    Immediate post-war mass produced (as opposed to coach-built) British cars like this were the early (if basic) luxury cars of that war-rationed era, and that is the appeal; simplicity all round. I may just buy one myself after owning and selling numerous classic sportscars, because saloons are becoming rarer now and they are a darned-sight more comfortable to travel in over distances. The lines on these long-wheelbase like Minors really are something, and with a torquey six-cylinder OHC engine. It begs for twin carburettors and an overdrive on the gearbox for all-day 80 m.p.h. cruising.

    Had the joy of spending half an hour just sat in the driving seat of one of these whilst it rained at a show, the couple who owned it were having a picnic in the backseat and invited us in, and told us about how they'd had one when they first started dating back in the 1960s, sold it but then were desperate to get on back and I could see why it was so special to them! Really lovely cars and you're right, very unusual!

      It’s a beautiful old thing and it has me hankering after another 50s British car already! Thanks for sharing that, it’s nice to hear of another one as well, these haven’t survived as well as the 6/80!

    Lovely car, with a great sound. I really like the cream bakelite dash.

    Interesting video , as you say , the Morris Six seems to have survived in far fewer numbers than the Wolseley 6/80.Fitted with optional in period recirculatory Smiths heater with 2 opening doors to direct heat !.Registered originally in Bath.

      I was told it was a Bath reg so near to where I used to live and grew up! Not a million miles from home, just over the bridge…!

    Looks like a giant Morris Minor, how many still exist in Britain?

    • @OGCars
      @OGCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t a clue but it can’t be many, I’ve never seen another, I think there’s a few more Wolseley 6/80s

      There's bugger all in New Zealand as well, along with the Wolseley 6/80s. But there's bound to be some hiding away in sheds around the place, and possibly the same in the UK too.
