24 Hours in the Bronx

- I took a last minute detour and made my way north to the Bronx to visit Lucy, an old friend I had not seen in nearly a decade. Lucy is originally from the Domican Republic, and has fought her entire life to give herself and her family a better life. She helped raise me during some hard times in my home life, so she is like an auntie to me. After jumping around Puerto Rico, DR and New York for decades, she now resides permanently in the Bronx due to her disabilities. She is one of the best and most interesting people I know, so I wanted to take you guys with me and show you a glimpse of the local life in the Bronx, but also the heart and soul of it, Lucy.

Ok. You got me going. I started watching tus videos.,I like them. I was born in the Bronx, me dad was in the army, but spend most the time with my grandparents in Patterson. Went to UPR . Tuve una beca por deporte. Tennis, Gymnastics and Pista y campo. Go Gallinas!. Have metals and letras for 3 years and muy orgullosas de ella. The most thing I like about you is your humility and good heart. Funny? Yeap, big time. Lol I am in Texas picking up my Jeep to ship to PR. Going to take care of mom. I was living full time on my motorhome since last year and nothing like it! You will love it, that I know. Maybe sometime we will meet and things can happen girl! Stay strong, keep going and God bless! I'm in Carolina...
Boricua, Sencilla, Natural, Sociable, y Hermosa.
This is such a real channel. I am shocked that it doesn't have 1m subscribers. Keep on rocking. You are doing well. A big fan of yours.
‘Preciate it ❤️ Definitely am not stopping! Thanks so much for watching!!
From the midwest and have visited the Bronx a few times and rode the trains. From the end of the 4 to Yankees Stadium. From Dyre Avenue on 2/5 (I think) to 138th Street. Also the old Little Italy in Belmont 👊👌 ....been some years
This one is a favorite. Our aunties are always so special. I am happy to see that you spend time with your love ones. It’s so sweet. Enjoy.
It’s my favorite too, thank you for watching a piece of me ❤️
Lets raise some money so that laura can stay a whole month with Auntie!!!
Oh that would be amazing, though I think the apartments she lives in only allows a max of 2 days per visitor :(
Love t see caring n happy people.
if ur ever in NYC again i know a place with tons of those canons like the ones on the beach u went to where there as a photographer, but way bigger and more to explore, i grew up going around them as as kid, they have an amazing view and u can see the skyline from a different angle than anywhere else... and i saw another comment mentioning seaview, i live 5 mins from there but have never been.
I'm so glad i found ur videos, i dont expect u to remember this comment but it would be cool to show u these places one day. ur videos remind me of my childhood/teenage years so much. have me feeling so old reminiscing at 28 years
Hi I’m from Brooklyn. I just saw your videos and I loved them. If one day you come down, you need to check out an abandoned hospital called sound view in Staten Island.
Thanks for the tip!! Never been to staten island and for sure would check it out my next trip there! Thanks for watching ❤️ i love NYC
Hi it’s me the girl from Brooklyn. I pray to GOD that you and your family are all doing well . Also I forgot to mention on my first text that I am sooo sorry about the passing of your grandma. I also lost my grandma, but a very long time ago . Now your grandma and mine are in a beautiful awesome place with our beloved GOD. They will always be alive in our hearts. I wanted to ask you if you have ever gone to Camuy ? That is my home town. If you have did you ever go to la cueva de Camuy. Also when are you to put more videos I enjoy watching your videos.
That’s funny !!! When I was 12 I ate sushi for the first time and thought the wassabi was guacamole also .
Love love this video so humble!! Most of my friends passed away n one that lived in the Bronx...we lost contact seriously Miss her....Covid took so many friends!!! You are blessed 🙌 😇 hey girl I feel your birth marks are a meaningful ✨️ site the moles on your arm lined up like stars 🌟 I believe your left arm.....the Indians believe that to be a significant of something ❤
Ok this video was my favorite video! Lol Lucy is such a sweetheart! As a local New Yorker (in Brooklyn) and as a Puerto Rican this video touched my heart. Lucy reminds me of my mom, she won’t quit cigarettes and if we go to a sushi spot I have to identify the dishes that have rice and meat 😂😂 🇵🇷🇵🇷❤️❤️
Wow! You did an awesome job on this video 👍
You go girl. Gotta give it to you walking on Brook Ave/138 st at night by yourself
I have a grandfather who is from Puerto Rico. The other 3 grands are from Mexico. The one from Puerto Rico passed away when my dad was just a baby . Therefore I do not know my Puerto Rican Roots . Thanks for the culture sharing . I really appreciate it ❤from San Diego
Love this, it is my pleasure to show you the PR culture (: I hope to continue showcasing the best and realest parts of your (and mines) roots
Laura washere soon5000vitasgoodgirl😂😢😅
I'm half PR my dad is from Juana Diaz but I've never been to the island... You make me wanna go but since my dad never taught me Spanish I feel kinda like duh... I knew more when I was a kid but now I lost it... I absolutely LOVE your channel... The little girl is a great tourist... So nice you came to New York to see ur 2nd mom ❤
I think this is such a great video. That’s a nice building and apt but people if they do not know Lau is in the hood and she is chilling ❤ Bronx Puerto Ricans are very special tough and loving people
I use to live in the Bronx in Soundview, also in New York city and Brooklyn,, so yeah things are pretty expensive there. The noise also gets to be too much. But it's got its charming areas, some nice places to explore. I miss the metro card 💳 😅
A very loving & caring beautiful family video many family blessings to all Amen!🙏💖🥰😘👍
Aaayy Laura Sofia… como me he disfrutado ese video!!!😂😂😂 Me has hecho la tarde!!!

