Nice job. ONE thing missing: how to open the battery compartment cover. It hinges at the bottom of the handle, and at the top of the battery compartment cover, on one side of the handle, there's a little rectangular notch that will accommodate a thumbnail, or the edge of a dime, or the tip of a flat-blade screwdriver, or the tip of a blunt table knife from your wife's good silverware (just don't let her catch you using it to pry something open!). I got the top end popped open, but it ACTED like the cover did NOT want to swing open. It was taking more force than I thought was necessary, and I stopped because I didn't want to break the bottom end. The manual was NO help. For changing the battery it just said, "Open the battery cover". Not one word on HOW. Was this a two-part thing, where it pops part way open, and then slides up the rest of the way? How much force SHOULD I use?? I don't effing know! I called Harbor Freight. They couldn't immediately find an answer, but to their credit, started researching while I waited, and we talked. Finally, I opened the cover as far as it FELT like it wanted to go, and then increased my force slightly; and it began to yield JUUUST a little bit. So I increased the force a bit more, and it gave a bit more, with no sounds of straining or popping, cracking, none of that. So I just maintained the force, and it slowly opened up until it passed a "friction point", relaxed, and then simply opened. And I was VERY happy that I hadn't busted my new toy before I ever got to use it.
Glad you asked! The user manual is posted on the Harbor Freight webpage, next to the product overview. www.harborfreight.com/201-infrared-laser-thermometer-with-color-alarms-64847.html
Thanks for the comment. I kinda like the DJ comment! Normally people just comment how they like the clear voice and short videos! Haven't had a lot of haters yet, but I'll keep your comment located in the corner of my mind in case they start to pile up.
His voice is solid he’s going for the TH-cam influencer style of speaking so he doesn’t sound boring or monotone. I think this video was solid and if your getting mad at how he speaks your just a miserable person.
Awesome review as always! It boggles my mind how such technology can sell so cheap! Amazing!
But not HVAC systems. 😅
I always wondered how big the pattern would be when you are farther away... seems like the laser on this unit would be pretty helpful.

Why not measure the top of the coffee instead of the glass for temperature check?
I'm not sure how accurate it is to measure liquids with one, maybe someone reading the comments can answer!
You didn't mention the battery it takes?
9V
But how do the controls work? Emissivity? Thresholds?

For the most accurate reading, it has to be 20 inches away? Can it be pointed say 10 feet away for accuracy as well?
At 20 inches, it is measuring the footprint of about 1 inch. 10 feet would probably be so far away it wouldn't be able to measure.
What are they used for?
Used for the determination of the temperature of something.

Loved the review; hated the exaggerated DJ-style vocal inflection.
