2021, still here. I have to say, as an ohio boy I still grew up with sublime in the early nineties.. The original sublime. But man, sublime with rome still make some great jams. Hope 2021 is good for everyone
Jakob Nowell recently resurrected Sublime with Bud and Eric. Not gonna lie, Jakob sounds eerily like his dad at times but he also sounds like his own man. Sublime now exists in as close to its original form as it possibly can and it's amazing. That being said: I agree with you that Rome Ramirez definitely deserves respect for his part in keeping the Sublime legacy alive for as long as he did. No, it was never the same as it was with Bradley but we still had Sublime in at least some form until Jakob was ready to pick up where his dad left off.
I'm 37, it's 2024 and this is the first sublime with rome video I have ever watched. I have listened for years but a lot more recently and sublime with rome is my work playlist and it's always the way i start my day mon-fri. No it was not Bradley and it will never be Bradley but I can tell you something magical and special was in the air at that show and it created a lot of closure for true fans that needed to feel Eric's bass lines buds drum riffs and feel sublime as a live band not just a CD or digital download. Sublime with time may have sold out but they brought back a feeling some of us really needed . No I do not follow or am into the new music but rome is an amazing frontman to stand with such an iconic band and not replace but rejuvenate that ok sublime stylie

I was so against sublime getting a new singer. I loved long beach dub allstars and felt it was a nice continuation of the band and they made amazing music. So when they announced they were starting sublime again i was angry because no one could replace brad in my mind. Then i saw it was sublime with rome not just sublime which made it a little easier for me but i still wouldnt listen to any of it. Till one day a friend of me who knew how big of a sublime fan i am asked me if i had listened to the new album and i said no because its not sublime, she said you right its not it subline with rome and played a song for me. I am so glad she did. Your music is awesome hits home for me. It may not be bradley but its still amazing music. They did use the "Sublime" name, however a Los Angeles judge banned the new use of the name bacuase Nowell owned the rights to the sublime name and they were not allowed to use it without the approval and permission from his estate. When the lawsuit was settled they became Sublime With Rome. But yeah i agree. 2 diffrent bands.
I just saw sublime with Rome, what a great concert. Rome messed up on some of the classics of Sublime, but he was drunk . Brad was inspiration to so many bands, who try to follow him by rapping to reggae and ska. Wish I could of seen Brad before he died.

J- ROW Bradley was the creative force in the band. He wrote most of the songs, and that's obvious if you look at the songs Rome has written. Save for a few, they all pretty much sound similar. TBH, there's no reggae in this album at all. It's a totally different band, and it should have a totally different name. They should have just left it all alone and made their own band like they did with the LBDA. I think what's coming up next for Rome is a duet with Justin Bieber. I bet he'd do it if there was a big payday. That's why I feel Rome is a sellout. I'd like him to keep doing his solo work, and let Bud and Eric form their own band with someone else, someone who has the sense to not try and gain fame from a name that would immediately associate him with fame and success. Rome took the easy way out, and now tons of people hate him. If Eric ever leaves, and they still call it Sublime with Rome, it will be even worse. It will be the least authentic band in the USA.

The reality of it is that Bradley Nowell is dead. He owned the rights to sublime. Bud and Eric had no right to call their project Sublime. And a California court agreed with that and forced them to stop Playing under that name. Bud has said in interviews that he regrets ever making music with Rome but that he would work with Eric again just not under the name Sublime. truth is SWR is a quality band. But they are not Sublime. In my opinion it should not even be called Sublime with Rome. Currently only one original member is in the band. That would be like Ringo going on tour with three nobodies and calling his band the Beatles. Only the magic that Brad Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson created should be called Sublime.
Jeff Riddick That's my feelings on the situation. Once a band member leaves, you're no longer that band. I think they should have preserved Sublime by changing the name. Sure, Sublime isn't just Brad, but Sublime isn't Sublime without him. Even calling themselves Sublime with Rome isn't accurate to me. They can still keep his memory and legacy in check without having to mention Sublime, true fans of Sublime will both follow and understand who they are and where the rest of the band members are.
I loved the original sublime. They where the best, obviously bradley made the band what it is. To be honest though I feel really bad for how bud and Eric never got a chance to tour under sublime when it was super popular after their self titled. I agree naming it swr is pushing it but at least they didn't name it sublime like they tired.