🆒 Video Lau !!!!
Thanks for sharing your time in New York. Keep the nice videos coming. 👍😃
Thank you for watching! Got some great stuff coming up (:
I've been following you for only a week or so after seeing your comment on the Dry Wrangler school dude's video regarding your account on TH-cam and the views/subs you have. I've enjoyed what I've seen you post thus far. I found this video to be especially good due to the conversation you had with that lovely woman around the 8-10 minute mark. You both are very caring/intelligent individuals, just based on the talk alone. I agree that you shouldn't live for the world... keep posting cause it makes you happy. :)
Sincerely, a happy new subber!
Adam, thanks so much for watching and commenting, it made my day reading it! Welcome to the channel (and the adventures hehe) posting these videos and the different stories of people gives me life, so it makes me happy to see other people feeling it as well
@@LauWasHere Lau, this was such a nice commet. You're growing gal, you're growing. Congratulations! 😇😇😇
Can't believe that you lived in the Bronx and I had the same scarf as you 😅
Just found your channel,ILOVE IT!! 💜😊💜
Yay ❤️ so happy
Poor guy needed a tip😢 Love your videos though. 🥰
despite HOW ugly new york is there are a lot of beautiful people there. Thank you for the tour in the Bronx!
Wow that 12 year old is so smart, mature, aware and well spoken! She’s exactly right most people only show the “TikTok/IG” side of living in NYC, but there’s a whole non-rich population who live here and have awesome fun fulfilling lives. Let’s normalize and romanticize the non rich side of NYC life lol
Tremenda luchadora. Gracias por ver el vid ❤️
31:30 cerca de YankeeStadium.
No trip to the Bronx is complete if you do not go to little Italy in the Bronx and try their Restaurants then go around the corner to Artuso’s for their Italian pastries.
Si, poner a Dios Primero Siempre... Lucy seem's very sweet
Not a good idea to be flashing you camera around the Bronx after dark.
laura es tan dulce ❤️

18:37 Your movie
23:15 That's a real plate full, i wouldn't be able to get through half of that even if i loved it, I'm such a small eater 😆
35:33 Uh oh here comes all the embarrassing childhood talk 😆
36:48 Yes, gotta love that walking on snow feeling 😁
49:59 Someone's had too many 🍷🤣
Brilliant as always!
Ooo if you come to a latina’s house be prepared to eat a lot lol!! Still can’t get over walking on freezer burn hehe. Thanks Swanny!! ❤️
@@LauWasHere Freezer burn 😆
I enjoyed this video of the BX where I grew up, and I'm guessing Lucy is from Dominican Republic I can hear it in the accent mixed with some boricua
😮 she says she's Puerto Rican I like Puerto Rican they're not prejudiced against the darker skin each other the Dominicans are racist against their own selves as black and mixed black people people.
@@J.A.G.618 That's false woke propaganda . Dominicans are proud of their country and culture not their skin color, they don't want foreign nationals taking over their country
@@J.A.G.618 That's a very Ignorant statement.
🎉❤🎉
Great video ❤❤ Love Lucy and how she was speaking about living for the world or God...she was speaking truth!!! Jesus Christ is the only way❤ also the sushi looked so yummy!!! Stay safe❤
The best part was when she ate the Wasabi‼️🍱🥢😳😫🤯🥵🥛🍥 😭💦😂🤣👉🏽🚫🥑jajajajajaja 🤣 #classico #LauWasHere #ElBronx #bronxnyc
NewYork Ricans, are better hard core Boricuas than the ones in La Isla. Always noticed since living in P.R.
You seem like a native Nuyorican🇵🇷🗽🤔
Nuyorican
Hi Lau,
It was great seeing you enjoy the snow, back in the day they used to have artificial snowfalls for kids at Plaza Las America’s Mall in PR!
I hope you have an opportunity to visit The Bronx again during the summer to experience Little Italy on Arthur Avenue and City Island and Orchard Beach where everyone enjoys the sun and Salsa! 💃🏿 🕺🏿
🗽🇵🇷
Your friend made a mistake you are not beautiful you are gorgeous 😍
First.
You're not jenci, dafuq?!
