    I bought the Dobyns Champion swimbait rod and paired it with a curado 300. I've landed 4 hudd fish this year already. I would've kept skipping out and throwing finesse for numbers of fish but I'm very grateful I listened.

    You guys should talk about the difference between rods like softness/hardness light med heavy and so on, so when a new be like I can pick a pole for something specific, I've only been fishing since July this year and placed 38 out of 92 boats so I know I have a lot to learn but you guys really help. A great reel in between the Shimano Cardiff and Tranx are the new Curado 300K's! Two gear ratios (slow for soft baits and higher gear for hard baits) and literally bullet proof. Similar construction as a Tranx 300 without the saltwater sealing, but improved casting distance!!!

    Matt this is the year I've taken the TB plunge. I've always been a one trick pony with the worm. This summer I expanded to finesse swimbaits, swim jigs, dark sleeper and deep cranks with great success. During the sale I got a dedicated deep crank set-up (Dobyns Champion XP 805, Tranx 200) and big swimbait setup. (Dobyns Championship XP swimbait 806 Tranx 300). Also bought a couple TB A-rigs. I had bought a number of swimbaits after watching your SB video a few weeks ago. I was surprised how many baits I bought that you re-reviewed today. (Megabass Magdraft, Savage Gear RFT, Savage Gear Bluegill). I watched your SB video at least 3 times and plan on reviewing it more. I'm on a fishery that regularly catches double digits and the lake record is 16 + lbs. Hoping to break into double digits this year. Thanks for all you and Tim do. I've learned more from you guys in the last year than all my years fishing. Do you still guide? I'm in Mississippi not that far from you.

    St Croix makes some awesome Light Muskie rods that work well for swimbaits get a Legend series if you can afford one as they are amazing. Cashion too has a really nice series of Swimbait rods that are great for a mid level priced rod. Hopefully Tactical bassin pick up these for the future.

    I don't have a dedicated swimbait rod- I use jig rods. I have two I can use- one is only rated up to 1 ounce but I can easily throw like S wavers on it and it does really well- has a fairly moderate action to it. But, the other that's rated up to 2 ounces is stiff as a pool que- it's a flipping stick only. So I've been straying away from anything heavier than say 1.5 ounces- but do you think I could throw something like the Sneaky Pete on a stiff flipping stick like that and still land a fish?

    • @northeastgiants775
      @northeastgiants775 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the action is too fast could be a bad rod for smaller swim baits. Upgrade to bigger hooks for more of a chance to land fish. I just got a ST CROIX BASS X 7’4 MH mod fast 3/4-Oz-1/2 throws most baits well 2oz or more just landed a 6.3lb on an open jig hooked 5in paddle tale 4ot hook and it did so good the bend in the rod was amazing when she loaded up I knew it was a GIANT

    Great video about my favorite subject. I only use nylon mono as fishing line. Using mono is the G Loomis IMX Pro 966 still a good rod for both treble hook and single hook baits, or should I use something a little stiffer to compensate for the elasticity of the line? About the baits I agree. Some of the baits I have little experience with. I'm starting to fish the Savage Gear Pulse Tail baits. About hudds, I fished them for years now and only got 1 fish on the weedless 68. I've caught my PB last year on the 8" Savage Gear Glide Swimmer and have a couple of my top10 bass on the S-Waver 168. Also 2 bass of my top10 on a 6.5" bait I make, similar to a MS Slammer. About the Spro BBZ-1, I have the 6" version but prefer to use it really slow. That's the way Bill Siemantel (who designed the bait) use it more often and that's the way the bait swims the best. Next year I'll try burning it. Thanks for the great video!

    @TacticalBassin I have fished swimbait a for 3 years really without a bite. I fish a lake in california that is stocked with trout and I have been out there throwing a mix of soft baits, glides, and topwater swimbaits. The main target is striped bass in our lake with swim baits though there are giant largemouth. I’m wondering how I should fish a bait like a Huddleston for stripers, because a lot of guys have been getting bit on it this year so far after trout stockings, but I have still been without a bite. I’ve crawled the bait on bottom most of the time slower than anyone I have seen out there, and I’ve occasionally tried retrieving faster. I am trying to end the streak of no bites or fish for 3 years and am wondering what retrieves I should be throwing on a hudd or open water glides/topwater for stripers, just thought I’d ask the best for some advice!

    My problem with the EZ is you have to fix the tails, should be in a clamshell

      Oh man, the packaging is terrible. But as weird as it is, the fish seem to eat them all, even the ones that are side stepping through the water 🤷🏼‍♂️

    What type of line do you guys suggest? I fish for bass, but alot of times those toothy pike like to grab and break off my expensive lures. I know I can use a leader. Just wondering if that effects the action. Right now I use 50# braid. Should I be using floro or ?????

    Is there a point that at certain lakes swim baits are not a good idea? Where they may be too big? At one point earlier this year I was crushing 3 1/2 pound bass and bigger on a 4.8 inch Keitech. But that seems to be the only Lure I can get bit on for swim baits. Any suggestions on what the next steps would be? I know that this is a broad spectrum. But I love swim bait fishing and it’s discouraging when you just can’t get bit.

    I watched all your buyer's videos. Went to my cart on TW to add a few more items now empty. Gotta Start over.
    I wanna stay under 4 ounce swims I have elbow issues. The curado 200k, transx 301,cardiff's,corvalus, gone what about the beastX or tatula reels?

      Curado 300 or tatula 300 if tranx sold out

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the worst!! Its such a bummer when you have to start over! I don't have experience with the Beast X but two other reels in this category I've had good luck with so far are the Curado 300: bit.ly/2HbZ3E4 and the 13 Fishing A3: bit.ly/3GLddq8
      I haven't put nearly as much time into either of these as I have the Tranx but so far they've held up great. 👍

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has quite a bit of tip, definitely not a broom stick 👍 I was just on there poking around and they only have one left 😳 Here's the direct link: bit.ly/3tT8bS2

    What do you add the the savage gear swimbaits to cover the smell out of the package?

    • @tacticalbassin
      @tacticalbassin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing. Get them out of the package and let them sit. They need to off gas and the clam shell holds it in.

      The Fury 806 is a little light for jig hooks. If you want a jig hook rod from Dobyns it's the Champion XP 807
