delivery by the vendor. My mail order pharmacy is the only game in town, according to my insurance. Sadly, they are always falling down on timely delivery (or ANY delivery). I'll use this technique the next (inevitable) time I call them about my sensor refill and they say, "WHAT refill??" Thanks for your good work!

      @MaddieNielsen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad this is helpful. I am so upset that your mail order pharmacy is not filling your prescriptions and sending them to you on time. This is something we shouldn’t have to deal with. Good luck with restating your sensors!! :)

    I have been using the g5 for over a year and always just started a new session while wearing it and after the 2 hour warm up and re calibration it would just keep on going until the next session. I would clean real well and use a smith&nephew adhesive prep being careful not to put it right where the needle penetrates. Then I would put a piece of smith&nephew Opsite Flexifix over the entire sensor it is better to cut a hole just big enough for the transmitter. I could get 2 or 3 sessions out of a sensor. I just ordered the g6 now I am hearing that they time out and will not keep working even if they are still in good shape? and I will get 2 less of them per order? I was very intrigued when I herd you speak of resting the transmitters I will try that on my g5 that I am wearing now. is there a link on a walk thru using an android? I found your site informative so I subscribed. It is so good that you are so proactive with your diabetes at a young age I am 60 and wish I had all these tools when I was younger.

    i have been reusing sensors for over ten days for a while i learned from another youtuber dexcom g6 channel, it works great , now i am looking for info about how to remove the battery from a transmitter and replace with a new one as i dont use xdrip nor apple products, android for me with a .... tandem Tslim, dexcom g6 samsung galaxy A12 and a Garmin watch... it can all work great most of the time but when my supplier is late getting my supplies to me i have to stick fingers until a new transmitter arrives so i found where the battery can be ground out and replaced...i attempted getting xdrip with no luck to work....any help or advice would be grateful , excellent instruction video thank you, i never have to wait 3 hours before a reconnect with the restart of a still in place sensor, sometimes over an hour, i do test fingers at times but i dont calibrate dexcomg6 with a finger stick result, i can tell when its over and beyond a 20 day sensor, the graph gets all glitchy ...thanks again

    I find that the Dexcom G6 sensors don't live to the magic day a lot of times. Dexcom replace the sensor for free including shipping. I install it correctly. It just doesn't work to the end.
    I use my abdomen and by 10 days the sensor doesn't stick very well. I shave my stomach for better contact. My insurance is really good. So, I go with only one cycle.
    Because of the G6 and its 5 minute samples, I never knew how bad my glucose control was at times. So, for my peace of mind, one cycle is cool.
    My A1C has dropped from 7.9 to 7.1 in last five weeks. My realistic goal is 6.9 by the end of the this month.
    Stay healthy and safe.

    I only have the transmitter, because my phone is android and doesn't work with the app. What can I do to restart the sensor just using the transmitter?

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi José!! If you mean by how can you restart with just having the receiver, it isn’t possible I don’t believe. You need to be able to have either a working phone Dexcom App or the Dexcom App WITH the receiver. I am attaching the website as to where I originally found out how to restart my G6 sensors. seemycgm.com/2018/06/11/restarting-g6-sensors-and-transmitter/ If you have the G5, you should just be able to hit “start” again and you shouldn’t have any issues with restarts with the G5 (it’s much simpler)...I hope this helps you out!! 😊👍🏻

    My setup is a Tandem Tslim pump and DexCom G6 Sensors and Transmitter. I have the DexCom App loaded to my Samsung phone .I do not use the Dexcom receiver as it is redundant and is in conflict with the pump--ie the transmitter needs to send its info to the CGM pump or receiver but not both. The DexCom phone app is not in conflict with the CGM function on the pump and reads out duplicate info of what I get on the pump. It is a bit confusing but I keep the phone app active as it gives me more info than the Tandem pump and can be silenced but remains active. It is also easier to operate when doing a new sensor start or extending. Does any else have a similar set up who would be willing to share their shortcuts and successes. Thanks

    I'm quite open to say that as a T! for 50 years it's a need we need 100% on all T1 and its not a luxury but an essential equipment we need and Dexcom and teh rest of them need to seriously rethink of there prices or we as T1 need to start making our own!

    This method is not working for me! I put it in my neighbor's backyard then waited a couple hours (2 1/2 hours). Got it back and let it reconnect then after about 5 minutes it said no restarts. Going to try another method of unmounting it, waiting, and then reinserting it.
    My problem is I've gone through so many of these sensors because they kept failing to warm up that I'm short before I can get new sensors. I'm still considering going back to the G5 and never trying anything new.

    • @MaddieNielsen
      @MaddieNielsen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s really sucks. It’s possible you have one of the new transmitters. In that case, you will have to use a different method to restart.

      @cagedtigersteve 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaddieNielsen Well I just got it to work after an entire day trying. I had to carefully pry it off the sensor, rub it the right way, and then was able to restart it. But it immediately was way off it's mark. (90 pts). So I calibrated it and now just going to try to see how well it works. Until I establish trust in its readings I will use finger tests for decisions.