So when they announced they were starting sublime again i was angry because no one could replace brad in my mind. Then i saw it was sublime with rome not just sublime which made it a little easier for me but i still wouldnt listen to any of it. Till one day a friend of me who knew how big of a sublime fan i am asked me if i had listened to the new album and i said no because its not sublime, she said you right its not it subline with rome and played a song for me. I am so glad she did. Your music is awesome hits home for me. It may not be bradley but its still amazing music. Thank you guys for keeping up all the hard work after your loss i am so glad to still have your music in my life.

The beauty of music/musicians is they're never the same. I'm going to see this version of sublime this Saturday and I'm stoked about it. 2021...I love the music, Rome has a smooth voice. Went to the concert in 2019 at RedRocks, and it was amazing! Most enjoyable concert I’ve been to. I knocked “sublime in concert” off my bucket list. Rome is amazing!!!!!!! Love love love!!!!

They did use the "Sublime" name, however a Los Angeles judge banned the new use of the name bacuase Nowell owned the rights to the sublime name and they were not allowed to use it without the approval and permission from his estate. When the lawsuit was settled they became Sublime With Rome. But yeah i agree. 2 diffrent bands.

I just saw sublime with Rome, what a great concert. Rome messed up on some of the classics of Sublime, but he was drunk . Brad was inspiration to so many bands, who try to follow him by rapping to reggae and ska. Wish I could of seen Brad before he died.

I think if ANYBODY has a right to judge this Sublime with Rome, it's the ORIGINAL MEMBERS of the band. They like him. Once we get over being jealous that we are not the lead singer of our favorite band, we can start to listen and figure out... we are old! the kids need Sublime as much as we did!
The sad thing is, they are coming out with some really good music and yet so many people are going to judge them solely on the name Sublime.

I dont think the other band members should have died with 'Brad'. Who's going to hate Pantera if they decide to get a new bassist?
J- ROW Bradley was the creative force in the band. He wrote most of the songs, and that's obvious if you look at the songs Rome has written. Save for a few, they all pretty much sound similar. TBH, there's no reggae in this album at all. It's a totally different band, and it should have a totally different name. They should have just left it all alone and made their own band like they did with the LBDA. I think what's coming up next for Rome is a duet with Justin Bieber. I bet he'd do it if there was a big payday. That's why I feel Rome is a sellout. I'd like him to keep doing his solo work, and let Bud and Eric form their own band with someone else, someone who has the sense to not try and gain fame from a name that would immediately associate him with fame and success. Rome took the easy way out, and now tons of people hate him. If Eric ever leaves, and they still call it Sublime with Rome, it will be even worse. It will be the least authentic band in the USA.

The reality of it is that Bradley Nowell is dead. He owned the rights to sublime. Bud and Eric had no right to call their project Sublime. And a California court agreed with that and forced them to stop Playing under that name. Bud has said in interviews that he regrets ever making music with Rome but that he would work with Eric again just not under the name Sublime. truth is SWR is a quality band. But they are not Sublime. In my opinion it should not even be called Sublime with Rome. Currently only one original member is in the band. That would be like Ringo going on tour with three nobodies and calling his band the Beatles. Only the magic that Brad Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson created should be called Sublime.

Jeff Riddick That's my feelings on the situation. Once a band member leaves, you're no longer that band. I think they should have preserved Sublime by changing the name. Sure, Sublime isn't just Brad, but Sublime isn't Sublime without him. Even calling themselves Sublime with Rome isn't accurate to me. They can still keep his memory and legacy in check without having to mention Sublime, true fans of Sublime will both follow and understand who they are and where the rest of the band members are.

I loved the original sublime. They where the best, obviously bradley made the band what it is. To be honest though I feel really bad for how bud and Eric never got a chance to tour under sublime when it was super popular after their self titled. I agree naming it swr is pushing it but at least they didn't name it sublime like they tired.
