  • Poor Doug really does feel the cold so he will definitely benefit from this new coat.
Using a thrifted jacket from the charity shop, I was able to clone an existing dog coat and sew a new one. This whole process took about 2 hours and used...
    1 thrifted quilted coat
4 metres of bias binding (I needed more though)
1 old bedsheet for the toile
1 dog coat to clone from
Once I had the shape down it was really easy. I think if I made it again I would take more time on the bias binding but overall I think it looks pretty snazzy and a lot cheaper than the ready to wear alternative.

Looks great... he really has a teeny waist!! The first thing I thought was that he looked like a wasp. I will make some for my dog. Thx.

He is mega dinky, I think it's his high anxiety that means he just will. not. put. weight. on. I wish it worked for me!! Thanks for watching x

I felt a bit queasy when I found out that the coat was selling for £40 on ebay. It was only worth £6ish to me but still... thanks for watching! x

I have done a similar thing for my Weimaraner but I want to add a neck like this! Any ideas on how I can draw it out?

On a previous coat I created the neckline out of a rectangle piece and took the measurements from length of neck (plus a bit for the turn over) and the circumference of the neck opening, then eased it in before sewing the whole length of the neck and chest piece together. Hope that helps! X
