Just use petal search, it will automatically find 99%9 percent of all the apps you needs. It shows the apps from a trustworthy source and promps you you download and install them. It works very well.

People get on bandwagons: knocking curved screens is one of the latest that most TH-camrs repeat. Am with you, I love them too. Look great and the tech has advanced enough to block accidental touches for the most part. Am torn between this one and P40 flagship. The last Huawei I had was P20 Pro. Loved the build and camera setup.
Putting aside all the chaos, It's just good to see one out of many who actually appreciates new tech in a way that's actually should be done. Wish i could see more of those gesture controls. Still no idea how the 'Eye Control' (NOT Eyes On Display!) gesture works which they have shown during the event promo video and i guess it's a new one this time comparing to the Mate 30 Pro of last year. Huawei's night mode is truly the best in market for the past 3 years and currently. The Kirin 9000 chip ranks higher than the A14 bionic chip. The only thing that is holding Huawei is the US unfair ban. Thanks for the video Ben.

To be honest, the gms problem didn't bother me that much. It would be great if it has gms, but I would keep my old Huawei phone to use the gms when I had to. Just bought the Freebuds pro, your reviews are correct, an impressive product. So im going to buy mate 40 pro when available for sale.

Been in love with Huawei since I purchased my P20 Pro that still running flawless, then I bought a P30 Pro, another superlative phone and now I purchased the Mate 40 pro and I have to say its just wow. One of the most tastefully constructed smartphone with ground breaking hardware and a camera to fall in love with.
This is such a beautiful and outstanding phone. And it's an indication of what Huawei is, truly capable of. I understand Ben that you don't want to talk about the stupid politics situation. But it's a true shame, because the consumer, the end user is missing out on a, potentialy wonderful experience with this phone. Because of that unessary situation. Great review. ✌✌✌
Definitely picking this one up. Google services is overrated. Overrated because people don't know there are workarounds... ALTHOUGH!!! There are some apps that just WONT WORK because they require google services to work. For the people who uses these apps regularly, that's going to be an issue. This'll be perfect for me though.

Ok so when recording video you'll also get that benefit of 10x lostless zooom as well correct? This actually quite useful when i try to film in pro camera like filmic sometimes i really have to zoom past 4-5x for an object in the back ground but always loose quality. So how does this one compare to the p40 pro plus so far? Not big difference i assume?

It's weird that this beast of a phone doesn't have OIS on its main camera...(also you mentioned the night mode was made redundant, but I was also trying to see how to night mode was compared to the auto photos...are they slightly better/worse?)

No, if you zoom while shooting video it zooms with the main camera not the periscope camera.
